Interview by Sarah Tate
In the Hot Seat I am completely giddy with excitement as we introduce the very lovely Annabel Beeforth. Not only does she run the famously popular blog ‘Love My Dress’ which is so inspirational, but she has also recently released her first book ‘Style Me Vintage Weddings’. We managed to catch up with Annabel in-between assignments to find out more about the lady herself, her work and the book. Tell us about your blog ‘Love my Dress’ and what makes it different to other blogs? Love My Dress is a beautifully curated online resource designed to inspire brides who appreciate elegant, glamorous, timeless and often vintage inspired style. What can brides expect to find on the blog? We blog almost every day and feature real weddings, discussion posts relating to love, life and wedding related issues, inspiration boards, wedding films/videos, DIY tutorials, visual inspiration/mood boards and features that introduce our readers to brilliant suppliers, who are often keen to share money saving deals with our readers. Time and time again, readers tell us that Love My Dress was their

favourite blog because we come across as genuinely caring about the couples we feature, and their love stories. And we really do. We edit our features thoughtfully and sensitively - it means our readers really trust us. What do you love about your current job? That we genuinely inspire brides decisions relating to one of the most important days of her life and that we connect talented designers and brilliant businesses with new clients. Most of all, I absolutely love being part of a creative community that is collectively dedicated to making one day in a couples lives the most wonderful that it can be. We’re a nice bunch us wedding folk.

I also love the flexibility my job affords me, being my own boss. I work harder than I ever have done before but it’s so much more rewarding than anything else I’ve ever done. I wouldn’t change a thing.
I really admire anyone who can set up a successful fashion business these days, it’s not easy. I wish more brides would fully understand and appreciate the benefit of having a beautifully cut and produced dress that fits to perfection.
Any industry/colleague ‘shout outs’ to businesses you rate highly.
How do you relax when you are not at work?
It would be a shame to name one and miss out others, but let’s just say, I’m always in huge admiration of anyone who builds up a business from scratch and especially in a creative industry like this one. I have a particular keenness for bridal fashion and am a big supporter of independent bridal wear designers – my husband graduated in fashion design and has taught me a lot about good design and quality production.
I absolutely love watching movies of all genres but particularly thrillers. I’m also getting back in to reading after a long break from books, simply because I never seemed to have any quality time to sit down and read! One of these days, I’d absolutely love to get back in to knitting again, it’s just finding the time, but I used to love knitting as a child and loved the creative process.

Where is your favourite place and why? Whitby. No doubt about it. Phil and I used to visit frequently in the early stages of our relationship (we met in 2000) and I fell in love with the place from the off, it’s just such a beautiful little seaside escape – a really gorgeous coastal retreat. Phil grew up near Whitby and his family tree dates back in the area for literally hundreds of years, so it almost feels as though we belong here. We named our first daughter after the river here – she’s called Eska, and we got married here in 2009. We always talked about retiring here, but after spending my birthday weekend in Whitby last year, we decided we just wanted to move ASAP. And so we did! Within 2 months we’d found the most beautiful hilltop house with views of the beautiful countryside and shortly before Christmas we moved in. It all happened very quickly and since then I’ve been really busy promoting my book. We’re only just now in the process of selling our old house back in Gateshead!

A favourite childhood memory? Mum telling me that she’d booked tickets for us to go and see E.T. at the cinema. I was so excited I cried. Then I cried 16 more times during the film. I remember counting. I was so sad that E.T had to go home but I loved the movie. I recently bought it for my children and it’s still as magical now as it was back then around 30 years ago! Looking back at 2013 what are the events/moments that stand out for you the most (just relating to the wedding industry). Launching my book back in April at the most beautifully styled event in East London. I still pinch myself that I’ve even written a book at all. Then I remember all the blood, sweat, tears, lack of sleep and very late nights that went in to it and I have to pat myself on the back for ticking off one of my life’s dreams – it certainly was a challenge attempting to write a book whilst running my own business and care for my children during the summer holidays last year!!

What great ideas have you seen coming through on the blog? I absolutely adore the way brides are experimenting with flowers as a way of accessorising on their wedding day. Back in early 2010 I featured a bride in the most amazing flower crown and predicted (and hoped) that many more brides would follow suit by wearing flowers in their hair. They did, but now brides are getting braver and wearing bigger, bolder floral creations and I LOVE that – I’ve seen some exquisite wrist corsages worn by bridesmaids too, in place of a traditional bouquet. Let your Florists be creative and try something different!

About the book Tell us a bit about your new book ‘Style me Vintage Weddings’?
Point us to any favourite sections in the book?
Style Me Vintage Weddings is my first, beautiful book that has been written to inspire brides looking to style their wedding using the past as inspiration.
I think possibly the 1920s and 1930s might be my favourite. I’m a sucker for the beauty of those two particular eras – red lipstick, pin curls and divine dresses - glamour was the watch word!
Chapters cover every era from the Edwardian period through to the 1970’s - each key era chapter providing a historical context of the times, a focus on bridal fashion, beauty, and suggestions for wedding day styling with a focus on florals, cakes and stationery. Other chapters look at wedding day scent, photography and film, fashion labels to look for and there is also a very useful list of suppliers included.
Can you see vintage styles and trends continuing to grow in popularity and why? The way I see it, vintage is a word that has been somewhat overused and some people are almost bored of hearing about it now – which on one level I can understand. The industry latched on to it and it was the trend du jour for almost all of 2011 and 2012.
Will it only appeal to people that are looking at a specific era as a theme for their wedding? Not at all. Style Me Vintage: Weddings has been written to inspire and appeal to all brides, because I believe that there is so much beauty that can be drawn from the past that can translate in to the modern day wedding, regardless of any personal styles, tastes and preferences. This is not a book for vintage purists or to be pigeon holed ‘for vintage lovers only’ - it is a book that celebrates beautiful things inspired by the past.
KISS THE BRIDE
Then some of the industry rejected the notion of a ‘vintage wedding’ feeling it represented a bad style of wedding photography with a dirty style of edit – but from where I’m sat, I can see that the term ‘vintage wedding’ is being much more accepted these days. I say in my book, in my view, fashions and styles of the past are timeless, beautiful pieces of history, that should be accessible to all who admire them today – including brides. ‘Vintage Wedding’ is simply a descriptive term applied to evoke the style and aesthetic chosen by a modern bride or couple, which reflects a major element of their wedding day. Like it or not, there is no denying the beauty and appeal of a vintage wedding dress and all that exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail, or of the elegant accessories rediscovered after years tucked away in storage boxes, or of the heirloom veil that your Grandma wore at her wedding.
‘Vintage Wedding’ is simply a descriptive term applied to evoke the style and aesthetic

