BEAUFORT GOLF CLUB

KILLARNEY GOLF & FISHING CLUB

Killarney Golf & Fishing Club set on a majestic backdrop

Celebrating 25 years Beaufort Golf Club is a beautiful 18hole parkland golf course set at the foot of the MacGillicuddy's Reeks, just outside Beaufort Village. It has been described by visitors as the ‘Hidden Gem’ in golfing in South West Ireland. The club has all the facilities one would expect from a modern golf club whilst still embracing a traditional, warm and friendly atmosphere. Other facilities include an excellent putting and practice green, changing room facilities, pro-shop, restaurant and a large car park. Being part of the ‘Reeks District’ tourism drive and the Irish Tour Operators Golf Association (ITOGA) gives us an opportunity to attract golfers from all over the world.

Our senior membership is also thriving with a very active club that meet every Thursday morning for golf and a catch up. This year Beaufort is celebrating 25 years! It now stands in a very secure and positive position in the hands of Tadgh and Helen Clifford who lease and run the course. Their guardianship of club and course has raised its profile and put it on the map of both locals and visitors from the USA and Europe. We have an Open Friday every week from May to September which we will be holding again this year, and further events will be added to the calendar to celebrate our 25th anniversary – watch this space!

Killarney Golf & Fishing Club is set in Killarney National Park within the famous Ring of Kerry and within two miles of Killarney town centre. The clubhouse and courses are beautifully set on the banks of Lough Leane and has the McGillycuddy’s Reeks as a majestic backdrop. The course is home to approximately 150 herd of native deer which makes a beautiful sight in the natural landscape as golfers make their way around the golf course. The club was established in 1893 by Lord Castlerosse and has two champi-

onship 18 hole golf courses, Killeen and Mahony's Point. There is also a 9 hole course, Lackabane situated at the Golf Academy which also boasts an excellent driving range and practice facility where visitors can warm up before their round of golf. Killeen is the flagship course and hosted four Irish Opens in 1991, 1992, 2010 and 2011 and the Curtis Cup in 1996. Nick Faldo won the first two Irish Opens in 1991 and then 1992. The Women's Irish Open was held on Mahony's Point.
