How using black can actually breathe life and colour into your interiors.

Our misunderstanding of black – or rather, how to use it properly – has arguably denied generations the pleasure of using something that can provoke mystery, intrigue, style brightness.

Here are a selection of ways in which black is rapidly gaining a reputation for revival:

The black spot Using black doesn’t mean daubing every lounge wall in the stuff. Instead, take one piece of furniture, a picture, a let it stand out from the rest of your colour scheme. Matt black can be particularly striking if contrasted with notably different textures.

Bold and big Using black for a focal point will usually often a statement feature wall, and looks great. The Stripe Type Perhaps the most colour combination of them all is the black and white repeated stripe. For a rug, wall hanging, throw or even carpet, black and white in close proximity prove a classic combination.

Complementing your impeccable taste And of course, using an array of fabrics and fashions in terms of furniture, cushions, lampshades, carpets and rugs will add to the intensity of detail that only black can provide.
