HOUSES
OLD
@KSBOldHouse Old House is in the heart of the School, with an amazing heritage. We are close to The Queen Elizabeth Music School, the dining hall and the pupils’ social clubs. I have been Housemaster in Old House for 10 years and I am immensely proud of the House and the boys that pass though it. I teach Biology, coach Rugby, and am involved in the CCF and the Choir. In the Easter Term, I also take charge of the Cross Country teams and thoroughly enjoy taking the pupils to away matches, where we all get to run some spectacular courses. The House is home to around 50 boys; both boarders and day pupils, who work together and socialise together. Academic work is important; during the day and into the evening much of the emphasis is on that. However, we also encourage fun, relaxation and social interaction. Break times and lunch times are busy, with the pupils spending time in the common rooms or Matron’s office. Evenings provide a variety of activities like the gym, socialising in the common room, or visiting other Houses. Friendship is important and I think that the friendships formed in the boarding house are amongst the strongest the boys will have in their lives. The House is a vibrant and busy place; we manage to work hard, and play hard. I hope to help the boys become the best version of themselves. I encourage them to participate in all they can do, to be polite at all times, to support each other and to work hard. Malcolm Jeffrey Housemaster, Old House