it would last! Kelly Fenton from Skelton and Joe Ward from Brotton, both 28, are engaged to be married and living together in Brotton. Kelly is an Assistant Manager at a Travel Agent, and Joe is a Marine Engineer in the British Navy.
Joe: We both met through mutual friends on a night out in Guisborough. On our first date I took Kelly to Whitby. We just had a drink and found out lots about each other.
Joe: Within the last two years, we had just bought a house together when I found out I was getting posted to Bahrain on an Operational Tour with the Navy, so that was really hard.
Kelly: It was very relaxed and we got on really well, so instantly from first meeting each other, I knew it would last!
Kelly: I was worried about how I would cope on my own for 6 months looking after a house, especially as we had only lived
in it together for such a short time. We got through it however, speaking every day, either on Skype, text, email or on the phone. My friend was in the same situation with her partner, so we managed to get through it together! Joe: I decided to propose to Kelly before I went to Bahrain. I asked Kelly’s dads permission first as I wanted to do it properly! Kelly: I went out to Dubai to see Joe on his R&R (mid-tour break). We were at the top of the highest

building in the world at sunset, the Burj Khalifa. Joe went all quiet so I knew something was going on! Then he asked me if I would marry him! He didn’t have a ring as he’d been on a ship for 3 months, so he proposed with a rubber seal from the ship, which was very apt and quite romantic really. We then went to the gold souks the next day to pick one together, which was made for us especially. Joe also wears an engagement ring. Joe: To celebrate the engagement, once I got home after my tour, we had a big party with all our friends and family to celebrate. It was a lovely night! Joe: For the Wedding, we always said we wanted to get married in Church, so we have booked Brotton Church, which is in my home town. Kelly: I have always loved Gisborough Hall, so I didn’t really need to look anywhere else for the reception. We have booked it for a Christmas Wedding for December 2014!
Kelly & Joe x Kelly and Joe are engaged to be married on Sunday 7th December, 2014.

Country Garden Our stunning set for the day was at the glorious Grinkle Park Hotel, set in 35 acres of parkland with secluded woodland, a tranquil lake and views over the nearby moors. It proved the perfect backdrop for our theme. The long summer days we have recently enjoyed was our inspiration to showcase a carefree summer wedding. We worked with Bex brides for beautiful authentic vintage gowns and Destiny Bridal for a modern twist on our Boho theme. The girls from Watkins-Wright used a combination of modern fishtails and loose curls to create some stunning looks. MUA - Anna from Cordelia & Co. complemented this with a beautiful ethereal look, which can be easily translated into your wedding day make-up.

Venue
Photoshoot
Interview by Sarah Tate
Beauty, Charm and Splendour at
Grinkle Park I have to say that Grinkle Park holds a very special place for me as it was my wedding venue, so I was delighted to be working with their team to bring you the amazing photoshoot we have featured. My husband and I only looked at this venue and we knew immediately it was the right place for us; at a time when many venues were hosting several weddings a day, we loved the fact we had the place to ourselves exclusively! This remains today at the heart of the ‘Classic Lodges’ ethos. We are warmly welcoming Richard Ibbott, General Manager at Grinkle Park Hotel. This absolutely charming venue is beautifully set on the Yorkshire Moors, surrounded by rolling hills and open countryside. It is a complete haven of peace and tranquillity. When did you first start at Grinkle Park and what has changed since you arrived? July 2008, and after some 5 years and in excess of £1 million pounds expenditure the hotel has been fully refurbished, whilst retaining its charm and splendour. 2015 will be the hotels 10th anniversary under our ownership, and we will be launching a very special wedding package to celebrate this exciting birthday. What do you love the most about Grinkle Park? The sheer beauty and splendour of the magnificent building and grounds.
24
A Grinkle Wedding can be an intimate wedding for 4 persons and as grand as 200
What are the key elements to make a really great wedding reception?
Do you have any particular weddings you are looking forward to hosting?
Delivering the Bride and Groom their ideal day with specific attention to detail.
I simply love them all. The ones that are really special are the weddings of all the children. In one family, we have held the weddings for all 3 children and also their Mum and Dad! (who I didn’t know weren’t married).
Grinkle has some great heritage, tell us something about this? Originally a private family home, the hotel still retains this charm and warmth, and is reflected in its hospitality and service, so you have this home from home feeling. What are your fondest memories of the weddings you have hosted at Grinkle? Making new friends from Brides and Grooms, welcoming them back for birthdays and anniversaries and even meeting newborn children. What is the smallest and largest wedding you can cater for? We have catered for an intimate wedding for 4 persons and as grand as 200 and anywhere in-between.
KISS THE BRIDE
What is important to you in running this beautiful venue? Hospitality, listening to my Bride and Grooms needs, delivering the perfect day and most importantly, fun! Any tips for a happy marriage? Yes - Never go to bed having had an argument.

