The King’s20 Accelerator is the Entrepreneurship Institute’s flagship programme supporting the brightest and highest-potential ventures from across King’s to take their ideas and ventures to the next level. Our spin-out ventures are founded together with King’s research staff and to which King’s College London has licensed or assigned College owned IP and the College has taken a shareholding or equivalent membership interest as consideration for or part consideration for the licensing or assignment of the aforementioned IP. Spin-out companies are an important mechanism through which we see our innovations developed into products and create impact, playing an important role in local economic development through employment of people and interactions with universities and other businesses. In 2021, King’s companies were ranked 4th in the UK and 1st in London in terms of the equity investments secured in year (~£248million). These sums are equivalent to the research income of big universities and underline the important role these new ventures play in taking technology forward and creating jobs and, wealth and impact. 28

SOLUTION Fast thinking, or relying on ‘gut instinct’, fuels paranoia. Using personalised mobile technology, SlowMo supports people to slow down and feel safer in daily life. MARKET 1 in 5 of us experience paranoia, and it severely affects 600,000 people with schizophrenia in the UK, costing the economy £11.8 billion annually.
