Prayer Devotional/Journal INTRODUCTION Prayer is foundational to our lives as believers. No matter how old we are or what our level of spiritual maturity may be, prayer is a guiding principle that allows us to openly communicate with our loving God. We can take comfort in knowing that even in seasons of tremendous difficulty, God hears our prayers. As we take the next few weeks to further develop our prayer life, this 31-Day devotional and journal will be a helpful tool for us to engage in the word and pray daily. As 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says, we are called to “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, [and] give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” In addition to the other items found in your Kingdom Prayer Kit, this prayer devotional and journal was designed for you to deepen your relationship with God. For 31 days, we encourage you to consistently set aside time to meet with God in prayer and reflection. Although this devotional can be followed individually, it is also structured so that you can have meaningful conversations with your family, friends, and peers along the way. Each day we will ask you to do three things: Read, Talk, and Pray. Read – Read each selected passage slowly and thoughtfully. Talk – After reading the short reflection, discuss the passage and reflection with others. Pray – In addition to the prayer provided, what is the Spirit leading you to pray for? This devotional also includes blank lined pages for your reflections. Feel free to use these pages as space to answer questions, jot down prayers, or write what you hear from God. Remember that prayer is not just a one-sided conversation. Make sure that you are listening to hear from God, just as much as you are speaking and praying to God. By the end of these 31days, we hope that your prayer life will have grown, stretched, and been strengthened in many ways. Also, it is our sincerest prayer that this devotional equips you to pray in community with one another during these challenging times. 2

PRAYER FOR IMPACT

Have you completed your census? Every ten years we are posed with this question. In basic terms, participating in a census is just officially giving a count of people. Today countries conduct in-depth censuses, mostly for taxation purposes, which is not much different from Rome during the time of Jesus’ birth. Let’s be honest, no one really likes the idea of taxes, and such as it was for the people living under the rule of Caesar Augustus. However, as the saying goes “when in Rome…” While it appears that the census was taken for the pleasure of the Roman Emperor at the expense of the poor, God used the occasion for a far more important purpose unbeknownst to Caesar. As one writer stated, “God used the Roman census to fulfill prophecy and point to the greatest ruler of all, the Messiah, the King of Kings.” Hence, the census brought Jesus to Bethlehem. God has a way of working “all things for the good…” It was necessary for Joseph and Mary to journey afar to give an account not merely for themselves, but ultimately their obedience had a lasting impact on future generations. Consider the impact of our decisions today on the generations that will come behind us. Have a conversation today with someone about completing the census. In your conversation for today, be sure to discuss the value of input and its impact.

3

Luke 2: 1–2 (NIV)

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)

Lord, thank you for counting me as one of your own. Help me to use what I have so that others do not have to go without. Teach me to be more compassionate towards the least, the lost and those left out. Amen.

PRAYER FOR JUSTICE

Throughout the Old Testament we see how God delivered his people from their oppressors and established them as a new nation. Oftentimes, God used signs and wonders to demonstrate his power and authority. However, God also used people to communicate his plan and will for their lives as a newly established nation. Today’s Scripture tells us that God appointed judges and officials for the purpose of judging the people fairly. They were to make decisions for the people directed with standards of objectivity, sincerity and divine consciousness. Leaders were also appointed to pursue the common good of the people. The relationship between good leadership and the common good of people was established. Understand, good leadership and governance were not intended to be at the will of the judges. Both judges and leaders were to uphold justice for all people, and especially those who could not speak for themselves. Thousands of years later, the work of leaders and the people are still needed in our democratic society. Christian voices and votes are needed to bring Christian perspectives on systems/governances that impact the people and places in which we live. Keep reading down to v.20 and take note that judges ought to lead with integrity, meaning that judges and leaders should be honest in administering their duties.

Have a conversation today with someone about the role of justice/ injustice in our communities. In your conversation for today, make sure to consider: What would Jesus do? What would Jesus have me to do? 4

Deuteronomy 16:19 (NIV) Appoint judges and officials for each of your tribes in every town the Lord your God is giving you, and they shall judge the people fairly.

Lord, thank you for being my Strong Tower and Righteous Judge. Thank you that you are a merciful God who does not reward us according to that which we deserve. Help me to be sensitive to the needs of others. Teach me to use my voice to speak up and out against injustice and give me a heart of compassion to serve a cause that brings you glory. Amen.

PRAYER AGAINST FEAR

No one could have predicted the kind of year that 2020 has shown us thus far. In only a few months, not even a year, 2020 has distinguished itself as a year like none other. While we expect each new year to have its own set of challenges and disappointments, highs and lows, joys and pains, 2020 hits different. We find ourselves living in a divisive and polarizing political climate, racial injustice, and inequity at all levels. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated matters and forever changed our lives. In today’s Scripture, Jesus reminds us that the Christian life is not a life free of trials and troubles. Jesus spoke plainly with the disciples and told them “you will have sorrow now” as he prepared to leave them. But Jesus also told them “…you will rejoice…” Jesus understood how the disciples felt and knew that they needed a word of hope and encouragement. He tells them the harsh reality of what was to come, not to frighten them, but so that they may have peace. Have peace in the midst of the chaos? It seems counterintuitive. Jesus goes on to say, “but take heart!” In other words, have confidence! Confidence in the fact that Jesus has “overcome” and “conquered” the world! Jesus’ prophetic exclamation is good news for those who trust Him. Even though it appears that the world has an advantage our faith reminds us that we have victory in Christ. During this pandemic have your conversations been fear-focused or faith-focused? In your conversation for today, share how your faith has played a role during this season.

5

John 16:33 (NIV) I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

Jesus, thank you for being my constant source of encouragement in difficult times. Remind me to cast my cares and concerns upon you. Because you have overcome the world, I don’t have to panic while living through this pandemic season. Help me to choose faith over fear. Amen.

