Industrial
We’re Kirksey Industrial. Kirksey’s Science & Technology Team consistently delivers efficient, high-quality facilities. Our industrial practice is focused on both the energy and oil & gas sectors and our experience is extensive. Industrial projects differ greatly in terms of size, scope, and programmatic elements but all include a complex set of requirements, necessitate a specific delivery method, and demand a thorough, holistic approach. We understand how to design facilities for progressive, forward-thinking companies, as evidenced by our diverse portfolio that includes manufacturing centers, oil field service facilities, “inside-the-fence” blast resistant office structures, and workplace training facilities. Combined with the larger knowledge base of Kirksey’s Science & Technology Team, Kirksey Industrial delivers exceptional facilities.

We design world-class facilities.
DYNA-DRILL MOTOR CENTER OF EXCELLENCE
Many of our industrial clients are Fortune 500 companies striving to differentiate themselves in an increasingly competitive market. We help identify and further our clients’ competitive advantages through the creation of world-class facilities. Creative architectural solutions help with employee retention and recruitment while efficiently designed facilities save time and money.
DYNA-DRILL MOTOR CENTER OF EXCELLENCE
Kirksey’s Science & Technology Team designed this state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Katy, Texas. The new facility is over 300,000 square feet, situated on 17.7 acres, and includes office and laboratory space, a manufacturing area, an engineering high bay, and components for trash and liquid waste storage. Unique design solutions support industryspecific equipment.
HUNTSMAN ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY CENTER
We understand inside & outside the fence. Our process helps facilitate seamless decision-making for all stakeholders, even for complex projects. Many of our clients are plant operators, and whether a project is “inside” or “outside” the refinery fence line, we understand the protocols, vernacular, processes, and delivery methods involved. Blast mitigation, shelter-in-place requirements, fresh air shut off and HVAC redundancies, and near plant risk mitigation are just some of the requirements that must be considered when designing an industrial facility.
Buildings are the largest consumers of electricity and potable water and industrial facilities, due to complex process systems, are no exception. Our goal is to provide solutions that help mitigate the use of these resources while positively affecting a building’s operating costs and consumption footprint.

We build using a variety of construction types. Kirksey designs industrial buildings of various construction types including: Pre-engineered metal buildings Tilt-up concrete Cast-in-place concrete Metal clad Masonry Non-ferrous construction
Kirksey helps each client determine the construction type that is most conducive to their project’s functional, budgetary and aesthetic needs.
SHELL TECHNOLOGY CENTER HOUSTON
We plan custom support spaces. Kirksey designs industrial facilities that require a variety of spaces to support primary operations. These support spaces include: break areas, locker rooms, central control rooms, server rooms, tornado/hurricane safe rooms, lobbies, meeting rooms, living areas, dispatch spaces, high-pile storage, equipment rooms, and hazardous material storage.
There are hundreds of support functions that can be included in an industrial project, and our goal is to seamlessly integrate each one into an efficient architectural solution. Successful integration requires coordination and a comprehensive understanding of project requirements and goals.
HOUSTON AREA SAFETY COUNCIL
We program unique training facilities. Kirksey has designed a variety of training and meeting spaces including conference rooms, auditoriums, high-tech teaching rooms, multi-purpose rooms, hands-on vocational instructional spaces, and classrooms. We design training spaces that enhance the learning process, maximize flexibility, and integrate high levels of technology.
Successful implementation of technology is critical, especially in facilities that require a high level of hands-on technology for users, occupants, and visitors. Ergonomic factors, hardware consolidation and operational requirements, user access requirements, security, and teaching methodology must be considered when designing a training facility. Our goal is to integrate technology early in the design process rather than install it as an afterthought.
HORIZON WIND ENERGY
Energy-efficient design. Industrial facilities, data centers, and laboratories are all specialized building types with unique opportunities to optimize building performance. In addition to ensuring energy efficiency and reducing cooling loads, owners often seek to create healthy and productive work environments that will help attract and retain exceptional staff. Kirksey has experience employing a variety of strategies to meet these needs. Our in-house analysts simulate and evaluate building and site performance through the use of energy and daylight modeling, computational fluid dynamics, water use and collection analysis, and acoustic simulation. In addition, we provide strategies to reduce energy use, minimize stormwater runoff, enhance indoor air quality, evaluate life cycle costs, and lower water consumption. With over 26 million square feet of LEED速 certified projects in our portfolio, we are committed to sustainable architecture.
