Brief/Session/Document Title: Off The Reel (illustrative type)
Brief
Create and brand a ďŹ lm memorabilia company that specialize in illustrative type based products. Come up with three different examples of illustrative typefaces based on popular ďŹ lms and apply them to various products in order to show the range the company will offer.
Background / Considerations
What memorabilia will the audience buy in to? What would make these products successful? Should there be a colour restriction on each design so that it doesn t become too complicated and communicates well as type? Think further than just making an image into a shape. How can image and type compliment each other to create something? Would serif or sans-serif be more ideal for each design or does it depend on the subject? Are the typefaces designed to be used or to be enjoyed visually? Think about whether the typefaces need to link to each other or whether it would be more interesting to have a set of completely different themes. Will the typefaces be hand drawn, screen printed or digitally printed?