PRAYER FOR FREEDOM

We have freedom in Christ Jesus. Jesus has completely set us free and liberated us from the bondage of sin. Believers no longer live under the oppression that comes with sin. Jesus’ finished work on Calvary’s Cross set us free. Our freedom in Christ does not mean that we are free to “live as we please.” Living in the freedom is living in the Spirit. We recognize true freedom; it is not living to the flesh and pleasing our earthly appetites; it is freedom to be unleashed to live the life that God has for us. Freedom in Christ is available to all. We need to take hold of this freedom in spirit and stand firm so that we do not become ensnared again by the “yoke of slavery” that once enslaved us. The word “yoke” used here by the writer Paul refers to a wooden harness that is fastened over the necks of animals to get them to pull a cart or plow. The yoke restricts the freedom of the animal. Likewise, when we allow sin to become our master it rules our thoughts and actions. Know that in our own strength it is impossible to live out Galatians 5:1. However, through the power of the Holy Spirit we can totally be set free from anything that may be holding us back from living a life of freedom in Christ Jesus. Have a conversation today with someone about freedom. In your conversation for today, make sure to ask: What area of your life do you need freedom? 6

Galatians 5:1 (NIV) It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Lord, thank you for liberating my soul. Help me to release and let go of things that have me bound. Teach me to live in complete freedom and stand firm in your word. Amen.

PRAYER FOR REPENTANCE

Repentance is often misunderstood. Repentance is not merely guilt or regret. A person can be sorry for the consequences of their actions, but not change their heart or examine how they think and believe. Sincere repentance involves more than simply saying sorry for my actions towards God and others. In today’s Scripture, the Apostle Paul contrasts worldly and godly sorrow. Paul suggests, if a person’s sin and sorrow is sorrow towards God, it will lead to true repentance. True repentance is a change of heart that allows a person to turn away from their sin and turn back to God. If a person’s remorse and regret remain selfish and self-centered, this kind of worldly sorrow only brings death. Have you ever heard a person say they are sorry for some misdeed, but their actions seem to indicate otherwise? The efficacy of their words is nullified by their behavior. The fruit of repentance is that a person has a desire to put right their actions. Now, it must be said that there are some wrongs that cannot be put right. For example when a person’s life is taken because of violence, there is no action a person can take to bring the person back to life. Repentance acknowledges the harm against God and others yet does not erase the consequences of a person’s actions. Repentance reminds us of our inadequacy, the weakness of our flesh, and our need for God. Have a conversation today with someone about repentance. In your conversation for today, discuss the benefits of repentance.

7

2 Corinthians 7:10 (NIV) Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

Lord, thank you for your unfailing love. Show me areas of my life where I have not lived according to your Word. Teach me the importance of repentance. Help me to repent for my thoughts and actions that caused harm to myself and others. Grant me the grace to walk in Godly forgiveness and seek forgiveness from those I harmed. Amen.

A PRAYER FOR GOD TO SEND ME

It’s not always comfortable to think about those that are labeled as poor, those who are imprisoned, spiritually or physically, and those who are oppressed in our world, pushed to the margins and forgotten. However, during this time of pandemic crisis, and senseless deaths of our Black and Brown brothers and sisters, the truth of the inequalities and systemic racism that exists in America is much more evident. But, as Jesus at the launch of his earthly ministry, stood in the synagogue reading from the Prophet Isaiah said, “the spirit of the Lord is on me…” The Spirit of the Lord is on each one of us that confesses Jesus as Lord and Savior. In fact, the Spirit of the Lord is within us. Wherever we go, God is there! Our assignment as followers of Jesus Christ is to be as Christ was and do as Christ did. That’s right! We are called to proclaim the good news to those who are labeled, set aside, set out, disregarded and feeling oppressed. God uses us to speak words of freedom and liberation that whom God sets free is free, indeed! God doesn’t just want us to use our words, though. Jesus also fulfilled this Scripture with his actions. He chose to be with people, to be in the community, to be present with those called sinners, prostitutes, thieves and robbers, the oppressed and the forgotten. Jesus was in their midst. The questions for us: Where are we? Where is God sending us? Are we choosing comfort and convenience over calling and commitment? God, through Jesus, give us the anointing that breaks all yokes. God will give us exactly what we need to be His presence in this world. Don’t be overwhelmed. Don’t be afraid. Trust that the Holy Spirit in you will tell you where to go, what to do and what to say. Connect with a friend today and pray for those whom our society has forgotten, those whom God has a heart to heal, set free and deliver.

Luke 4:18-20 (NIV)

The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. He began by saying to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.

Our God, thank you for sending your Son, Jesus Christ, into the world, to proclaim your Word, that heals, gives freedom to the prisoners, recovery of sight to the blind and sets the oppressed free. I believe that as you sent Jesus, you also send me. Thank you for anointing me to pray, to speak, to act on behalf of healing, righteousness, justice and freedom. Amen.

A PRAYER TO FIND MY VOICE

Our faith informs us that God knew us before we were born. While we may not understand the full meaning of this truth, it doesn’t make it any less true! God is who God is whether we believe it or not. According to this Scripture, God is the one who formed us in our mother’s womb. God is the one who set us apart for His purposes. God has given us a purpose and God has given us a voice. One of our greatest challenges is discovering our voice. What has God given us to say? What cause has God put in our hearts to champion? What wrong does God want me to set right? What has God set me apart to do? This Scripture verse is included in the prophet Jeremiah’s call story. It was time for Jeremiah to come into the purpose for which God had formed him. It was time for him to use his voice to be a prophet to the people of Judah. Jeremiah has been referred as the “weeping prophet.” His message was not popular, but he was compelled to preach it, even when he didn’t want to do it. Jeremiah says of his voice that it was like “a fire shut up in my bones…”. If Jeremiah was to try to hold it in, he could not. This message, this fire, was his voice. Jeremiah didn’t have to make up his voice. He didn’t have to sound like someone else. He didn’t look at what others were doing to find his voice. He didn’t wait to have over 1,000 followers on social media to use his voice. He only needed to listen to God, trust what God was saying to him, open his mouth and speak! Connect with a friend and discuss this question, “What is your voice?” Commit to pray with and for each other to live true to your God-given voices.