Hairdressing
Country Garden Photoshoot
Interview by Sarah Tate
Award Winning We talk Wedding Hair with accolade winners Watkins-Wright Hairdressing who we recently had the pleasure of working with for the main shoot for the magazine. Watkins-Wright hairdressing have salons in Thirsk, Great Ayton, Boroughbridge and Knaresborough and is very much a team driven company. We talk to Jill and the team to find out what makes WatkinsWright hairdressing so special…
Style
Tell us about Watkins-Wright Hairdressing and how your values benefit your clients.
Is there any advantages for choosing a salon based hairdresser?
We have always been passionate about training, and to be successful the staff have to be trained to the highest standard so we train our junior staff, newly qualified staff and any new starters weekly. Over the years, we have had the top hairdressers in the country with awards such as British Hairdresser of the Year and North east Hairdresser of the Year, I also have been a finalist in the British Hairdressing Awards two years running and won Image of the Year.
Yes, if the bridal party choose to come to the salon they are getting a break away from the hustle and bustle at home. It gives them a couple of hours to try and relax. We offer exclusivity of the salon on that morning. - Amelia, Great Ayton
Our company ethos is to ‘enhance peoples image with a unique experience’. We aim to enhance peoples image rather than change their image unless our client specifically want change. We aim to give our clients a friendly, professional, relaxing and enjoyable experience. We are as passionate about our industry now as when setting up 25 years ago, and looking forward to the next 25 years - Jill WatkinsWright, Thirsk.
26
What other wedding services do you provide?? We offer a full range of beauty services, specifically make-up for weddings. Brides are asking for a more natural make-up as they don’t want to feel uncomfortable and self-conscious on their big day. - Alex, Thirsk What hair styles are proving really popular with brides? Loose curls with their hair down is more popular now than ever. For the brides that want their hair up, the modern bride is a top knot, or curls pinned collectively at the back for that ‘boho’ look. - Katie, Great Ayton
How do you advise brides wanting a completely different look? Balmain hair pieces are a great way to transform hair from drab to fab! The hair pieces are genuine hair and come on clips so you can try before you buy. They can be styled by us over and over again to get the perfect look. - Amelia, Great Ayton Do brides need to be thinking about their hair at an early stage of the process? Definitely, it’s a complete look! You need to know what the dress is like to style the hair. e.g. if a bride is considering having her hair down but the dress has amazing detail at the back you won’t get the full effect. - Katie, Great Ayton
Watkins-Wright Hairdressing have salons in Thirsk, Great Ayton, Boroughbridge and Knaresborough. www.watkins-wright.co.uk
We offer exclusivity of the salon on that morning
How can brides ensure their hair looks great all day? It is essential brides have a trial for their hair. This ensures we know the brides hair and how best to prep and style the hair to last throughout the day & night. Any new products you are loving right now – what and why? Schwarzkopf Oasis session no3 strong hold hairspray. Gives fabulous hold and shine, great for pin-ups but can be brushed out if the bride is wanting to change her hair for the evening. - Claire, Boroughbridge

Kiss and Make-Up
Country Garden Photoshoot
Article by Anna at Cordelia & Co.
and make-up With Anna at Cordella & Co
For this fabulous Boho inspired shoot for Kiss the Bride magazine, I wanted to create an ethereal, yet polished look. It is The Natural Look so often requested by Brides – “make-up, without looking made-up!”. Armed with mood boards from the KTB Team, I set about designing this look. Think majestic and heavenly, with a nod to vintage. It is this perfect, simple and fresh look that will leave Brides glowing in both pictures and in person.
For the shoot, I knew skin needed to be flawless with depth through contouring and subtle highlighting. For this I worked with the models’ natural skin tones, and also their hair colour, which plays an important role in getting the correct base colour. If your skin is not as perfect as porcelain however, fear not! There are many amazing products which can be used to smooth the surface and diffuse the light.
28
A favourite of mine is Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick – although I do recommend a make-up with an SPF for daily wear, for a shoot I prefer a non-SPF as this can bounce flash in photographs and make you appear a whiter shade of pale! I blended three shades of colour across the face, for a seamless look.
Cordelia’s Tips for Photo-Ready Make Up 1
Contour & Highlight – use blush for definition. Nothing looks worse than flat, one-tone skin!
2
Matte does work well on camera, but can be aging depending on the skin – use an illuminating powder to combat!
3 The camera will tone colour
down – don’t be afraid to play-up your best feature!
For eyes I adore Urban Decay – their Naked 2 palette is the epitome of Boho Chic – it contains fabulous earthy shades from nudes to copper and rich browns. I love softly blended tones rather than harsh edges, so I used a dark brown

Interview by Sarah Tate
Elizabeth George Introducing Katie and Laura, the two gorgeous sisters that have so lovingly put their heart and soul into this beautiful boutique, named after their grandparents George and Elizabeth! The girls were keen to show us their beautiful, welcoming premises in Linthorpe, Middlesbrough…and I was certainly impressed! Greeted by the huge selection of gorgeous bridesmaids and bridal outfits, and with a separate section for suit hire, it’s obvious that the layout of Elizabeth George has been carefully thought out. The truly remarkable bridesmaid section has over 270 gowns in every shade and style imaginable; from big names such as Alfred Angelo, Dessy and Alfred Sung. Bridal is equally remarkable with collections from Amanda Wyatt, Mori Lee and Sophia Tolli, in all cuts from A-line to fishtail. You are guaranteed to fall in love!
Keep an open mind about the style of dress you are looking for The second floor houses the absolutely stunning Bridal section, designed to give you that extra “Wow!” factor. Serene and beautiful, it makes you feel like The Only Girl In The World as you choose your gown. Spacious and private fitting rooms enable you to be comfortable and truly enjoy the experience of finding the dress of your dreams, just as it should be.

When asked for expert, sage advice for our readers, Laura says “Keep an open mind about the style of dress you are looking for and trust in out experience to help you find the one”. The huge gallery of testimonials Katie and Laura have created is testimony to all of the Brides they have helped.
When I quiz Katie and Laura a bit more about the industry, its pretty evident that they are well respected and have built up strong relationships with their suppliers over the years, with Amanda Wyatt personally inviting them to dine with her at ‘The Wedding Dress of the Year awards’ when she won! Of all the bridal retailers, she is keen to associate herself with this boutique! Great customer service is paramount to their success. Katie tells me “We work with our clients on a one to one basis, so if I first meet and help a Bride, it would be me that stays with the Bride right

through the process, overseeing all of the fittings personally, making sure everything is perfect!”. The in-house seamstress is a Godsend; all alterations stay within Elizabeth George. It was an absolute pleasure to meet Laura and Katie and it really is not surprising why Brides gravitate to this boutique! Flowers
Floral Perfection Do you ever wonder how the exhibitors at huge flower shows like Chelsea manage to get acres of blooms in peak condition for one week of the year? Well, your florist has a similar task putting together a magical creation, that is at its peak for that one event – your wedding day! Whether you want tight buds or big blousy blooms – timing and conditioning are everything. KTB catch up with Linda and her team at Flowermaiden; the shop is bursting with blooms, all at differing stages of perfection. Linda says with a smile “It’s not uncommon to be caught giving the flowers a few gentle words of encouragement! Some days a stern talking to is just what is required!”. The supply chain is key, having a set of reliable growers to work with directly ensure
that the quality is right! Years of experience undoubtedly play a huge part in creating perfection, it’s an art form and not an exact science mastered by the highly skilled. Flowermaiden have just opened a new studio at The Bow Street Centre, Guisborough for private consultations. Linda says “Brides can be given one to one attention to discuss their ideas, in comfortable surroundings”. Appointments can be made on 01287 631001.

