Local man’s travel film to feature at KIFF

A Killarney-based Polish couple’s short film on their travels around the world will make its debut at the Kerry International Film Festival in October.

Arkadiusz Patla and his partner Natalia Stelmaszewska’s film ‘The Journey Called Life’ hopes to inspire people to get out their comfort zones and travel the world.

Arkadiusz, who has been living in Killarney for 17 years, first got the travel bug in 2015 when he visited several Asian countries.

While the pandemic put his plans on hold, lockdowns also made him realise that there is more to life that sitting around the house.

“There is more to life, inspiration came from lockdown, my message is get off the couch,” he said.

“I want to travel as much as possible, and everyone can do it.”

He returned to traveling in December 2022 and while on a trip to Bangkok he met Natalia.

The pair quickly became a couple due to their shared love of travelling and that inspired the short movie that will be shown at the October 19 to 22 film festival that will be headquartered in Killarney. They also hope to launch a collection of travel accessories and bags based on his social media channels ‘POLISHMANTRAVEL'.