9

Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV) Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.

Father, I believe that you have given me a voice but there are times that I am uncertain about what my voice actually is. I confess that sometimes I get distracted by everyone else’s voice. I pray that you would give me clarity on my distinct voice. I pray that I would take time to listen to you and trust what I hear you saying to me about who I am. I recommit myself, Lord, to your purposes for my life. Amen.

A PRAYER FOR THOSE WHO MOURN

Do you remember the song on Sesame Street, “one of these things is not like the other?” It was a game that helped you identify which one of those things didn’t belong. That is what comes to my mind upon first reading this verse; blessed and mourn don’t sound the same and one doesn’t seem to go with the other. During this pandemic and time of protest and pain, many people are experiencing loss. Often, when we consider mourning and grief we don’t immediately connect this to our thoughts of being blessed. Being blessed in our human mind connotes “having it all,” times of great celebration and great joy, not times of sadness and loss. But, in this Scripture in Matthew, Jesus is speaking to his disciples, teaching them a new meaning of being blessed, being favored by God, called the Beatitudes. This is God’s promise to those who mourn - we will be comforted. This is the greatness of reading God’s word; I find promises that open my mind and heart to new realities in God. The Psalm writer provides another promise - the Lord is close to me when I am brokenhearted, when my spirit is crushed. There are currently close to 200,000 people in the United States who have passed as a result of the Coronavirus. Each one may have family members and friends who have broken hearts and crushed spirits. The blessing is not the loss. The blessing is that God will comfort, whether it is through the presence of our friends and family, whether it is through the remembrance of who or what we lost, whether it is through the intercessory prayers of our church. We can trust that God is close to us. Our God is not only the God of the mountain, God is also a God of the valley. During our times of sorrow, we can cry out to God and expect that in time we will be comforted. Our lives may never be the same, but the presence of God in our lives can strengthen us as we take steps toward healing. Do you know someone that has experienced loss? How can you be a source of God’s comfort? Commit to call someone today and pray for those who mourn.

10

Matthew 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Psalm 34:18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Lord, there are many in our families and communities that are experiencing loss in this season. I pray for (call their names) and bring them before you today. I pray that you will use me as source of comfort for them. Heal, Lord, their broken hearts and crushed spirits. Be present for them, Father, in ways that are meaningful for them and in ways that they know it is you! Amen.

PRAYING TO OVERCOME MY FEARS

Have you ever experienced fear that keeps you from moving in boldness and authority toward what you know God has called and gifted you to do? I mean it has been confirmed and affirmed. In fact, you have seen yourself operating in the gift. You have received training and mentorship from others in the field. Now, comes your time to be propelled into that which God has created you and you are fearful. You are intimidated. Others around you may be older, have more experience or be more confident and compelling than you. You may be concerned about what others will say or if you will offend someone. Well, you are not alone. Timothy, the Apostle Paul’s mentee, had a “gift”, a calling for teaching and preaching the Gospel. Timothy was trained by Paul and was Paul’s co-laborer in the ministry. Paul referred to Timothy as “his son” in the ministry. While all of this was true, apparently Timothy still lacked confidence. Paul speaks directly, calling a spade a spade, “this spirit of fear is not from God.” We are given self-discipline to restrain ourselves from overindulgence and to control thoughts that attempt to attack our mind. Are you fearful to move in the gift and the calling that God has for you? Connect with a friend today to discuss and pray. 11

2 Timothy 1:7-8

For this reason, I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. So, do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner.

Father, thank you that I declare, “you have not given me a spirit of fear.” The Spirit you give me, Lord, is a Spirt of power, love and self-discipline. This belongs to me! I can move forward, today, in my gift, in my calling with boldness and authority, with a love for my enemies and with self-discipline to control the thoughts in my mind that would say otherwise. Thank you for your hand on my life. Amen.

PRAYING FOR OUR LEADERS

These final verses in Hebrews remind us to remember our leaders, considering who they are and what God has called them to do. The author of Hebrews provides at least five reasons we should remember our leaders: 1. remember them because God has used them to speak God’s word into our lives 2. consider their way of life and how that is working for them that we may imitate their faith 3. to put our confidence in them and submit to their authority 4. they keep watch over us and are accountable to God for this responsibility 5. they, too, need our prayers. Who are your leaders? Who in your life has God used to speak the word of God to you? Whose faith do you want to imitate. Take a moment now to write down the names of the leaders in your life, share this list with a friend and pray for your leaders. 12

Hebrews 13:7; 17-19 “Remember your leaders who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you. Pray for us. We are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorable in every way. I particularly urge you to pray so that I may be restored to you soon.”

Father, thank you for the leaders you have put in my life. Thank you for (call their names) fulfilling their assignment in my life, watching over me and speaking your word into my life. I confess that my life is so much better and fuller as a result! I pray, Lord, that you would remember them as you have asked me to remember them. I pray that you would use me to make their work a joy and not a burden. I pray that their conscience would stay clear before you and they would remain set apart for you doing what’s right in every area of their lives. Bless my leaders, Father, and restore to them all that they have given to me. Amen.

