Make sure you have a tight-fitting lid on your meter pit.

Fill the meter pit with fiberglass insulation, especially if your lid doesn’t fit well.

Place a blanket or straw bale on top of the lid for insulation.

Recycled Content Picnic Tables Purchased! The City’s Parks and Recreation Department recently purchased and installed 26 new picnic tables made from recycled tire and plastic materials, at Brashear, P.C. Mills, Jaycee, and Memorial Parks that were funded entirely by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Non-Playground Scrap Tire Material Grant. Parks and Recreation was awarded the same grant for 2022 to install 20 new benches—also made from recycled tire and plastic material—along City trails and in Rotary Park. This recycling effort has ensured that over three tons of crumb rubber tire material was diverted from a landfill, while providing attractive public furnishings throughout the City. For more information, contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 660.627.1485.

Curbside Recycling is Easy! Curbside Recycling is easy! Your recycling tote must be placed curbside, every other week, by 6:00 am, on your scheduled day of garbage collection. If you have more recycling than what will fit in your tote, you are allowed to set additional recycling beside the tote in clear plastic bags. Also, be sure to remember the following: • All recyclables must be clean of ALL food waste and other debris. • Cardboard and newspapers should be bundled.
