The 71-year-old actress - best known for her 1990s American TV series 'Dr Quinn Medicine Woman' - stayed in the Randles Hotel and celebrated in Hillianrds ahead of her birthday which took place on Wednesday.
"Kerry International Film Festival (KIFF) and Randles Hotel Killarney were delighted to host English actress, OBE, Jane Seymour, as she was celebrating her birthday weekend in Killarney on Friday night," KIFF Board Member, Aileen Garvey, said.
The actress is best known as a Bond girl in the 1973 James Bond film ‘Live and Let Die’.
Seymour has starred in an array of films throughout her extensive career, including 'Somewhere In Time', 'Wedding Crashers', 'Love', 'Wedding', 'Marriage', 'Little Italy', 'The War with Grandpa' and 'Friendsgiving' amongst many others.
In addition to her acting career, Seymour is also the founder of the Open Hearts Foundation and she has co-written several children’s books and self help books. She has also created the Jane Seymour Designs label which includes sculptures, jewellery, furniture and fashion.
Jane also met well known local teacher and musican Noel O'Sullivan and even posted a video onto her Instagram which has 281K followers!
"Happy #OpenHeartsSunday! Some of life’s most special moments happen when you least expect them. We met Mr. O’Sullivan here at Hilliard’s in Killarney beautifully playing the piano. Get this, he does it all by ear as he can’t read music!!
"Loved singing ‘Imagine’ together and getting to know him. Today I encourage you to say YES to new experiences outside of your routines, you never know what wonderful moments are just around the corner!"
featured a hugely exciting auction, with over €4,000 alone being raised for items including a signed David Clifford match jersey; a cue signed by each player, as well as a cue signed by the late, great, Alex Higgins.
Speaking after the presentation, Marisa Reidy of Recovery Haven said they were absolutely blown away by the amount of money raised on the night.
“There are so many people to thank, but none more so than organiser and chief Connie O'Sullivan and MC David Joyce who did so much work in the background, as well as Pat Eviston for choosing Recovery Haven as the beneficiary and being such a generous sponsor,” she said.
“A huge debt of gratitude too to our very own Kerry All Star David Clifford who donated one of his match jerseys to the auction and of course the extraordinary generosity of the people in the room - it truly blew us away and we are indebted to everyone for making the night such a resounding success.”
Housing hopes for Polly site
| By Sean Moriarty
Kerry County Council could build social housing on part of the Pretty Polly site.
The abandoned factory on Park Road has been identified as a site for Kerry Educational and Training Board’s new Killarney college.
While full plans for the new third level institution have yet to be revealed, it is understood that not all of the site will be used to build the college. The remaining portion is being ear- marked as a potential location for social housing.
At a recent meeting of the Killarney Municipal District, Cllr Maura Healy-Rae asked if the Council would progress plans to build homes on the site.
“Part of the site had been earmarked for social housing delivery and that the overall plan for the totality of the site, including potential use of portion of the site for social housing, is being reviewed currently,” a Council official told the meeting. Once this review is complete, members of Killarney Municipal District will be informed.