Faye and Daniel Charlton, living in Hartlepool, were married on the 15th June 2013 at St Mary Magdalene Church, Hart Village, followed by the reception at Shotton Hall in Peterlee. The Church is their local village Church, and after attending other wedding ceremonies there, the couple loved the atmosphere. Faye: The Church was big enough for our 120 guests but intimate enough that everyone felt part of the ceremony. I got quite emotional and I think my friends and family felt it too. Dan: On the day, surprisingly I felt very calm; I was more excited than anything else and just wanted the celebrations to start. It all felt quite natural to me, it felt right. I couldn’t have imagined how beautiful Faye looked when I first saw her, I felt like a really lucky man. Faye: I didn’t feel nervous at all which really surprised me. Dan and I have been together for 11 years and I couldn’t wait to say my vows. As we looked at each other I couldn’t stop smiling.
38
Dan: At the reception, we had a photo-booth which was probably the biggest highlight of the day for the guests. Everyone threw themselves into the opportunity to dress up and write us a funny message alongside their photos in our guest book!

g had “This Wedd in in been 11 years and the making, to I wante d Dan uch know how m me.” he meant to Faye: For decoration, I wanted something romantic and soft, and had this vision of beautiful pastel flowers as our centrepieces. I kept imagining a romantic English garden setting; I wanted soft pinks, purples and white to contrast. I included butterflies and fairylights to finish. I was overwhelmed when I saw the room altogether for the first time! Faye: When it came to picking my dress, the tears from my Mam indicated I’d found “the one”! I didn’t even need to keep looking, something just told me this was my dress and wouldn’t feel as special in anything else. Dan: My favourite part of the day was Faye organising for our song, ‘Slide Away’ by Oasis to be played and all our guests joined us on the dance floor. It was a really special moment! Faye: My favourite was Dan’s speech. He is quite a shy and quiet man and he was dreading the speech as most men do. I was so proud of him; he told me how much he loved me and how proud he was of the woman I had become from the teenage girl he first met. I will never forget those words.
Faye & Daniel x A Word from the Photographer: These two just wrapped up in love made it really easy to capture such true, timeless images; really amazing people. I feel completely blessed to be given the honour of capturing such a special moment in this amazing couple’s lives. You two are amazing, and I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness. Interview by Kim West
Eoin and Lucy Carroll, both living in Stokesley, were married on the 15th April 2013 at Rushpool Hall Hotel in Saltburn. Guests travelled from afar, so were invited to make a weekend of it, with many guests staying at Rushpool Hall on the Sunday night; a great chance to get to know each other! Lucy: We didn’t do much by tradition, spending the night before the wedding together in our lovely bridal suite. It was lovely because we could see how excited we both were. Mum, myself and my Bridesmaids all got ready with Champagne! Eoin: I was feeling both nervous and excited so to distract me I went to Saltburn beach for a swim. Breaking with tradition again, I had two Best Men (James and Andy) who were waiting at Rushpool for me with a bottle of champagne!
Lucy: When it came to getting ready, my hair was done by my hairdresser from Morgan Hair in Stokesley, and my make-up by Natalie from The Powder Rooms in Stokesley, both of which were very natural which suited my style. I’m not a fan of too much attention, but I thoroughly enjoyed all the focus that morning. When it came to the dress, Mum convinced me to try a Princess style. I tried one on and I loved it! It was a sweetheart neckline with an embroidered sparkly bodice; I felt like a Princess for the whole day! Eoin: One of my Best Men Andy told me not to turn around until he said so, so that I had a full view of Lucy as she came down the aisle. I could barely contain myself when I saw her, it was like an erupting explosion of feelings all at once. Lucy: We had our friend Cat Costello singing during the ceremony; she was amazing! As soon as she started singing while myself, Dad and Bridesmaids were waiting to walk in to the
40
Ceremony, we all welled up! It really made it special and intimate. As soon as I saw Eoin I knew this was who I wanted to be with for the rest of my life. Eoin: We always strived for a very relaxed day, enjoying It with our guests. Lucy made bits and pieces herself for the reception, such as table numbers, the seating plan and a welcome sign. I made a 3 tiered cheese cake the day before and also put together a 6 tiered ‘cake’ of cheese draped in grapes. Pretty unique.
“I have always known Lucy was gorg eo us but co uldn’t believ e how beautiful and perfect she lo oked.” “It really wa s unique in that we got to spend a go od bit of time w ith ever yone!”

Our Wedding in Five Words... Eoin: Relaxed, exciting, scary, enchanting, timeless. Lucy: Intimate, personalised, memorable, unique and best-day-of-my-life! Lucy: My flowers were simple avalanche roses with teal accents, and I choose to have loads of candles decorating the room and as centre pieces, rather than flowers. Eoin: My favourite memory was without a doubt seeing Lucy for the first time in her dress, followed closely by my inability to hold it together during my speech! Lucy: One feeling I will always remember is finishing our first dance, feeling totally content that our day and gone perfectly and that I was with Eoin.
Lucy & Eoin x A Word from the Photographer: I really enjoyed doing Lucy & Eoin’s photography and got to know them well on the run up to their wedding. They knew what they wanted from their photos & were keen to catch every photo opportunity in the venue. I love it when couples are willing to go a little further to capture great photos! Interview by Kim West

