Kirsty Alderson Tigerprint Colour OUGD303 Design Practice Brief Three
The Brief Create a range of repeat patterns for a male target audience based on spring trends for 2013 to submit to the Tigerprint competition. Extend the brief by applying this to a party pack product range to be sold in Paperchase stores.
Concept The concept for this brief is based on how a single repeat pattern design can be transformed to be applied across a whole range of different products in various different ways as well as being about considering how this range can then be extended via the use of colourways.
Target Audience Males 16 - 30

Colour All the colours that have been utilised both on the design on the first board and then the ones above are based on the colour trend research intially done for the Tigerprint competition and the colours that seem to best target a male target audience. The way in which the colour has been applied gives the design depth. The Paperchase logo would also be different when applied to each party pack to suit which ever design colour is being utilised.
Concept The concept behind the different colourways is to both extend the brand range and also give the consumer different options because some colours may appeal to consumers more than others. The same products would be available in each range but in different colours.

Specifications Invitations and RSVP’s: 245gsm white matt stock Blue foil finish Envelopes: Bulky newsprint
Invitations, RSVP’s and envelopes The invitations and RSVP’s utilise the repeat pattern design in it’s most basic form so that the design is interesting but not overpowering. There are two different invitations and RSVP’s based on the way in which the colour has been applied to the design to further add to the range. In order to create a high quality finish these elements are also foiled.
The concept behind the RSVP being smaller is that it can be posted out with the invitation inside the same envelope. Each is also blank so a personal message can be written inside. There are also two different varieties in colour of envelope to go with each of the different invitation and RSVP designs.
Napkins, plates and cups These elements utilise the full repeat pattern more so than anything else but in different ways so that the products aren’t appearing too much the same but still work well together as a range.

Packaging and context All the products would come together in a plastic bag with a cardboard strip to brand the range along the top so that they could be hung from the wall in Paperchase in the same way that gift bags usually are. This is so that the consumer can see exactly what they are buying and the quality of it without having to go through a lot of unecessary packaging. The whole range would be placed together in one section of the shop near the other party elements that Paperchase sell.
