CV
I have four years work experience as a graphic designer in South Korea. I originally studied for a degree in Visual Communication Design and I recently completed studies for a MA in Illustration from Arts University College at Bournemouth. Over the last 6 years, my practice has been in the areas of editorial and publication design as well as design education for children. I am used to both working alone and in teams, directing and generating design elements including illustration and photographs.

Gorae (The Whale) Editorial design Sep. 2006 - Jan. 2008 Gorae is a monthly magazine for children. I designed 15 issues and promotion materials, directing cartoons, illustrations and photographs.
Letâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Talk About Bullying Editorial design + illustration Sep. 2007 This was an interview article of children who had experiences of bullying or being bullied. Photographs of interviewees could not be used in order to protect their privacy; instead, I made the illustrations of Bullied Bear to represent how children felt about the matter.
When Letters were Pictures Book design Aug. 2008 This is childrenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s typography workbook developed for a design education program. As a researcher/ designer of the project, I participated in writing and designing the book as well as leading the workshop for children.
Anger is My Friend Book design Sep. 2008 This is childrenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s book about anger developed for a workshop with an art therapist. It is designed to enable various activities about managing negative emotions.
Rubber Shoes Book design Oct. 2008 This book is a childrenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s workbook designed for a multidisciplinary education program. Using the shoes as the main theme, the book explores the area of art, history, culture, social studies and so on.
The Blue Boy Book design + illustration Aug. 2012 This is a story about diversity and acceptance. The colours against grey-scale background were used to visualise the differences and discrimination effectively; Rotis Semi-serif font was used to represent the theme of fitting-in.
Hongshim Tour Identity + book design Jan. 2008 Hongshim Tour was the name for a trip to Holy Land organised by Fr. Daniel Hong. I designed the Logo, guidebook and T-shirt. A bearâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s face was used in the logo to represent Fr. Hong whose nickname was Teddy Bear; Pink colour for the logo was chosen by the group members who were mostly young women in their 20-30s.

A Souvenir from Holy Land Book design Feb. 2008 I made this book using my own writing and photos after travelling to Israel during Gaza Conflict. The incidents greatly affected the journey and the tension was reflected in my design.
The Picture of Dorian Gray Book design + illustration Oct. 2010 These illustrations were made for the ‘Interpretation of Text’ unit I took at AUCB. The brief was to make images and cover design for Folio Society’s new edition of the book.
Red Mermaid Book design + illustration May. 2012 A picture book about my birthmark, port-wine stain. The illustrations were made to resemble the colour and style of the birthmark. The book was digitally printed and hand-bound.
Come and See Invitation design + illustration Feb. 2011 Invitation cards for an ordination. The client, Fr. Paul Nah, chose the phrase â&#x20AC;&#x153;Come and seeâ&#x20AC;? from the bible to be the motto of his life as a catholic priest. The illustration is based on his reflection and my visual interpretation about the phrase.

Wedding Sketchbook Book design + illustration Jul. 2011 This is a booklet designed as a record of a wedding. I made drawings during the wedding of a friend and later digitally edited the sketchbook. the book was given as a wedding gift to the couple after digitally printed and hand-bound.
Perfect Skin Illustration Feb. 2012 These are documentary illustrations about skin. Through interviewing and making portraits of young women who have different skin conditions, the project questioned the meaning of beauty.
Catholic Youth Bible Group Identity design May 2009 Catholic Youth Bible Group is one of the largest religious organisation for young catholics in Korea. I designed the identity system to reflect the motto and vision of the group.