Ju dges & Reception Co Ho use, Y untr y ar m
Oh my God,
I’m getting married!
Samantha and Lee Dodson, living in Redcar, were married on the 27th May 2013 at Judges Country House Hotel in Yarm.
After a Las Vegas proposal, the pair themed their reception tables around the party city. Featuring large vases filled with huge white ostrich feathers, and tables named after their favourite Vegas hotels, they partied the night away on a starlit dancefloor, capturing the moments in a photo-booth, which “EVERYBODY loved!”. An romantic gesture, Lee would often buy Sam a single pink rose when they first met, so pinks and lilacs were brought in through the floral arrangements and bouquets, with vibrancy a big player in their design inspiration. The venue was chosen due to the grounds, and the couple liked the intimacy; The Courtyard Suite is a specific Wedding suite, situated away from the main hotel area. The ceremony and reception both took place at Judges. Sam: We wanted a bright, colourful wedding, and more fun, rather than a traditional wedding, as it’s more ‘us’. The cake was amazing; a huge four tier pink, colourful, glittery cake filled with chocolate and vanilla sponges, and the word LOVE spelt out down the tiers. My accessories were pinks, blues, greens and purples to keep a young and vibrant colourful theme, rather than traditional silvers and pearls. I also wore cobalt blue Christian Louboutin “Dolly” shoes! Lee insisted on travelling in a VW splitscreen camper van and an old Beetle
42
convertible as he loves them! I was 30 minutes late however, due to both being a lot slower than we had bargained for! Lee: On the morning of the wedding, I was at my parents with my Best Man and my Dad. I woke up every hour from 4:00am, and eventually got up at 6.30am even though my alarm was set for 9:00am! I felt really excited but also slightly nervous! My Best Man was Jack Smith, who originally lived in Marske, but has since emigrated to Australia.
He made the special trip back for the wedding, and helped by taking me for breakfast to calm my nerves. My Groomsmen were Tom Palmer and Jack Palmer (both Sam’s brothers) and Liam Palmer (Sam’s cousin). They were there to show people to their seats, but in reality they did what they do best and just stood and tried to look pretty! We got ready with our suits from Bakers in Middlesbrough. Sam: As soon as I woke up I was extremely excited, diving out of bed! I ran in to my Bridesmaid Helen’s room and said ‘Oh my God I’m getting married!’. I wasn’t nervous, just very excited and wanted the time to hurry up so i could get my dress on! I am a hairdresser so my friend from Watkins-Wright Hairdressing where I work came to do my hair, as well as her mum Nicky who is a make-up artist. It was amazing and perfect and exactly how i had pictured it. I always wear my hair down, so i wanted it to be down but more special than normal.
Our Wedding in Five Words... Sam: Unforgettable, Worth Waiting For & Amazing. Lee: Happiest Day Of My Life! I loved having it done and felt very pampered, as I’m usually the one doing other peoples hair! My dress was beautiful; it was a layered organza fitted fish tail dress, with a sweetheart neckline. It was the 6th dress i tried on, i just grabbed it off the rail without paying much attention to it, but as soon as i put it on i loved it and my bridesmaids and Mum thought it was perfect. Lee: My favourite, most special moment from the day was seeing Sam walk down the aisle towards me. I remember thinking “This is really happening, I’m soooooo lucky!”. Sam: My favourite moment was as we came back outside after the ceremony and were showered in confetti, and also as we were announced into the room as the new Mr and Mrs Dodson and everyone cheered!
macked by “I felt gobs l she lo oked how beautifu , and had in her dress s to stop to smile load cr ying!”” myself from
Lee: Watching Sam fall over whilst in her wedding dress and pink socks, whilst trying to show us all her amazing moonwalk was brilliant. Also watching her and her best friends attempt to re-create an old dance routine they did as kids to Destiny’s Child’s song “Survivor”!
Lee and Sam x
A Word from the Photographer: Bright colour suits my style so I was thrilled when I arrived to photograph the Bride and Bridesmaids getting ready. Everything was co-ordinated in bright shades of pink and purple, right down to the multi-coloured jewelled headdress Sam wore, such a change from the usual white crystals and pearls. I also loved the designer shoes as the traditional “Something Blue”. Judges provided lots of varied backdrops for the photography and we were fortunate with the weather to be able to use lots of outside spaces for the couple portraits. Sam did a great job of carrying the theme through the entire wedding and the cake was a complete triumph. We also had fun trying to recreate the heart shaped image Sam had spotted in a magazine, just as the first rain of the day set in. All credit to the lovely guests for being game on that one! Want to be slim for that special day? Virtual Gastric Band Hypnosis Program Did you know? It’s what’s going on inside your head that controls your eating habits? Hypnosis works with the subconscious part of our mind. Because most eating habits are deeply ingrained in the subconscious. Virtual Gastric Band Hypnosis treatment is targeted to that area of the mind to re-program your eating habits and your relationship with food. Most people who follow a traditional diet system will lose weight whilst they are on that diet. But, as soon as the diet stops, the weight invariably returns, often leaving those heavier than before the diet began! It is estimated that 95 percent of all people who diet experience this cycle. Most diets include some form of deprivation and/ or denial; some involve counting calories, or points, but merely serve to programme the mind to think about food. Thus, when an individual gives up the diet, they will find themselves thinking about food more than they ever did before! And, in the denial of comfort foods, in eating different meals to the rest of the family, three things happen, the brain fights against it, the body fights against and the day to day environment fights against it. Conscious self denial of something can often increase the desire for that very thing, and eating a little less than we need – but eating anything we want – can actually lead to weight loss.
Everyone knows that eating less and exercising more will lead to a better body shape, improved fitness and all-round health. This program employs an imaginary gastric band operation and other mind management techniques, it is not a diet. It enables clients to form new habits that they can maintain, there is no deprivation and so they are liberated from having to think about food all the time; they eat consciously, and are able to listen to what their stomachs are telling them. The result is steady, progressive weight loss – without dieting. This programme consists of five sessions that encourage individuals to be satisfied on smaller amounts of food and to exercise and bring about a permanent change in a persons eating habits. This is not a short-term fix, this is a potentially life changing treatment. I am a UKCP registered qualified psychotherapist with twenty years experience in the field. With this, I Consulta have a psychological tions understanding, which Available enhances my work as a Virtual Gastric Band Practitioner.

Stationery Article by Sarah Tate
Noble Fine Art Stationery with an Exquisite Touch! From my personal experience, choosing wedding stationery isn’t easy! I agonised for months looking for the perfect design and finish, to the point where the production of it was a rush job. With this in mind, discovering Noble Fine Art, a delectable family run business, at a wedding fair we both exhibited at was a breath of fresh air. Talking to Julia Noble of Noble Fine Art, she sympathises with couples looking for that perfect design; "So many options, too many choices? This is perhaps the first time you’ll be making decisions about some very personal stationery – so where do you start?". Describing themselves as traditional printers,
the Noble's use methods such as Letterpress that were created hundreds of years ago, and offer everything you need to make those agonising decisions a pleasure. What are your top tips when choosing your wedding stationery? Give yourselves plenty of time to chat to stationers; say 6-12 months, so you can decide on the right design and price. Don’t be afraid to tell your stationer your budget, most will be able to offer some suggestions to help save cost. Specifying your stationery should be a pleasure and allowing enough time to enjoy the experience will always make it more fun. Where do you get your inspiration from? Italian style, but also by the simpler things; the garden, antique books and textiles, TV and museums. We’ve been professional artists for many years, so work and pleasure mingle. As creative people, much of the joy in our work comes from our clients’ response to what we create. Who would be a typical client? We’ve worked for Hollywood actors, celebrities, banks, major London stores and West End galleries as well as the majority of our clients who desire something a bit special within a budget. We offer all our clients the same quality of design, service, and finished product, so budget restraints may mean a change in stationery specification, but every one of our products is printed and finished to the same exacting high standards.

