Celebrating our Partners in Health Care Donors Anshu and Romia Arora are members of our Partners in Health Care monthly donor club. Anshu is a local RE/MAX realtor, and Romia works at Surrey Hospital as an EEG/EMG technician. They are both passionate about supporting leadingedge health care, and they understand how important our regional hospital is for our community. Recently, they went on a tour of Surrey Hospital to learn more about the wide range of Pediatric (children’s) programs available here. “We’ve been in Surrey since 2007. Surrey is a rapidly growing community and the hospital does great work. Both our kids were born here and the staff that works here is beyond amazing. Supporting the hospital just seemed like an opportunity to support a community icon.”
We thank Mr. and Mrs. Arora for their dedicated and inspiring support. They are making a real difference for patient care, and many lives will be touched by their ongoing spirit of generosity.

The little things make a difference. When you’re sick, it takes more than medicine to make you feel better. Give a little. Give a lot. Together we change lives.

SPRING 2017
...our thoracic (chest) surgeons could use your help. Did you know you have a world-class thoracic surgery team, led by Dr. James Bond, here in Surrey—right in your own backyard? Dr. Bond and his team have asked that we reach out to the community to find the funds to purchase the best equipment possible for new “keyhole” surgery (also known as Minimally Invasive Surgery – MIS). MIS equipment makes life-saving cancer surgery more comfortable, with less risk for the thousands of patients who need surgery for lung, stomach and esophageal cancer. Patients from all over the Fraser Valley and other parts of BC come to Surrey Memorial Hospital for specialized MIS surgery procedures. In fact, thanks to Dr. Bond and his team, new MIS procedures have been developed which are only available at Surrey Memorial. We are fortunate to have such a stellar group of specialists which is why we are raising $2 million to give them the best tools available. Ultimately, patients in our region will benefit greatly. We have reached an important milestone earlier this year. Thanks to the generosity of the community we
have been able to purchase the PINPOINT Endoscopic Fluorescence Imaging System. We are the first hospital in BC to have this important equipment. It provides “real-time” visualization of blood flow in vessels, tissues and organs during the MIS procedure. This is important because it helps the surgeons take immediate action if they see potential problems occurring due to blood flow. The goal? To minimize post-operative complications and ensure quicker healing for the patient. D r. James Bond using new PINPOINT Endoscopic Fluorescence Imaging System
