A N OT E F R O M TH E D I RE CTO R September 26, 2020 Dear cherished friends of WAM, The moment has arrived! Soon, you will experience WAM Gala Gloved! We promise a night of allure and grace, a night defined by ingenuity and creativity. We wanted to graciously greet you at our exquisitely renovated museum. Alas, world events have changed so many things for this year. WAM responded quickly and imaginatively. We are so eager to share visual delights and colorful personalities—wrapped around the verve of high fashion.
As a guest to the virtual WAM Gala Gloved, by definition you are an insider to WAM’s loyal following. Your involvement and support mean the world to us. I encourage you—let temptation overcome you as you review auction opportunities in this program booklet! Would you like to role play as the WAM curator for a day? Bid on that item. Would you go into rapture while savoring Elderslie Farm cheeses across the fall? Bid on that item. Would your heart warm and chest beat with pride by lending support to conservation of prized WAM artwork? Bid on that item! Plus, dinners and trips and more! The auction proceeds sustain your Wichita Art Museum in this historic year when loyal support is dearly needed. Please do take part! Thanks to the WAM Gala Gloved Sponsors, and thanks to you as our virtual merrymakers for Saturday evening. We are here to impress, and I will be eager to hear what you think about our Gala. Fond regards, and I’ll be toasting you soon!

V I RT UAL GALA We are delighted to welcome you to our Gloved event on Saturday night. To make the most of the experience, read on! LOG IN TO THE SHOW USING WI-FI Are you viewing with friends? We think it’s fun to collectively watch the show on a large screen, but we also want to see YOUR NAME (not just the host / hostess name) pop up in our chat feed. Here’s how to make that happen: Take your phone, tablet, laptop or other device to your host’s home. Connect to your host’s Wi-Fi network. (Cell signal is slow on Zoom. Wi-Fi is better. And a direct connect to a router is best.) We want this to be as interactive as possible, which means we WANT to see YOUR chat show up in the stream. GRANTING WIRELESS ACCESS TO GUESTS We think it’s fun to collectively watch the show on a large screen, and we are also wanting to see a lot of chatter and bidding. To ensure each guest (or couple) is able to individually be logged into the show, could you please do the following: To avoid posting delays for the chat and bids to appear, a wireless signal is best. (Cell signal is terribly slow for Zoom.) Please consider setting up a guest network for your party to use while they are at the house, or sharing your home’s wireless password for each guest to access your network. We hope to see lots of comments in the chat from all of our guests and hosts. Need assistance? Call 316-268-4921.