Beautiful Brides Brides & Belles - Northallerton Brides & Grooms will absolutely love this shop in Northallerton, just over a year since the doors opened and already a fabulous presence! Owners Kelly and Sandy have been friends for over 10 years, originally offering bridal wear for hire based at home. Quickly outgrowing their space they found a great shop on the high street where they continued to expand the business into bridal retail and grooms suit hire. This delectable boutique is light and spacious and walking through the door you are not disappointed with the choice available. Their stunning bridesmaids collections are from Veromia, Venus and D’Zage. Brides & Belles now also stock the gorgeous Cameron Ross range of men’s suits all available to hire. With a gorgeous selection of accessories from veils and tiara’s to shoes and a range of favours and gifts on display, this shop is bursting with wedding fashion. I was really impressed with the Kenneth Winston bridal collections, the dresses are divine! The collection offers such diversity and individuality and the quality is just superb! It was hard to believe that prices start at £700, I expected the price to be much higher. Kelly and Sandy both said they were thrilled with their collections and in particular how pleased they were with the addition of Cameron Ross suit hire! “It is a great addition to the shop, especially since Northallerton does not have a dedicated men’s suit hire shop anymore.” This shop certainly needs to be on your dress shop agenda!

Your Day
Your Way
Chadwicks Inn, Maltby It’s probably fair to say that in recent years ‘traditional wedding venues’ have taken the lion’s share of the wedding market. However we detect a subtle shift and one which suits people who want to do things ‘their way’! With this in mind we would like to introduce you to a delightful pub in the gorgeous village of Maltby, ‘Chadwicks Inn’. We recently met with co-owner Helen Gill, to chat about the possibilities for couples looking for something different and more personal to the packaged deals on offer! Helen tells us “We took over the former Pathfinders public house back in 2008, when we carried out a major refurbishment. Our goal was to provide something not readily available in the area, which is great food, great wine and great service in elegant yet relaxed surroundings, accessible to everyone. Our varied menus cater for everything from a quick lunchtime sandwich to fine dining à la carte. We are family friendly, and our cosy bar is the heart of the village welcoming long-standing regulars and newcomers alike.”
48
The setting is gorgeous and probably not what you would be expecting; there is so much detail inside from beautiful leather sofa’s, rustic wooden saw horse stools to beautiful cornice’s filled with soft candle light. It has a really welcoming and relaxing vibe that would be perfect for a romantic and laid back wedding!
Tell us what you love about your business?
Can you offer exclusive use and is there a hire fee?
Tell us about what couples are asking for at the moment?
We are, above all, very enthusiastic diners. We want to offer what we, as customers, would want to receive, and are therefore passionate about providing the best possible experience for our customers – our aim is for them to leave happy.
We are happy to offer exclusive use, and do not usually charge a hire fee.
More and more couples are looking for individuality for their wedding celebration. They want it to reflect who they are. Some recent requests have been parmesan buns and Jaegerbombs as a toast!
What can you offer in terms of possibilities for a reception? Absolutely anything (within reason)! Our USP is offering a fully bespoke wedding reception to suit the clients’ budget. We can cater for most requirements, and enjoy being able to work with our clients to give them the individual event that they have been looking for. We have catered for everything from an intimate candlelit dinner for 8 to a hog roast, barbecue and live band for 100!
Tell us about the exquisite food on offer? We are very proud to be the only non-residential restaurant in the Tees Valley area with 2 AA rosettes, and are included in the Michelin Guide (four consecutive years). Our menus are varied and change according to the seasons and what is on offer locally. We are happy to adapt our dishes to suit our clients’ requirements, or provide any specific dishes that the client requires. How important is it to source food locally? Local produce is very important to us. Not only does this support our local producers and businesses, but means that we can offer fresh, seasonal ingredients with minimal environmental impact.
We took over the former Pathfinders public house back in 2008, when we carried out a major refurbishment.
Tell us about your team and any accreditations, is this an area you want to develop? We have a fantastic team here at Chadwicks, most of whom have been with us for a long time. We have some very experienced staff, in the kitchen and frontof-house, including two with WSET qualifications (Wine & Spirit Education Trust). Is there a late licence, what time would you typically have to close? Late licences can be arranged. Can the room be decorated to keep in with the couples wedding theme? Absolutely. Included in your package are place cards, menu cards and table plan if required, which can also be colour coordinated.

Mother and Daughter Advertorial

Bridal Campaign for Kate Fearnley Hot off the press ladies! We can now bring you the exclusive results from the ‘Kate Fearnley competition’ which saw Kate and her team select a Mother and Daughter team to front the latest Bridal Campaign. Back in March, Kate Fearnley ran a competition which provided an opportunity for a Mother and Daughter duo to front her latest Bridal campaign. With an overwhelming amount of entries, two lucky pairs starred in the shoot at the stunning Wedding Venue Grinkle Park Hotel, Easington.
Taking inspiration from 1930’s bohemian glamour and her signature 1950’s full skirt style the new collection features lace, embellishment and ice cream pastels. As both competition winners happened to be Brides-to-be, Laura (25) and Karen (28) found the day to be a huge inspiration for their own Weddings, after being pampered in hair and make-up. Karen, who gets married next month said, ‘I have absolutely loved today, but it has made me totally change my mind about my whole wedding day look!’ The day was also enjoyed by their Mums, Julie (51) and Susan (57) who both said it was nice to spend some quality Mother/ Daughter time, and also get pampered!
The Kate Fearnley Bridal Collection is available by made to measure consultation (appointment only) at The Boutique at 224 Linthorpe Road. The number to make an appointment is 01642 227344.

The KTB team were really excited about this shoot, working with an amazing team of professionals in such a stunning setting meant the results were going to be special, we were not wrong! Our mood boards came from What Katy did Next, who also loaned us her exquisite headpieces to complement the gowns from Truly Beautiful. Jade from Gasp photography beautifully captured the scene making the theme really come to life. Jo Leversuch interpreted the brief fabulously and the make-up was simply exquisite. Whilst Sami Nash worked to create the beautiful and dramatic hair style.

