Eliana Echeverry
Is colombian composer, arranger and producer. She studied composition and orchestration at Conservatory of National University of Colombia under the guidance of Gustavo Parra and Moises Bertran. Also, she studied psychology at National University of Colombia.
Currently, she is studying a Master degree in composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London thanks to the Young Talent scholarship granted by the Central Bank of Colombia. (This is an award given to one young musician every two years after a very competitive application).
Eliana takes her homeland tradition as the inspiration for her music, however she is not a folk composer. She develops her language throughout the deconstruction of the rhythmic elements of Latin American music. Her quest is to find a balance between jazz, contemporary classical music and traditional music from Latin America.
Eliana is an advocate of the work of Latin Artists and for this concert Eliana collaborated with the Colombian artist Carlos Jacanamijoy, whose work is displayed during the pieces. Also the Colombian fashion brand Anciela based in London provided the costume design for Eliana and accessories for the ensemble.
