Welcome

UN, sun, sun! We have all been enjoying our Mediterranean heatwave and spending a lot of time in the outdoors if we are lucky! If you’re like me even when I’m out in the sun l’ll have a house magazine in my hands planning my next project, or just drooling over some house porn! I never tire of looking at other people’s homes. Our house this month is a beautifully presented home with an amazing extension and manicured garden. You could just move straight in and sit in the garden with your legs up! It’s on the market with DNG Ted Healy, Killarney. If you are expecting a baby or have just arrived home with a bundle of joy or two like Beyoncé and Jay Z, our top tips and latest trends for a nursery are just for you, or if you have a budding teenager in the house, we are looking at the perfect teenage boys or girls room and how to keep it simple but with style. Enjoy the weekend, hopefully the sun will return soon, I’m off on my holidays next month, so Kadri Bormeister is stepping in to the editor’s chair, to bring you entranceways, including hallways and boot rooms.
Yours in decorating,

Quality Choice,
S
UPERBLY appointed living accommodation is on offer at Number 3 Castlelough Avenue on Loreto Road. Launched to the market by DNG Ted Healy, it has already attracted brisk interest – and small wonder, given the quality on offer both inside and out. This detached property, built in 2002, has been fully refurbished and extended in recent years and now comprises 150 square metres of chic and comfortable living accommodation. The ground floor comprises an entrance hallway with a home office/study off it. The sitting room, finished in walnut flooring, connects to the large kitchen/dining area via a set of double doors. The sitting room comes with a large bay window and cast-iron fireplace with Stanley insert stove. The kitchen/dining room is finished with a tiled floor and boasts built-in display units. The fitted kitchen, which is hand painted, comes with integrated double oven, gas hob, extractor, fridge/ freezer and is completed with a large centre island with build-in kitchen presses. The kitchen opens out onto the new extension: a large family living space with double doors to the rear garden. The remaining groundfloor accommodation comprises a galley style utility room with fitted units and a fully tiled shower room. The first floor comprises of four bedrooms complete with fitted wardrobes. The master bedroom has en suite facilities. Externally the property has been maintained to an exceptionally high standard. The rear garden area has been landscaped with patio and raised planter beds. There is also the detached shed/garage. The property has a zoned oil central heating system with underfloor heat to the new extension and radiators elsewhere. Strong interest is expected by sole selling agent Ted Healy who has recently successfully negotiated the sales of three properties in the adjoining Rossdara development. “Demand in this area is strong at present. The fact this is a detached property is attracting a lot of interest,” said Ted. •
The property was launched to the market for €325,000.

IDS grow up so fast – in the blink of an eye they go from watching cartoons to making their own to upload to YouTube! Changing up your little boy’s room to a teenage dream can be a difficult time. Saying goodbye to all the toys you so lovingly bought can be a big change for you if not your tween. Here are some tips to help the transition. Keep it simple, especially if your space is tight modern furniture with clean lines gives a sense of space. A desk is a good idea especially if they use the room to study. If you have the space, a chair for reading (or
throwing clothes on!) is a must or go for a beanbag – great for chilling out. Hal Lou has an amazing Elephant Beanbag, which has a mattress inside and doubles up as a bed; great if they have friends over. Chose a neutral colour for your walls. Grey is still the neutral of choice for the foreseeable future and matches almost every colour. You can add an accent colour on cushions, or a chair, rug or print. Including your budding teenager in the design is a must – try and steer them away from the black walls though! But a large poster of their favorite band can make the space feel more like their own.
Storage The toys are gone but if there are a few that they (or you) don’t want to part with like cars or a Lego creation, put them on display on a bookshelf or funky metal cabinet with some glass doors (saves on dusting).
M
From Barbies To A Real-Live Ken ost of these tips are relevant for your teenage girl’s room – the accent colours may change but the basics are mostly the same. Maybe a dressing table could be included for all that makeup!

Baby’s Room
I
The Top Trends For 2017 In Nurseries BABY animal prints are a huge trend this year, and work well for both boys and girls. Check out floral wallpaper for the girls. Moving away from all the neutrals we love Jardin Crème designed by Nathalie Lete; it’s got such a bohemian style. If your taste is more subtle try Bouquet Bonbon wallpaper from the Little Greene Paint Company. Use a pop of colour by painting a piece of furniture in Mischief Pink. Little Greene is available from Corcoran’s Furniture Killarney.
F YOU’RE due a new arrival or are just moving baby to their own room, here are our top tips for decorating the space fit for your little princess or prince. Pick one thing you love – a picture, or throw, for instance –and work your room around it. Art is a great place to start; try one large piece or if you have smaller pictures, group them together for maximum effect. Don’t just restrict yourself to baby shops for your little one’s room. The chair, rug or art can all be bought from your favorite furniture shop, and the plus side of this is they will stand the test of time and won’t need to be changed out when baby grows. If you have the space a chair of some kind – preferably comfy – is a great investment. Choose something that has classic lines that can fit into another room in your home if you’re tight for space when you need to replace a cot for a bed. Choose a light you can dim or place a lamp in the room so when you check on baby you don’t wake them! Organization is key for your sanity; looking for wipes at three in the morning is not funny at all! A changing table or a great alternative option is a chest of drawers with a change mat on top, as it can be used later on for clothes storage. Babies are only babies for a very short time.