PRAYING FOR SPIRITUAL COMMITMENT

Why do so many of us panic when we find ourselves in difficult situations? I understand that response from some individuals. But for those of us who have confessed the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, I struggle with the “panic button” being the immediate go-to most, if not all, of the time. Instead why don’t we have a little talk with Jesus and tell him about our troubles, he will hear our faintest cry and answer by and by. In other words, stop, take a deep breath and pray. After all, he promised never to leave nor forsake us. He is always with us. Yet, the disciples in our text, like many of us, hit the “panic button.” They had been following Jesus, sat under his teachings, and witnessing miracles he performed; but when the strong winds began to blow and the boat was rocking and rolling the disciples didn’t understand how Jesus could sleep and let them die. After rebuking the winds and waves, Jesus rebuked the disciples questioning their faith. Likewise, we, too, must question when we choose fear over faith and panic over prayer.

In a conversation today, discuss the discipline of prayer. How can you commit to praying for one another? 13

Matthew 8:23-27 (NIV) 23

“Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” 26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. 27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”

Jesus, thank you for being ever-present in our lives. Thank you for the gift of prayer that we might commune with you. Help us to fully comprehend your love and care for us which should give us the blessed assurance that faith must always conquer fear. Amen.

PRAYERS FOR ACCOUNTABILITY

The gospel reveals to us the righteousness of God, and we need righteousness to be acceptable unto God. The word righteousness means to be right not just good enough but right with God. God has given us the Bible to teach us how to live righteously. Our problem is we try to reduce God to our level so that our sin is palatable. But the standard has already been set. It doesn’t matter if we are nice sinners, we are still sinners in need of a Savior. Every day we make numerous decisions that draw us closer to Him or cause us to move further from Him. If we seek God’s peace and blessings for our life, we must obey Him. When faced with a difficult choice or a powerful temptation, turn to God, seek His counsel and follow the response He provides. As our text teaches us, not only does the gospel reveal the standard, it also gives the provision. The righteous person will live by faith. If we are guided by what we know, we will always fall short. But if we live by faith then the gospel of Jesus Christ has already saved us. That’s good news! In a conversation with a friend today, discuss becoming accountability partners. Agree to pray for each other daily.

14

Romans 1:16-18 (CEB)

I’m not ashamed of the gospel: it is God’s own power for salvation to all who have faith in God, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 God’s righteousness is being revealed in the gospel, from faithfulness for faith, as it is written, The righteous person will live by faith. 16

Lord, help me to live according to your Word. Please direct my path far from the distractions and temptations of this world. Allow me to discover Your will for my life and to live according to Your ordained plan. Amen.

PRAYERS FOR PROVISION

There’s an old proverb that says, don’t be so heavenly minded that you are no earthly good. In looking at this proverb, it is another way of saying the more we focus on things above, the less effective we are in the earth. On the contrary, the Bible says as we think on the eternal, we are being renewed day by day. In other words, “…let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16) The world will see “your good deeds of faithfulness and servanthood. They will see your smile. They will hear your courtesy. They will notice that you stop to listen to them. They will see you help them when they are struggling. Our text reminds us that God is a relational being, and He created us to be in relationship with each other. In so doing, we can’t have all faith and no works, because we realize that we are God’s hands in the earth. When our brother or sister is hungry, we feed them. When they are thirsty, we give them something to drink. When they are naked, we provide clothing. When they are homeless, we provide shelter. When they need encouragement and hope, we take the time to pray with them. In order for others to see the visible manifestation of Christ, we must do what he assigns to our hands. God has promised to meet our needs. Ask Him to lead you to someone who has basic needs to be met. In your conversation ask: May I pray for you?

15

James 2:14-16 (NLT) 14

What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? 15 Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, 16 and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”— but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?

Jehovah Jireh, thank you for being our provider. Help us to understand that the blessings on our life are not just for us, but that we may be a blessing to others. Amen.

PRAYING FOR RESTORATION

Fellowship in community should be an integral part of our everyday life. Our association with fellow Christians should be uplifting and encouraging especially if our circle of friends inspires us to pray more and worry less. God demonstrates the value for community in Himself through the Trinity. He also demonstrates this value in the way He created the world. Our text reminds us it is God’s desire for the Church to operate as a body working together in unity. It is called “good and pleasant” (Psalm 133: 1). In this season, we face so much division in the world, and with that division comes pain, anger and a lack of fulfilment. Yet, we are admonished to pray for one another, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. (1 Corinthians 12:25. God knows the things that bring us together are far greater than the things that separate us. When we unite in community to pray seeking God for His vision and provision, we will start to see transformation on a global scale. In conversation with friends today, pray and ask God to show you how you may be a source of unity and healing in a divided world. 16

Ephesians 4:1-3

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 1

Dear God, thank you for using us to your honor and your glory as a source of hope and restoration in a divided world. Attune our ears to hear your voice in the midst of the noise. Amen.

A PRAYER FOR GOD’S PRESENCE

There are so many people around us in need today, not just physical or financial, but emotional and spiritual as well. Have you ever stopped to think that everyone you meet needs encouragement? What is your response? Do you stop and take the time to show them the unconditional, sacrificial, awesome love of Jesus Christ? God’s kingdom is here, and we are the welcoming party for those ready to enter the kingdom of God. Our text is as simple as it is profound, Your kingdom come. It comes when Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. God’s kingdom brings peace, joy, and righteousness. God’s kingdom in our life impacts those around us. It’s awe-inspiring to people who don’t know Him and hope for people who do. Like a widow preparing one last meal for herself and her son. The promise of the Holy Spirit reminds us that we can touch others with the supremacy of God’s kingdom, showing them the entrance. Plan a call with friends and co-workers and discuss God’s presence in the earth in spite of the chaos. At the beginning of the call, pray God’s will be done.

17

Matthew 6:9-10 9 “This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Sovereign Lord, help me to be mindful of your presence in the earth. Teach me to walk by faith daily and encourage others to do the same as I keep my eyes on Jesus. Amen.

