In its 10th year, the highlight of the week was cuisine from around the world where the children and staff sampled traditional dishes from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Albania, Italy, Croatia, Ukraine, Finland, Italy, America, Vietnam to name but a few.
The parents of the children made great effort to prepare food for the entire school to sample and the school put on a show of their very own Eurovision to entertain the many families that attended which included the Ukrainian National anthem and also the winning song 'Stefania'.
What was your favourite part of Culture week at The Mon?
Callum: "I was born in UK and arrived in Ireland when I was 7. Cultural week is one of my favourite weeks during the school year. I wore my English rugby jersey and I really enjoyed the Irish and African Drumming work shop with Sammie from Uganda and Tim O'Shea from Kilcummin".
Ben: "It is such a fun week. The highlight is the food. There was so much choice."
Milosz: "My Mum made homemade pierogies which are small half-moon dumplings full of many different fillings so it was great to see my friends enjoying a taste of Poland.”
Regwan: “Everyone did a show and tell of their native countries so my brother Ridwan and I had the opportunity to dress in our native clothing which made a change from wearing our uniforms. We also expressed our culture through self-portrait art work.
Marc: "It is my favourite week of the year"
