Arts Programme

Welcome to our Summer Arts Programme I am delighted to introduce the Summer 2018 Arts Programme which contains, as always, a rich blend of events. In music major highlights include the School Concert on Tuesday 8th May and the Open Mic Night on Friday 29th June. The final Keys Concert of the year, on Tuesday 3rd July, is always a moving occasion and provides the opportunity to say goodbye to this year’s departing Upper Sixth musicians. Another highlight of the second half of term is the succession of displays in the Art School, with excellent GCSE and Pre-U work on display. I hope that you may be able to visit these exhibitions, either for the private views or on King’s Day. The theatre too will be busy, with performances of Private Peaceful by the Removes’ Drama Club in early May and The Railway Children by the Fourth Forms after half term. The Senior Dance Showcase, which takes place on Tuesday 24th April, is also an occasion well worth marking in the diary. The pupils of King’s Hawford will be following up on their successes in the recent Worcester Festival with performances in the Cheltenham Festival on Tuesday 8th May, and the comedy musical Pirates of the Curry Bean provides an intriguingly titled senior production after half term. At King’s St Alban’s too there is much to enjoy: the Chamber Choir will be singing Evensong at Coventry Cathedral on Friday 27th April, and the artwork from the recent, excellent Creative Connexions will be on display until Friday 25th May. There is also a range of concerts, as well as the summer show in the theatre on Thursday 26th June. I trust that you will find something which appeals in this very varied programme, and look forward to seeing you at one or more of these events over the course of the summer.