PRAYERS ALONG THE JOURNEY

I remember in school I took a computer science class. It was then that I really began to understand “if/then statements.” My computer science class was full of these statements. The results of the statements would be a machine or items moving, which was always really great to watch. However, if you entered in a code or a symbol incorrectly then nothing would move and you knew that there was a mistake. If you did something right the result would be some kind of movement, however if you didn’t there would be nothing. This Scripture reminds me of the lessons learned in those classes. God is explaining here that if we don’t do something then God will do several things. We cannot produce God’s desired results if we do not move and take the right action. Similar to the computer science class the machines were designed to move and produce results but only if the correct action was taken. I believe it is God’s will and desire to move from heaven, to forgive our sins and to heal our land. However, “if” this is going to happen “then” as God’s people we must humble ourselves, pray to God and seek the Lord’s face. Lastly, we must turn or shift or pivot from the wrong direction to the correct direction which is toward Christ. Are you moving toward Christ in the correct way during this season?

18

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV) if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 14

Lord, thank you for wanting to provide for my needs and direct my paths. Jesus help me to make the shifts and changes that I need to make in my life in order for you to move in ways that I can’t imagine. Jesus thank you for covering and keeping me in this season and showing me how you want to produce great things in my life. It’s in Your Name that I pray, Amen.

PRAYERS FOR TRUSTING GOD

Have you ever thought about what forever means? Like how long is forever or something being endless? I remember when we used to go outside on weekends to eat out, before COVID-19 and our financial fast as a Church. My family and I often went to this restaurant that had a special on French fries, they were bottomless. Yes endless fries; for each meal. As long as you were in the restaurant, you could order as many fries as you wanted and the server would bring them to your table. Now I know this wasn’t really endless and that at some point the fries would run out if I continued to order them over and over again. However, the thought of forever and ever in this Scripture brings to my mind this experience. God is really endless and God really reigns for forever in our lives. God, unlike the restaurant, doesn’t need to acquire the ingredients and space to do what needs to be done. Instead God is the source and the endless supply. For us as Christians that is good news because it lets us know that no matter the time of day, the time of year or our stage in life, God can supply forever. During this season of prayer we need to be sure and confident in Christ that our God will truly reign forever and in every area of our lives. How can you trust God to reign in your life today? What actions or steps can you take toward God trusting that God will be taking steps toward you?

19

Revelation 11:15 (NIV) The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign forever and ever.”

Lord as Your Kingdom reigns forever in my life today allow me to trust in Your power. Allow me to trust Your way even when it doesn’t make sense to me. I know that Your Kingdom will reign. Reign in my life Lord and reign in the life of those around me, in Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.

PRAYERS FOR AUTHORITY

In many places around the world when someone of authority comes into the room, the room reacts. For some it is to salute, for others it is to wave and others bow. Whatever the reaction is in response to the office that this person holds, it is because of their office and the importance of that office. In some parts of the world to not react isn’t just something that you shouldn’t do but there can also be some level of penalty. This is because the office is so important that everyone should acknowledge it and if you allow someone not to respect it there has to be a result. In our Scripture God is being clear about what is important but also Who is important. Those rooms that are full of important people cannot compare to the presence of our Lord. At the end of the day when it comes to our God, everyone will know, everyone will confess, and everyone will bow or acknowledge the greatness of our God. If everyone will do that before the end of the age, the question is are we going to do that now? Will we acknowledge God for God’s greatness in our life and all that God has provided us with? Every knee will acknowledge God before the end of the age. How are you working on acknowledging God now even during this season?

20

Romans 14:11 (NIV) It is written: “’As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.”

Jesus thank You for Your power and Your authority. Lord today help me to acknowledge You in all ways and through all of Your wonderful acts. God today I pray for Your covering and guidance as I live to acknowledge You in every area of my life, in Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.

PRAYERS FOR OBEDIENCE

In this day and age it seems like everyone has orders to give, everyone is an expert and everyone expects people to listen to what they say. Don’t get me wrong - we do need to obey the authority that God has allowed to be placed over our lives. However, we also need to be mindful that God is the ultimate authority. Peter and the apostles were clear that they wouldn’t obey or serve anyone but God. No matter what people said, no matter what was supposed to happen, God would be their focus. Can we make the same statement as it relates to our focus and our lives? Or are we more focused on what people say and what people will think about us and how we live? The focus of this Scripture is to make clear that no matter who is charge of us or who is in authority over us that God is our focus. God is the beginning and the end. God is the one that we should and will obey. How have you made it clear to those that you love and those whom are close to you that God is the one that you will obey at all times?

21

Acts 5:29 (NIV) Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings!

Jesus, thank you for providing me with structure and authority in life. God help me to stand up for You and to allow everyone to know that I obey and serve you only. Jesus protect me as I walk toward Your will and toward Your way, in Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.

PRAYERS OF HUMILITY

This is one of my favorite Scriptures as it is one of the Scriptures that list a requirement of us. God is requiring that we act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God. As Christians we are examples of Christ and as examples we should want to be good examples, that others can follow. As they follow us we will need to show them how to act in ways that are just and right regardless to how they impact our lives. Not only do we have to act in a just or righteous way, but we must also love mercy and walking with God in a humble way. As we walk with God humbly, we acknowledge that our lives aren’t the best and we aren’t perfect; but our God who sees all and forgives us for our sins, loves to show us mercy. As a result of us being shown mercy it should humble us and allow us to see God and life in different ways. Are you practicing the requirements of God? When was the last time you humbled yourself before God for God’s love, God’s kindness and God’s mercy in our lives?

22

Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Lord, thank you for being God, THANK YOU FOR SHOWING ME MERCY FOR ALL my sins, for all of my mistakes and all of my faults. God you have provided great ways in my life and I trust and believe that you will continue to cover me throughout my life. It’s in the Name of Your Son, Jesus the Christ that I pray, Amen.

