AN INTRODUCTION TO KING’S20

The King’s20 Accelerator is the Entrepreneurship Institute’s flagship  programme supporting the 20 brightest and highest potential ventures from across the King’s to take their ideas and ventures the next level. We work with ventures at various stages of development, fom those who have conducted customer research and validated their idea, to those who have an established client base and are generating revenue. The programme is open to all King’s students, staff and alumni. Since 2016, we’ve seen 100 ventures launch and take flight

through our King’s20 Accelerator. Our ventures have gone on to raise over £17 million in investment and generate over £20 million in revenue, as well as employing over 400 people.  The Entrepreneurship Institute at King’s College London is a unique place to build innovative new ventures from an array of business sectors. King’s, based in the heart of London, has exceptional connections amongst the entrepreneurial ecosystem in London and beyond.

My cofounder and I wouldn’t have been able to get this far without the ‘culture of nurture’ at the Entrepreneurship Institute. Entrepreneurial minds at King’s have influenced many of the advances that shape modern life, from the discovery of the structure of DNA to the research that led to the development of radio, television, mobile phones and radar.

For almost 200 years, King’s College London has been striving to improve the world. King’s has been bursting with talented, innovative and entrepreneurial people since 1829, solving problems and identifying new opportunities. Entrepreneurship has never been more popular than it is right now and has never been more vital. As economies and work patterns change across the world, as we face new and complicated challenges, entrepreneurship will play an essential role. Innovative and entrepreneurial mindsets will create positive change. We are delighted to introduce you 4

to the very best of our early-stage, high-potential entrepreneurs selected from among our talented family at King’s College London. Our fifth cohort includes early -stage ventures from Tech, Health Innovators, Community Tech, and Social Impact, and nine out of 20 founders are women. Our accelerator is unique in two important ways: i) our innovative and diverse entrepreneurs are either King’s students, staff or alumni (from any year); and ii) they own their own IP.