Church
Article by Sarah Tate
Introducing the 12th Century Church of St. Oswald’s at Newton under Roseberry as the location for these stunning images produced by Jade from Gasp Photography and our fabulous team, Sami Nash from, Jo Leversuch from Makeup by Jo and Model Alexandra Ellis. Jade tells us “Churches are such beautiful buildings and full of history. The architecture in most Churches is exquisite, thus giving your wedding images an ambient feel to them and your photographs will have so much more life and character to them”.- Gasp Photography I have to admit that I was slightly nervous about introducing the ‘black gown’ but I needn’t have worried. Rev. Paul Peverell the Vicar for St. Oswald’s popped in to see how we were getting on;he was immediately asked “what do you think of the dress?” and the reaction was pleasantly upbeat:“I have married someone wearing a red dress before”. I think this perfectly brings me to the point that the church is moving with the times and with a twitter following of 29K, they are reaching out and becoming a lot more accessible.
KISS THE BRIDE
With this in mind, Churches now give you more choice about which church to marry in. On the day we also had the pleasure of working with Sarah MacVean from MacVean Videography. Sarah created a beautiful short video, carefully crafted to a dramatic musical backdrop to give us a spellbinding piece of work. The video can be viewed on our blog www. macveanvideography.com

Behind
the scenes The shoot itself, not unlike any event presented its own dramas; the weather was awful and model Alexandra was in between hair styles meaning our only real option was to ‘fake it’! I was really inspired at how unfazed Sami was by this and the results were amazing!
Can you wear smoky eyes and strong lip colour on your wedding day? Autumn and winter months are excellent time to wear dramatic make-up to reflect the darker colours in the clothing, flowers and even your wedding dress. Firstly you have to think about your own style, personality and the type of wedding you are dreaming of. To wear both looks together as shown in the images is dramatic and this look may be too much for some people. Therefore you can pick the smoky eyes and focus on nude coloured lipstick, or go for the strong lip colour and focus on natural eye make-up.
Sami Nash from Tinsel Tiara: “A lot of brides, especially with either very fine hair or short hair are now using either clip in extensions or permanent extensions to help create the style they are looking for.”
60
The staying power of this look will last just as long as a natural application of make-up. The key advice is in the preparation and priming of the skin, eyes and lips before applying the make-up. Using long lasting products will ensure the make-up will stay on all day and all evening on your wedding day. www.makeupbyjo.co.uk
Styling
By Sally Thurrell
Style your wedding
to reflect you Your wedding doesn’t have to be colour-themed and perfectly co-ordinated, inject a little personality instead! Flowers, dresses, table décor... Wedding blogs, magazines, Pinterest, input from family and friends... Beginning to plan your wedding is all so exciting and perhaps a little overwhelming? More and more couples are stepping back and ignoring tradition and perfect styling in order to inject a little more of their own personality into their day instead. Louise from Middlesbrough is getting married in a small town in Italy where her fiancé’s family come from, she said, “we never set out to have a ‘destination wedding’, but getting married in the small town where we got engaged and visit a few times a year visiting relatives was just right for us.
“We’re still working on the styling and little touches – my mam passed away four years ago and had red flowers in her own bouquet, so we’re thinking about incorporating that somehow. It really doesn’t matter if it ‘goes’ with everything else, it’s the sentiment behind it that matters more to us.”
4 ways to personalise your wedding Ceremony Readings are an easy way to add a touch of yourselves into your ceremony, maybe a quote from a favourite film or lyrics from a song that’s special to you both.
Dress code Some couples are making quirky alternatives to corsages and handheld bouquets. Brooch, button and felt bouquets and DIY button holes are becoming popular, or even just choosing flowers of relevance to you both, maybe your birth flowers, and attaching an heirloom brooch can add sentiment as you walk down the aisle.
Reception You can put your new-found styling skills to the test when dressing the reception room! Don’t think you have to do everything you see, but if you fancy doing some DIY then place cards and a table plan is a great place to begin. Perhaps name tables after something special to you or scrap it all completely and have a ‘sit where you like’ policy.
Forget all the rules and just enjoy planning!
Sally 62
The point of planning your wedding is to celebrate your marriage, so styling details or not, let it all be about you both and nothing else.

‘the one’ Article by Sarah Tate
Finding
I absolutely love the studio that is Bex Brides based at Hurworth Grange, it is so different to all of the high street boutiques, it’s a complete treasure and a real one off. This is exactly where you need to be looking, if you do want that something completely different to what the high street are offering. Whether it is original vintage, to customise a dress you already have, a pre-loved designer label, a complete bespoke gown or just to find someone that can really get your shape, and find you the perfect gown. Rebecca has helped so many brides; becoming a regional winner last year and nominated again this year, just goes to show that all her Brides rate her very highly indeed. We talk to Rebecca from Bex Brides to find out some of the issues facing ladies looking for their ‘dream dress’ and how to get the best advice. KTB: Isn’t this the most exciting part of the wedding, ‘finding the dream dress?
KTB: How do you get brides to really enjoy choosing the dress, if they aren’t that confident?
It is supposed to be one of the best parts, however in my experience unless you are a “standard size” with loads of body confidence then many brides find it a terrible ordeal. I find my brides come to me either because they have tried everywhere and come to me to have a gown made to encompass all the design features they like, often combining four or five gowns they have tried. Sometimes I have been recommended because they have expressed to their friends their fears and have been assured I will put them at their ease no matter what body shape/size they have.
I make them feel welcome, they have a private appointment, can bring as many or few friends/ relatives as they wish. I have a large private area to change into the gowns. I allow them to leave their leggings etc on until the gown is on as brides of any size feel they have wobbly tummies or bottoms etc.
68
Photography by: Linda Shakesby, Ian Emmett, Karen McGowran and Ollie Vision
KTB: Designing dresses must help you understand what suits certain body shapes? Yes, I look at a bride and imagine I was designing a dress for her and I take into account her height, her shape and her general style. I make the waist look as small as possible, for ladies with bigger busts I minimise them, with a small bust choose a style that maximises the bust. Every single body shape can look awesome. I have brides who are a size 4-6 and want to give themselves a few curves, ladies who are a size 24 and I show off their curves. It is all about balance; if you have for example a pear shape and you are dead set on wearing a fishtail lace gown, then I would add cap sleeves and a beaded belt as this takes the eyes away from the hips and the cap sleeves bring the eyes out to the edges of the shoulders and so balances the image the mind sees. KTB: There must be situations where you have had to go that extra mile for someone? In my “Save the Day” service I have had to salvage many many dresses bought with the hope of losing weight or maybe they have been ill and have lost too much weight. Often brides come in an almighty
KISS THE BRIDE
panic because they have impulse bought a dress elsewhere and have fallen out of love with it. With a few design tweeks and additions I nearly always save the day. In the few cases I cannotoften eBay disasters that are beyond saving, though I have saved lots! Then I sell them a sample gown or pre loved gown and make that perfect for them. KTB: What can brides expect to see in the studio and what is proving popular right now? Its all about lace at the moment. For nearly all my bespoke design work booked in for the next two years they are either short 1950’s style in satin or taffeta with some lace maybe sleeves or as a bolero. The others are long floaty lace dresses in an ethereal style kind of bohemian. And a few 1950’s ballgown full length styles. In my stock off the peg dresses I have the ever popular selection of vintage dresses in every style imaginable from 1940’s originals to 1970’s romantic styles and 1980’s retro Victorian and medieval. Then I have around 200 dresses in current styles , lace fishtail, satin fit and flare and ballgown and princess as well
as the ever popular A-Line. Designers such as Phil Collins, Jenny Packham, Ian Stuart, Maggie Sottero, Ellis etc. I have a huge selection in every size from a 6 to a 26.