PRAYERS FOR ANGER

Have you ever been so angry about how someone treated you, or what they said to you? Or perhaps someone rubbed you the wrong way and it ticked you off, and you said to yourself, “if another person says one more word to me I’m gonna let them have it, or “I’m gonna give them a piece of my mind.” But then as some time goes by and you are able to let off some steam, the magnitude of your anger goes down. And then you realize you let them get under your skin and it wasn’t even worth it. Because they have gone on about their business and are not even thinking about you, you feel convicted, you are able to see that it wasn’t even their fault. You see, anger has so many emotions and feelings attached to it. If we let it build up or stay bottled inside, when it finally comes out we’re like a pot that boils over and spills out all over the place. If we are not careful we can even let out our anger on the wrong person. And all we have to say for ourselves is that “well, they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.” When conviction sets in, we realize we could have handled it another way. We could have perhaps even counted to ten and our thoughts would have been filled with less attitude and more compassion. You see, God doesn’t tell us that we shouldn’t feel angry, but instead we should handle our anger properly. God even says, do not let the sun go down on our anger. This means that even God knew that time has its place. Time has value as it allows us to think, and to process what we have said, or what we have done. Often after time goes by we realize there was surely another way we could have handled the situation. Sometimes, if the truth be told, we even forget why we were so angry in the first place. Or it really doesn’t matter in the big scheme of things. Do not let your anger get the best of you. But let the best of you come out of you and anger will take its proper place. Do not give the devil an inch for he will take a mile. And we ain’t got time for that! Write down how many different ways you can respond to anger, without being angry yet getting your point across.

23

Ephesians 4:26 (NKJV) Be ye angry, and sin not: do not let the sun go down upon your wrath: nor give place to the devil.

Lord we thank you for giving us a ray of emotions, which includes anger. For this is what makes us unique and special. Teach us that what we do with our anger is the most important and taking “time out” is key. And when we do that, our anger will take its proper place or it may have no place at all. Amen.

PRAYERS AGAINST OPPOSITION

In these days and times we don’t know what we will find when we walk out into “these streets.” There are things lurking in the darkness or behind the scenes that creep up on us when we least expect it. And talk about a wolf in sheep’s clothing- we certainly did not expect a pandemic like COVID-19 which has taken so many out of this world who are now gone too soon. Along with this disease, there are other wolves that have creeped up on us like financial distress, joblessness, homelessness, and even opposition in areas where we least expected. It is in our marriages and relationships where one day we’re on hallelujah boulevard and the next day we are hardly speaking to one another. Or for those who had a job, now they are getting a pink slip or many are being treated like their lives don’t matter at all simply because of the color of their skin. But God says when we face this kind of opposition, the unexpected that comes like a thief in the night or like a ravaging wolf ready to devour us, there is a way to combat it. We are not to face it not like a “gullible pawn” or like a raging bull. But we are to have balance. In other words, we are to meet opposition with the wisdom and vulnerability all at the same time. We are to be as sharp as a tack and as soft as an angel. This way we accomplish what God has called us to do, and we get the job done God’s way.

When you face opposition today practice your balancing act. Try to respond in two different ways by being sharp and kind. 24

Matthew 10:16 (NKJV) Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

Lord we thank you that you are omnipotent and omnipresent. You know and see all that is around us. Help us to trust in you and know that you are our protection every step of the way. Amen.

A PRAYER OF VICTORY

I remember when I was younger there was a game we used to play called “Double Dutch.” Now, I already knew how to jump using one rope. It was so easy that you could either jump by yourself, with both hands holding either side of a single rope, or you could have two people holding either end of the rope and when they turned it up in the air over and over again, you could jump up and down inside of it. But when there were two people turning two ropes up in the air, and you had to stand in the middle and jump, or you could stand on the outside and jump in, not only was this unheard of but for me it was impossible. I could now see and understand how one could jump inside a space while two ropes circled up and down around you. It was just impossible. Well, this is often how we see things or react to things when they are outside of our comfort zone. When we look at difficult things, from face value they often seem impossible. And this is also usually when fear sets in and we feel we cannot do it. But Jesus reminds us that he did the unthinkable, the unbelievable and the impossible, which was His death on the cross. Jesus conquered death by rising from the dead. This showed his unconquerable love for us. And as a result of his love, we are more than conquerors. When we face hardships, persecutions, illness and more, in all these things, we are more than conquerors for nothing can separate us from the love which is in Christ Jesus. Try something today you thought you couldn’t do or have been putting off because of fear and watch God work on the inside of you. Then tell somebody today they are more than a conqueror. If God did it for you, He will do it for them.

25

Romans 8:37 (NIV) No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

Lord we pray, help us to be secure in your love. Help us to know that if we believe in you, there is nothing we cannot do. Thank you Lord, for there is no greater love than the love you have for us. Amen.

PRAYING TO SEEK GOD

Many times we say we want to be first because there is usually a benefit attached to it. I remember as an elementary school teacher, children would often raise their hands high because they wanted to be first. Being first often meant you would be the first in line to get a treat or prize. It meant you would not miss out just in case they ran out of whatever it was by the time they got to you. Well when it comes to God’s love, there is truly a treat that is everlasting. It is something we must seek after daily for it is not easy, with all the distractions in life, all the things that can get in our way of pleasing God. In other words, it is a daily task that we must all seek. We must raise our hands with our whole heart, mind and soul. We must seek, search, try to find, look for and pursue each and every day the things of God in the way we treat our neighbors/ friends. We seek God when we strive to act Christ-like in our character, and in our service to God. When we try to do the right thing and when we put God first in our lives. When we turn the other cheek, we are doing the right thing. But since we live in a world full of trials, tribulations, and the good, bad and the ugly, there are all sorts of things that are vying for our attention. If we are not careful, we can get swept away by what is really not important or in our best interest. In the end it can keep us away from what God has called us to be. Even when it is hard to do, there is a blessing in the pressing.

