Lola’s Sanctuary Animal Rescue is based in Crawley and dedicated to giving abandoned, stray, neglected, abused and surrendered cats and dogs a better tomorrow.

We rescue and rehome as many cats and dogs as possible. Our centre also provides specialist facilities and lifelong care to animals with complex needs.

In action

Rescuing animals off the streets: When we received a call about an injured stray cat called Ebony, we rushed to get her straight to the vets. Once her injuries healed, we took her to be spayed and vaccinated only to find that she was six weeks pregnant! She had a difficult pregnancy but stayed strong and had two gorgeous kittens!

She soon went into heat again and without keeping her inside she would have quickly gotten pregnant once more. This is why it is so important to have your cats neutered/spayed or keep them indoors; if we hadn’t been able to rescue this cat, more and more kittens would have been born to live on the streets. Instead, she and her babies now have all the love and care they deserve. Helping those in need: We were alerted to a situation with someone who cared very much about their animals but was no longer able to care for them. Their home was full of animals but, due to illness, their care had become unmanageable. This left them all in a very unhealthy environment.

We could see that this person needed support so we took time to better understand and approach the situation with empathy. Sadly, it is too common that people with good intentions take on more animals than they can properly care for, become too unwell or don’t have the support needed to look after their animals.

We spoke together at length about the needs of the animals and agreed that it would be best to let us find new homes for them. We’re thankful that this person is now accessing support and has kept a couple of their animals, who have received veterinary care and are living in much better conditions.

A significant amount of time, cost and work goes into caring for animals - they are not an easy nor short-term commitment! Before taking on an animal, please do your research to understand the commitment you are making. We love getting to know our animals’ new families to make sure they are well matched and have all the right support.

How you can help

Sponsoring a cat or dog at Lola’s Sanctuary Animal Rescue is one of the best ways you can help animals in need. We are a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation and receive no government support. Your sponsorship goes directly to providing our animals with shelter, warmth, food, veterinary care and all the love they need.

You can sponsor one of our sanctuary animals for as little as £5 a month. Please visit
