COLOUR

It was told to select any area or space and make a study on it finding out. Whats the area / space used for, What furniture is used or kept there, Does that space fulfils the requirements, Etc.The area I took was an apartment which was less than 1500sqft. In that area there were two bedrooms, two balconies, small kitchen, dining hall and sitting room combined .The problem I observed in that apartment was , a cradle kept in the sitting room which took lots of space and was heavy.

STAGE 2 About the Cradle A study on the existing cradles were done after the 1st exercise. The advantages and disadvantages of existing cradle was.

Advantages : The structure ,material and joineries of the existing Cradle made it stronger Steady and stable No possibility of damage could be happened to the cradle easily. Very comfortable for the baby.

Disadvantages : Takes lots of space Heavy and cant be moved easily Not going along with the interiors. Cant be dismantled. Cant be used only for a very short time.

STAGE 3 Brain Storming After a detailed study about advantages & disadvantage torming about the development of a new concept which came up with the needs and requirements .And I came to the conclusion as follows: After the brainstorming section an overall idea about the requirements needed for the new concept was clear. So, it was sure that a cradle is a furniture in which the folding mechanism can be applied/ involved to. Without changing the baisic logics of the old furniture (cradle) many new rough sketches and diagrams of folding cradle were made .

Rough sketches towards a concept which can support all the needs that are figured out. 8

FOLDING FURNITURE | KIRANPRASANTH R

The concepts and rough sketches shown here were rejected because of its less stability, complicated folding technique, sharp edges, complexity for users interaction and also wood as a material which was not suiting the structure and mechanisms.