Starring our very own gorgeous silver screen sirens; Frankii, Lia and Cristina, perfectly capturing the eternal beauty of actresses from the golden years of cinema. Our set for the day was The Regent Cinema at Redcar; originally The Pavilion Theatre back in 1928 it became the now known ‘Regent Cinema’ in the 1960’s, and fantastically created the ambience we needed for our video shoot. Something everyone in the modern world knows and loves, even takes for granted, there are few things more commonplace today, from cinema and TV to Youtube. In the information age of social media, smart phones and a global society, with far flung friends and relatives the world over who want to be part of your special day. The time of the quality wedding video is now! Your wedding deserves its own moving epic, its own professional hi-definition work of art, forever uploaded and in your pocket, to be shared with your friends and family whenever and wherever, at the click of a button.
KISS THE BRIDE
If you want to show your old friend in Australia how your dress flowed and moved, you can just link them in a second. If you want to relive the highlights of the day on a train ride to London, it’s right there so you can enjoy those moments forever; moving images indeed. The key to a great wedding video is choosing the right people. My background is as a trained cinematographer, and I have worked with clients from Los Angeles, to London and Monaco, including my own personal highlights on a Grammy winning music feature and with an Oscar winning director. So for a showreel and discussion on how to tailor the most perfect movie of your perfect day, please email me directly at RLehman79 @gmail.com.
A word from the photographer: Ian Weldon It’s always nice to be faced with a challenge, it keeps me on my toes and stops me becoming complacent about what I do. When I got the call to work with KTB at an old cinema in Redcar I felt the familiar nervous energy associated with the unknown. Lighting, backdrops, models! How was it all going to work? I arrived with the attitude I have for any other assignment, I’ll figure it all out when I get there. How could it not work? Great people, beautiful venue, beautiful models, it practically shot itself. www.ianweldon.com 73

Buying lingerie Here are our top tips to help you get it right for your perfect day, memorable night and exquisite honeymoon.
1 Before you buy your dress, do
consider what you are happy to expose, or not, as the case may be!
2 Remember you will be
wearing this wedding gown for a long time and yes you want to look fabulous but equally, it needs to be comfortable.
3 Buy your dress first. 4 If possible take your dress
along with you for your lingerie fitting. If this isn’t possible take a picture of your dress with you or make sure you have a full description.
5 If your dress is boned you cannot wear a corset underneath your dress.
6 Decide your budget and let your fitter know.
7 If you have an idea of what you’re looking for then do share this information with your fitter too. 8 Your wedding night &
honeymoon are the beginning of a fabulous new journey with your husband. Would you want a beautiful negligee or gown to make him the happiest man on the planet and you look and feel like a star of the silver screen? We know we would! So think about something for your wedding night and honeymoon.

Venue
There’s a surprise in store for bridal parties – and it is set right in the heart of one of our region’s historic town centres.
Mercure Darlington Interview by Joanne Welford
Sleek, stylish and contemporary, the Mercure has everything right at its fingertips; from a magnificent ballroom capable of catering for the biggest of parties to contemporary dining spaces just perfect for the small and intimate. But the charms of the Kings Hotel don’t stop there, oh no. From the drama of a red carpet entrance to the charming period features that make the historic building so unique, its very beauty lies in the dedicated team of staff on hand to cater to every couple’s hopes and dreams.
So where will you find it? Tucked away in the heart of Darlington, of course. The 83 bed hotel has just undergone a major refurbishment after fire ripped through the 120-year-old building five years ago.
Far from being a catastrophe, the team took it as an opportunity to transform its interior into the stylish, urban venue it is today. Behind its unassuming entrance lie two bars, a restaurant and conference rooms, not to mention the Kings Ballroom with its nine amazing chandeliers, private bar and a dance floor that encompasses the whole room.
James has worked at some of the region’s top hotels and with years of experience on the weddings side of the industry, there’s little he and his team don’t know about when it comes to planning a big day. Part of his brief at the Kings Hotel is to meet couples, take the time to show them its myriad of charms and discuss exactly what they want from their wedding day.
A license for marriages and civil ceremonies and tailor made wedding packages chock full of extra touches also mean the hotel, owned by the Cairn Hotel Group based in Newcastle, can take special care of your big day all in one place.
Wedding packages start from just £2,399 for 40 day guests and 90 evening guests – including arrival drink, three course meal, toast tipple, chair covers, room hire, name cards, table plan, evening buffet, bridal suite, toastmaster and red carpet.
“Our team of staff are keen to make sure every wedding day we host is as special as it can possibly be,” explains hotel sales manager James Grant.
“We can be involved as much or as little as brides and grooms want,” adds James.
“We pride ourselves on being very personal and trying to create the day that our brides and grooms want is very important to us. “Every wedding day is special and unique and whatever ideas our brides and grooms have, we can find a way of working with it.”
76
“And we are more than happy to work with what people want. “We can cater for small and intimate parties right up to hosting 300 people in the ballroom. It is important to get an idea of what our couples want, we can tailor make packages or couples can choose one of our packages.” The ability to offer lots of choice is just one of the ways the hotel goes the extra mile – from flexible
Wedding packages start from just £2,399

room layouts to options on the delicious menu which boasts top quality seasonal dishes using locally sourced ingredients. Its town centre location also makes for a unique venue. “We’re contemporary in our style and service,” adds James. “It can also make for urban and contemporary weddings with photographs taken in alternative locations.”
The stylish interior of the Kings Hotel, however, and its charming period features from original picture windows to the glorious chandeliers and contemporary styling and colour schemes mean there are plenty of opportunities for those seeking something a tad more traditional too.