Seek God’s attention. Treat someone today in a Christ-like manner that will show you have God on the inside of you. Ask them how did you make them feel.

26

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) But seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.

Dear Lord, help us to always be intentional as we give you first place in our lives. For in doing so we will reap the benefits on the other end. Help us to seek after you in all that we say and do. Amen.

PRAYING FOR OUR ACTIONS

Many may recall a time when wearing a “What Would Jesus Do” bracelet was very popular. These bracelets were in all the specialty shops around town and they came in all sorts of vibrant colors. Some even glowed in the dark. You see, they represented a mindset, a mantra and set a standard of living for the person wearing it. And while we do not see them much anymore, the question becomes how many of us can still live by the name of the One who has set the standard in the first place; and without needing a bracelet at all. But instead, the Bible says, Psalm 119:11, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” Sin has a way of condemning and tearing us down and goes against all the God requires of us. And unfortunately when we look at our nation today, we have moved so far away from the righteousness of God that it has become hard for us to find our way back. Not even a bracelet can move the needle. But there is still hope. God’s word has the power to lift us up and to change right from wrong. The Book of Proverbs is filled with wise sayings and words of wisdom about how to live godly lives. Here God is saying doing the right thing can honor, lift up and change not only a nation but every day, ordinary people like you and me. Monitor your actions today not just by the words you say out of your mouth, but by the word of God that’s in your heart, and the actions that represent right from wrong.

27

Proverbs 14:34 (NKJV) Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.

Lord, Help us to become the righteousness of God. Teach us how to walk upright and live by the moral standards that God has set before us. Amen.

A PRAYER TO SERVE

We are currently living in a time where there are so many people in need. Even before the international pandemic, so many of our brothers and sisters around the world have been struggling for access to their basic human necessities and rights. And yet, so often we can become consumed with the struggles in our own lives, that we forget the needs of others. When we are solely focused on what we don’t have, what we haven’t achieved, and what we want to attain, it is easy to lose sight of the many things we should be grateful for. In addition, this view prevents us from truly being present with the brothers and sisters around us that are in need of our assistance. In the selected Scripture, Jesus reminds us that it is our responsibility to care and provide for those in need. He declares, “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Through his words, Jesus puts himself on the same level as the poor, defenseless, and “least of these.” Even though they may not carry the same status, prestige, or influence as the King, Jesus reminds us that each person is valuable and deserving of our attention. We should freely extend the same kindness, mercy, and grace that we would extend to Jesus Christ himself. Now more than ever, our world is desperately crying out for individuals to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, and care for the sick. In addition, we continue to experience the injustices of racism, sexism, and bigotry that plague this world. Many of us don’t need to look further than our own cities, communities, or churches to find a place to serve others. What we do for others is a reflection of what we do for God.

How can you lend a helping hand to others? Identify a place or person that you can consistently serve and ask what they need.

28

Matthew 25:37-40 (NIV)

Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ 40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.

Lord, thank you for always providing for me and meeting my needs. I pray that you grant me the heart and the capacity to serve others. Help me to show kindness, mercy, and grace to everyone I meet, no matter their status, prestige, or amount of influence. Show me where you have called me to serve on a consistent basis and help me to make a difference in this world. Amen.

A PRAYER TO USE OUR GIFTS

During this time of political and social unrest, many of us have found ourselves having to take a stand for what is right. As the list of racial injustices accumulates, it is hard to ignore the failures and shortcomings of our democratic system. In addition, the current political landscape of this country does not seem to support the various needs of marginalized communities. As many of us have witnessed or experienced in our own lives, sometimes doing the right thing means speaking out against people that are in positions of power. In our Scripture for today, we find Esther in a similar situation. At this point in the Scripture, Esther has attained a level of power and influence as the Queen. While she was still a member of the royal court, King Ahasuerus promoted an official that soon decided to destroy all of the Jews in the land. Although Esther was a Jew, she was able to conceal her identity from the people. However, her adoptive father, Mordecai knew her heritage and asked her to speak to the king on behalf of their people. Esther knew that if she went to the king without being summoned she would be put to death, so she was hesitant to speak out. Mordecai had to remind her that just because she was in the king’s house, doesn’t mean she would be safe. In addition, perhaps she was chosen as Queen for this exact moment when her people would need her the most. With this in mind, Esther decided to speak out on behalf of her people, even if it meant she would be put in harm’s way. She used her position of authority and her relationship to the king to advocate for others that were being persecuted. Esther’s story teaches us that we are all called for a purpose. Each of our individual gifts and talents are necessary in the Kingdom and God has called us to use our abilities “for such a time as this” to advocate for those around us. What has God gifted you with that you can contribute to the Body of Christ? If you are unsure, perhaps consider taking a spiritual gifts assessment online and discussing it with a leader at church.

29

Esther 4:12-15 (NIV)

When Esther’s words were reported to Mordecai, 13 he sent back this answer: “Do not think that because you are in the king’s house you alone of all the Jews will escape. 14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.

God, thank you for the gifts you have given me. I am grateful that you are calling me “for such a time as this” to contribute to the liberation of your people. Help me to honor you by speaking out for others. Amen.

