Baru Seed Butter

Say hello to your new favourite superseed butter. Get the delicious taste of peanuts, without peanuts! How? We hear you ask! By using Natural Traditions Roasted Baru Seeds. Packed with plant-based protein and healthy fats, you’ll be putting your baru butter on toast, on apple slices, on crackers, in baked goods, desserts, smoothies and more!

Ingredients Method

1 cup Natural Traditions Roasted 1. Melt coconut oil. Baru Seeds 4 tbsp Nutiva Coconut Oil 1 tsp Organic Traditions Yacon Syrup ¼ tsp salt 2. Combine melted coconut oil, baru seeds, yacon syrup, salt and cinnamon in a food processor or high powered blender. ¼ tsp Organic Traditions Cinnamon 3. Blend until smooth or until you reach desired consistency.

Tip:

For a creamier texture, try peeling your baru seeds prior to blending OR increase the quantity of melted coconut oil! Store your baru butter in an airtight jar, out of direct sunlight. Do not refrigerate, as the butter will solidify! Keeps for up to 2 weeks.

Now that you have mastered the art of making baru seed butter, how about a healthy and delicious recipe that combines the baru seed butter with delicious cacao powder for a chocolatey treat the whole family will love!

Turmeric MCT Latte

To make the Coconut Milk (for 1.5 cups):

1/3 cup Nutiva Organic Coconut Manna 1 cup water 1/2 tsp maple syrup Pinch of sea salt

Ingredients

1. Measure then melt the coconut manna. 2. Place the coconut manna, water, maple syrup, and sea salt in a blender. 3. Blend for about 10 seconds. 4. Pour into a glass jar, and store in the fridge until you’re ready to use. A delicious caffeine-free way to start the day feeling boosted that will sustain you throughout the day. Well, at least until lunchtime! As a bonus, we’re also sharing with you our Coconut Milk recipe, one of the ingredients, made with Nutiva Coconut Manna.

Method

1. Line a cake/muffin tray with paper cases. 2. Mix the cacao powder, yacon syrup and coconut oil together, then fill each cup with about 1 tablespoons of the mixture, spreading up the sides of the paper cases. 3. Place the tray in the freezer to set the cases for about 10-15 minutes. 4. Remove the chocolate cases from the freezer and add roughly 1 tsp of baru butter to each case. Ingredients 5. Place cups back in the freezer and allow to set for another 15 minutes. For the chocolate: 1/2 cup Organic Traditions Cacao Powder 3 tbsp Yacon Syrup ½ cup Nutiva Coconut Oil (melted) 6. Remove from the freezer and seal the tops with the remaining chocolate mixture. Place in the freezer and allow to set for the final time (at least 15 For the filling: minutes - patience!) Baru Seed Butter (see recipe before) Enjoy straight from the freezer, or transfer and store in the fridge!

To make the Turmeric Latte:

Ingredients

1/2 cup coconut milk (see recipe above) 1 cup unsweetened almond milk 1 tbsp Nutiva Organic MCT Powder 1 tsp Organic Traditions Turmeric 1/4 tsp ground ginger Pinch of black pepper, optional ½ tsp ground cinnamon or 1 cinnamon stick

Method

1. Place all the ingredients in a small saucepan on medium-low heat. Whisk until combined. 2. Bring to a simmer, then remove the cinnamon stick (if using) and pour the latte into a blender. 3. Blend on high speed for 30 seconds to 1 minute, until frothy. 4. Pour into a mug and serve. Enjoy!
