I am excited about this publication and all God is doing in our magazine. It’s important to write down your goals and chart your progress. What are you expecting in the year of Jubilee? I believe God meets us at our expectation. Challenge God with your expectation. Make sure your desire lines up with His will and has the ability to bless others and I believe God will release it. Choose a scripture and confess it over your goals every day. Keep God as the center of your focus and all will be well. One of our goals is to provide excellent articles to our readers. Phorfina Wade

In just two months, the 2016 summer Olympics will convene. There is no doubt that the participants have all prepared themselves to compete against other athletes from around the globe. The athletes have been training for years, months, and weeks just to have an opportunity to win the gold medal. Hundreds will compete, but only the best athletes will have the gold medal placed around their necks. Much like Olympic athletes, Christians have a race to run. 1 Corinthians 9:2427 states that, Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we

for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. In this text, Paul has given a clear comparison of a physical race and the spiritual race for the believer. Paul admonishes us to run with the intent to win, which means that we must have an expectation. Our goal is to see Jesus and in order to see the Savior there are some things that we must do as Christians. We must be committed to bringing our flesh under subjection tothe will of the Holy Spirit.

From the desk of the chief I believe that by improving parenting skills, we can greatly reduce the number of negative encounters involving law enforcement and the youth in our community! One of the most important things a parent can do, is teach their child to respect authority at home. Teach them to respect their “Parent” at home, their “Teachers” at school, how about teaching them to respect adults period. If they feel they have www.myshieldandbuckler.com

been mistreated at home or at school, there’s a procedure/process that you should teach them on how to respectfully voice their concerns. Rewarding bad behavior is one of the most damaging things a parent can do, in reference to raising their children; but that’s a topic for another conversation! Chief Antonio Stitt

CRITICAL EXAMINATION Understanding God’s Word is foundational Instructions, obedience, then the blessing! James 4:7

James Introduction

The book of James is written to the twelve scattered tribes. Commentaries suggest James the brother of Jesus is the author but the text does not clearly state this. (James 1:1)

Original audience

James wrote to Jewish believers before the church became more predominantly Gentile and before the Pauline writings overshadowed James letter in church usage. (Biblegateway.com)

Context

James wrote to believers who were dealing with major trouble. Christianity was not readily accepted by society. Act 8:1 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles. James, inspired by the Holy Spirit, wrote to encourage believers to be strong in the face of danger. He gave life principles to help believers concerning wisdom, faith, patience and endurance. In the midst of such a dangerous society God gives life principles to His people. Jas 4:1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in

your members? Amidst the external fight the church experienced internal frustrations and James had to let them know the battle is with forces not people. Submission to God and a constant resistance of the enemy would be vital to their sanctification.

How does this text apply to us today?

James’ writings are very applicable today. There are many forces that try the believer but we must remember that the enemy is not flesh and blood. Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. We can’t forget the details. We have to listen and understand the war we are in. Obedience is futile because the blessing is tied to it. Submission takes on passivity but resist takes an aggressive approach. When the enemy is trying you, look in the Word to come against Him. The Word is the weapon we are authorized to use. After we have this perspective then the blessing can come.

Evangelist Sharina George {simply submitted}

God’s will for your life. The temptation to take things into your own hands is very real. You’ve got to resist and submit everything to God.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore This is the part of the believer. You’ve got to do this yourself by keeping a continual does of the Word in you. This flesh has a will but you’ve got to control it by the Spirit of your renewed mind.

