MACademy students sell-out Matilda Show
Killarney was singing all things ‘Revolting’ after The MACademy’s sell out performance of ‘Revolting Kids The Musical’ which took to the stage in The INEC last week.
In their second year running the students of The MACadmey worked tirelessly to create a musical masterpiece on one of Irelands greatest stages. Based on the Roald Dahl book ‘Matilda’ it featured songs and dramatic excerpts such as ‘Naughty’ and the unforgettable ’Revolting Children’.
The show was put together by the schools director Lily MacMonagle, along with endless work from Choreographers Eabha Healy and Linda Fitzgerald, Vocal Coach Makaela Crowley and Drama Assistant Rachel Griffin. Superb performances were made by all the students, but a special mention has to be given to Ms Trunchbull played by Tommy O’Connor Rathmore, Ms Honey played by Elisha Rose Gabriel and The
Wormwood family played by Amelie Hussey, Leo Riordan and Dave Mc Carthy and the four ‘Matilda’ characters who grew up through the show were perfectly portrayed by four different students, Fiadh Hayes, Abbie Quill, Clíona Kelly and Kara Keane. Roles were also shared between other cast members allowing more chances to be given to students on stage.
There were some outstanding vocalists throughout the whole show, with a mention to Frankie Tracey, Lucy Moran and Evie Spillane. All the students performed in the show, from the MACTots (aged 4-6) right through to the MAC Seniors (aged 16) and it was a chorus that wouldn’t have been out of place in the West End.
The MACademy would like to thank the students of St Brigid’s and St Oliver’s who created a fantastic visual on stage with all of their artwork and to all of the volunteers who helped make the show a success.