A PRAYER FOR YOUR CIRCLE

I am sure many of you have heard the saying, “Birds of a feather flock together.” This old adage is most often said to young school-aged children, reminding them of the importance of choosing their friends wisely. However, as many of us know, this phrase can be very important for us later in life as well. Psychologists have all recognized the strong influence our friends, family, and peers can have on our growth, development, and wellbeing. In fact, the people we surround ourselves with can often impact the trajectory of our lives. For better or worse, our environment has the ability to influence who we are and who we become. That is why our circle, or the people we surround ourselves with is so important. In this Scripture for today we find Moses returning from the mountaintop after spending quite some time in the presence of God. When he comes down from the mountain, he realizes that many of the people he was leading and traveling with have grown weary and become “unrestrained.” One translation says, that “the people were running wild.” After spending all of that time with God and receiving God’s direction, Moses knew that he needed to protect the vision and the purpose God had given him. Instead of simply returning to the group that was running recklessly through the wilderness, Moses declared, “Whoever is on the Lord’s side—come to me!” He recognized the importance of setting himself apart from those that were not living the way God called them to be living. The people Moses ended up surrounding himself with were people who “ordained themselves for the service of the Lord.” By keeping people around us that are also serving God, we are able to look to our community for encouragement and support, instead of stress and temptation.

Have a conversation with someone in your circle today about serving God. How can you hold each other accountable to seek God? 30

Exodus 32:25-26 (NKJV)

Now when Moses saw that the people were unrestrained (for Aaron had not restrained them, to their shame among their enemies), 26 then Moses stood in the entrance of the camp, and said, “Whoever is on the Lord’s side— come to me!” And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together to him.

Lord, I know how important it is to have a good circle. Help me to discern the people that I should surround myself with. Give me knowledge and wisdom to know when someone is not healthy for me, and when it is time to let someone go. Help me to find a community of believers that also love and honor you. Amen.

PRAYING FOR OTHERS

Our focus on prayer as a church in this season is not simply because we like to pray, but it is also because as this Scripture says, “the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective!” Prayer is foundational to our lives as believers. When we pray, we are communicating to God that we are not the experts. Instead, we need God’s power, authority, and wisdom to guide us along our journey. If we had all of the answers, we would not need to pray! However, when we humbly seek God in prayer, we are acknowledging God’s sovereignty in our lives. As the Scripture mentions, prayer is the answer to our many troubles and ailments. Even when we feel powerless, our power comes when we pray to our powerful God. There is nothing too difficult or too complicated that prayer can’t cover. If we are sick, in trouble, or in need of forgiveness, prayer should always be our first response. In addition, we are called to pray in community. This Scripture reminds us that we are not alone, and that we should “pray for each other so that we may be healed.” God has blessed us with a community of believers that is willing and able to pray for one another when we need it. We can take comfort in knowing that our spiritual family is always accessible for us to bring our prayer requests and they will intercede on our behalf. Have a conversation today with someone about prayer. In your conversation for today, make sure to ask: How can I pray for you?

31

James 5:13-16 (NIV)

13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Lord, thank you for my community of believers. I am grateful that I can pray to you, and that there are also people around me that can intercede on my behalf. I would like to pray today for (prayers for someone else). Amen.

PRAYING FOR UNITY

In a world filled with division, it is easy to focus on our differences. While our differences are beautiful, necessary, and important, they should not determine how we are treated. We are all deserving of love, respect and basic human decency. Far too often, people use differences to justify mistreating one another. However, God’s Word declares that each of us were made in the “image and likeness of God.” In addition, our differences do not include or exclude us from being God’s children. Each and every one of us are valuable and special in God’s eyes. There are no heroes, “super-saints,” or VIPs when it comes to how God loves us. As the Scripture says, we are all “one in Christ Jesus,” and we are all heirs to God’s Kingdom. This is an important reminder to each of us that God calls us to unity. Instead of being defined by the limitations of our differences, God sees us as a unified body of believers that works for the Kingdom. How can we use our differences to work together in Christ? Also, how can we see each other as equals instead of believing in a spiritual hierarchy that places some people above others? God loves each of us and calls us to love each other in that same way. God, thank you for making us in your image. Teach us to be more like you in every way. Help us to love one another the way you love us. Show us how to be kind and thoughtful to everyone and honor our differences. Help us to find peace even when we may disagree. We pray for unity, now more than ever. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

32

Galatians 3:28 (NIV)

There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Amen.

PRAYERS FOR THE LAND

For many of us, the past few months have reminded us that we are not in control. We may have had ideas or plans about what we were going to do or where we were going to go this year, but many of those plans did not become a reality. When faced with the disappointment of these unexpected changes, it is easy to lose sight of the bigger picture. However, even though things may not have gone the way we planned, we know that we can always trust in God’s plan! Trusting in God’s plan means that we completely surrender the need to control every situation and outcome. We can find comfort in knowing that God is in control, no matter how challenging the situation may be. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” With that knowledge, we do not have to needlessly worry. Instead, we can give praise and glory to our God that has all power and authority. That is exactly the way David begins this Psalm. In verse 1 he says, “The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.” David is immediately acknowledging the fact that everything belongs to God, and so he gives honor and respect to God’s authority. However, I believe David doesn’t do this just as a sign of respect to God. Perhaps by starting with the acknowledgement that God created the world and everything in it, David is reminding himself of God’s magnitude. God is bigger than his situation, circumstance or difficulty. God is bigger than his mistakes, shortcoming, or sin. There is nothing he can bring to God that is out of God’s realm of authority. This is also an important reminder to us, that God is bigger than all of the things we are currently going through. We can bring everything to the Lord in prayer.

What have you learned during this 31-day journey? Have you learned to release control? Talk to someone about what you may have gained or experienced during this time.

33

Psalm 24:1-2 (NKJV)

1 The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein. 2 For He has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the waters.

Thank you, Lord for these past 31 days. I am so grateful for this journey, and I pray that I am able to continue to deepen my relationship with you through prayer. I pray now for your land. I know there is nothing too large or too hard for you to handle. There is so much suffering, turmoil and strife. Please heal and deliver this land so that we may see your glory in the land of the living. In Jesus Name, Amen.