G436 anthistēmi to stand against or oppose Our strategy is to use the word of God against the enemy. Jesus gave us that pattern in Luke 4 when He said, “It is written.” Written speaks of established. You’ve got to use what is already established against that old serpent. The believer will reap the benefit of obeying God’s word. This does not mean the enemy will not bring something else or try the same thing. When he comes against you, use the most effective weapon which is the Word of God. Resources

HANG ON IN THERE MINISTRIES

God found me when I wasn’t thinking about Him. I had a mother that made me go to church. I learned so much from her. I got up in age and started smelling myself and I begin to do drugs and run the streets. I finally got caught and I remember what momma said about getting in trouble, “Call on the Lord.” I called on the Lord but I still had to do my time. I kept waiting on my midnight hour that is talked about in the Bible. It didn’t come for a long time. I was mad at God for a moment but God knew me better than I knew myself. While I was in prison those six years, I begin to walk the yard and talk to God. When I was released, I said within myself, “I’m never going back in there again. Not even to visit.” I remember getting a job and ministering to several different people after I was released. I didn’t know I would be a Pastor. I was happy with what I was doing. God was tugging on my heart and I finally said, “Yes!” God ended up sending me back to the prison to minister, the very place I wanted to avoid. God did the change in me. My joy is seeing lives changed! LISTEN TO THE INTERVIEW AT WWW.KDCMAG.COM

he Global Outreach of Mercy Center Global Ministries seeks to address the spiritual and economic needs of underserved people throughout the world. Our mission to the Continent of Africa includes accessing and rebuilding unstable regions while promoting business, networking and entrepreneurship. Our global effort to go into West Africa and other countries is a large part of our ministry. The mission for Global Outreach is to rebuild communities as well as rebuild the lives of the people who live in them. Teaching business principles and developing commerce opportunities, while fostering economic sustainability, can rebuild devastated communities. In our Global Outreach to Liberia, we demonstrate the Gospel through miracles, signs and wonders. While preaching and teaching in Monrovia at the Son Rise Ministries International

Pastors and Leadership Conference hosted by Apostle Augustine Teah, we witnessed countless physical healings, spiritual deliverance and Salvation. “What a life changing experience it was to travel from Cleveland Heights, Ohio to the land of our heritage, Africa! Even with all the extensive study, planning, and preparation regarding the Continent’s culture, customs, and norms, I was shocked when I arrived in Ethiopia and was taken aback even more so when I landed on the soil of Zimbabwe. Culture shock! I felt disoriented and unprepared. After meeting our wonderful host family, and arriving at my temporary abode, still there was no relief. Then I closed my eyes and uttered, ‘Lord, put Your Word in my mouth.’ And, day after day; service after service, I began to witness the hand of the Lord upon me as never before, using me in the deliverance and healing of many souls. I knew then I was to be there. And then the children came--it seemed like thousands--just wanting to be

BODYTRACE.FIT

Why is physical Why is physical fitness important? Simply stated - Fitness is one of the key factors for our bodies to properly function. Our organs, muscles, nervous system, etc. all need to be activated in some way to properly function. When we don’t engage or activate our whole body, it can start to break down. Here’s another point. If we are to live a healthy, disease-free, and lengthy life, we have to reprogram our minds from having a sedentary mindset that leads to a sedentary lifestyle. It’s so easy for us to become accustomed to being still, sitting, or lying down. Inactivity makes us powerless, which implies lethargy or sluggishness, especially of mind and spirit. Re-fer to I Corinthians 6:19 for scriptural support: Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you…? Being able to move your body is a gift from God and many of us take this for granted! It’s unfortunate that many of us have a lack of knowledge about nutrition and harmful foods that we eat. Add this to an inactive lifestyle and we’ll end up having a first name relationship with the doctor’s recep-tionist! It starts with changing our mental focus, which shouldn’t be done in negativity or as a last minute option. Check out Romans 12:2 for scriptural support. When we shift our mental focus, we should begin to want to engage in a healthy lifestyle more than ever.

fitness important? It doesn’t take much to become physically fit. Challenge yourself by starting today. Remember that a little goes a long way! • • • • • • • • •

Do a fun or interesting activity that involves movement. Prepare your meals in advance. Grab a friend and invite them to take this step with you. Set a goal to be active five days a week for a minimum 20 mins per day. Stop eating fast food. Walk your dog. Climb stairs instead of ride elevators. Commit to drink more water. Squat while you watch television.

