Ross Golf Course suits all types of golfers Ross Golf Course is situated within walking distance of Killarney town centre. It prides itself as being one of the best 9 hole golf courses in Ireland. With its magnificent backdrop of the McGillycuddy Reeks mountain range, this parkland course has become a firm favourite on the golfing circuit. Killarney Racecourse is a hive of activity during the summer racing festivals that take place every year. Prior to the establishment of Ross Golf Course, the racecourse lay dormant for 48 weeks of the year. The opening of Ross Golf Course breathed new life into a spectacularly beautiful part of Killarney town. The course was opened in 1995 and has grown from strength to strength with vibrant gents, ladies and youth memberships. In addition to its magnificent setting, Ross is a great course in its own right, offering a good mix of pars and variety through the course. With the option of doing a 9 or full 18 hole round, the course suits all types of golfers from hardened veterans to beginners. For those golfers new to the golfing scene, lessons are also available with Mark Heinmann, the highly acclaimed on site pro. The course is all year round with the
exception of race days at the Killarney Racecourse. In contrast to the pounding of the hooves and the packed grandstands, peace and solitude reign at Ross for most of the year. Naturally, the
course is influenced by the racetrack but it is not defined by it. The holes are situated both inside and outside the track rails and this variety adds a nice balance as you complete your round.
You can find full details about the course, green fees, membership and other information on the Ross Golf Course website.

A golfer’s paradise in Killarney Killarney has often been described as a golfer’s paradise and Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, located in the surroundings of unrivalled lake and mountain scenery, is certainly one of the jewels of Irish golf. Year-on-year, the club has made huge strides forward in terms of course presentation, condition, consistency and playability. The most recent headline project at the club was the re-design of Killeen’s 1st green complex. The project was finished last year and opened for play on May 1. The complex has been re-modelled to now encompass a protective and eye-catching wall on the lake shore side as well as a larger run-off area with natural swales and mounding which mimic its famous mountainous environs. The changes made really raise the bar from a first impressions standpoint, and warrant the golfer’s full attention for this iconic opening hole. The club offers reduced green fee rates for Killeen and Mahony’s Point to GUI/ILGU members all year round. Societies are wel-
come at the club, with green fees available from just €35. In addition, the club runs a series of Open Days throughout the year, with the first one of the season scheduled to take place on March 18 (Bank Holiday Monday). Local husband and wife team, David and Geraldine McCarthy, provide the catering at the club. In addition to the clubhouse bar menu, daily specials are available, and the team can cater for groups of all sizes and budgets. Killarney Golf & Fishing Club currently has a number of membership options, all of which offer superb value for money. Membership benefits include the full use of the clubhouse gym and sauna, as well as discounts on bar and Pro Shop purchases. Members can also avail of significantly reduced green fees for their golfing guests in addition to complimentary green fees at Fota Island Golf Club. For further information, contact the club on 064 6631034 or email reservations@ killarneygolfclub.ie.
