3RD FORM SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS
FOR 2020 ENTRY
SPORTS SCHOLARSHIPS Candidates should have reached county representative level or above in at least one sport and, ideally, offer ‘A’ Team level sport in all three terms. They will be asked to show their ability/potential on the assessment day. Each candidate should submit a CV of their sporting achievements over the last three years. They will be interviewed by the Headmaster and the Head of Sport Co-ordination. Reports will be required from county/representative coaches and from their present school. ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS Scholarship Papers will be set in English, Mathematics, French, History, Geography and Science. There will also be a Verbal Reasoning Test. Candidates may also offer optional papers in Latin and RS. All candidates will be interviewed by the Headmaster. MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS In addition to any financial award, successful music scholars will receive free tuition on two instruments. Candidates should offer two instruments (which may include voice) and are expected to be the equivalent of Grade 5/6 standard or above on their first instrument. Candidates will be required to play two contrasting pieces on their first instrument and one piece on their second. They will be tested on scales, arpeggios, sight reading and aural skills. Candidates will be interviewed by the Headmaster and the Director of Music. Closing date for entry: Date of audition:

Music Exhibitions Assistance towards the cost of instrumental lessons may be awarded to candidates who have not yet reached the standard for a full scholarship but who show real musical potential. The assessment for Exhibitions is the same as for Scholarships.
ART SCHOLARSHIPS Candidates will be asked to undertake a practical test, and they will also be interviewed by members of the Art Department and the Headmaster. Candidates will need to produce a portfolio of work completed over the past year. Closing date for entry: Date of Assessment:

DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIPS Candidates will be asked to undertake a practical test, and they will also be interviewed by the Head of Design and Technology and the Headmaster. DRAMA SCHOLARSHIPS All candidates are required to show a strong and proven interest in theatre and performance. Candidates will be expected to audition by selecting two minute monologues of their own choosing, and to partake in a practical workshop with other pupils where creativity, collaboration and problem solving will be assessed. ALL ROUNDER AWARDS Candidates are expected to show talent in two areas outside the classroom. If sport is offered, ‘A’ Team experience is expected. If music is offered, candidates should be of Grade 5 standard in one or more instruments (which may include voice). Candidates will be interviewed by the Headmaster.