It is all mental so change your thought process. I don't expect you to take fitness to what feels like an unachievable level. I'd like you to consider how to take it to the level that you are comfortable with. I'd like you to experience happiness and other benefits that I have. Join me and instill a passion for fitness into your lifestyle so that you can be rewarded with well-being, which is ultimately freedom. Let's all Make It A LyfeStyle!

Prophetic Encounter

Spring On Sunday March 20th we ushered in a new season, SPRING. As we entered into April, the weather here in Cleveland was all over the place. In one week we literally experienced all four seasons. Then on April 8th more than 3 inches of snow fell in what was called Spring Snow. We were in the middle of Spring covered in snow. However, the heavy snowfall didn’t negate the fact that Spring is here and we are in a new season.

Prophetess Kimberly Fleming

At the beginning of this year the Lord spoke to me saying 2016 was going to be a real Sweet Sixteen for the body of Christ. After He gave me that Word to share, all hell broke loose. Many people I knew were attacked with severe marital problems, financial hardship, illnesses, and death of friends and loved ones. I too experienced challenges that were at times so unbelievable, that it knocked the wind out of me. But that didn’t negate the Word of the Lord that this year will truly be Sweet 2 Corinthians 1:20 NKJV says, “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” “The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy” John 10:10. The job of the devil is to distract you. To steal the promises of God from you, to get you flustered, frustrated, and upset, to make you want to give up or say “just forget it, God isn’t gonna do what He said.” As I looked out my window at the snow that covered the trees, a bird was there perched on a branch singing loudly as if it was oblivious to the cold and snow. Immediately the Spirit of the Lord spoke to me saying that’s how He wants us, His children to be in the spirit. No matter how bad it looks, how deep the pain, begin to sing the song of the Lord. Make your enemy, the devil, see you still have a song, you still have a praise. God has given you a song, and like that bird, sing it loud you’re in a new season! Spring has sprung forth!!! The Link Between

the

Father

and a Successful

Relationship

Let’s Talk

{ }

Your relationship with your child may be strained because you felt dishonored by their other parent and as a result, you keep that parent from having a relationship with their children. Now your child The success of has lost the feeling that any relationship their mother or father between Christians is based honor them because on realation- they feel abandoned ships with their and alone. Generally, Father. it’s the father that’s kept from their children. Daughters now look to replace their fathers, good or bad. Sons try not to emulate their fathers, and some turn out “just like your father” according to their mothers. Both are seeking honor in their relationships. Both need to discover that their honor comes from their Father God. When Christians form relationships

with people the success of the relationship will be determined based on belief or unbelief. 2 Corinthians 6:14 says “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers; for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness?” So what does that mean? It means that when Christians form relationships with others who don’t believe in Jesus Christ, it makes it difficult for them to “honor” each other. How can the Christian honor someone who doesn’t believe what they believe? Are they strong enough to be a witness to the unbeliever and still be their friend? What happens when the unbeliever tells them to stop witnessing to them about a God they don’t want to know as their Father. Read the full length article at www.kdcmag.com

Five Healthful Habits

to Eliminate Belly Bloat

Flatter Tummies Produce Smiles

B

elly bloat is the absolute worst! I hear this from my clients all of the time. When you feel bloated in your belly, it creates the most negative side effects of YOU! Am I right? Typically, you have less energy, less excitement, less tolerance for everyone and everything and, not to mention, but I will, less attraction to your mate. There are foods that are irritating to certain individuals and compromise digestion. These foods are seen by the body

as antigens and the body responds by activating its immune system, creating irritation and inflammation in the gut. These foods typically don’t digest, assimilate or absorb well, which results in bacterial toxins and yes, bloat. There are ways to pinpoint food sensitivities, either through testing or elimination. Stress is another factor of abdominal bloat, especially during meal times. I suggest to my clients to practice deep breathing before meal times and/or to partake in a yoga or exercise class prior to their biggest meal. When the body can let go of stress, digestion, assimilation and absorption of the meal is optimal, resulting in less overeating and less bloat and discomfort. I teach mindful eating to my clients and its quite amazing that something so simple can produce dramatic results.
