ICU (INTERNATIONAL CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY) This year 18 students joined us in the WPC Groups programme from the prestigious Tokyo-based University, ICU. 2012 marked another valuable and productive year in the long-standing partnership between our institutions. Originally part of the Groups Programme in Auckland, ICU moved to Hamilton in 2007 and has produced a radio broadcast for Hamilton Community radio every year since. In six short weeks besides broadcasting to the nation, the group packs in a full-time homestay programme, tours to Coromandel, Waitomo and Rotorua, conversation exchanges with UoW students and auditing University lectures. They also have in-class presentations on NZ culture, multi-lingual classes with GE students and a performance at the end-of-course Certificate Ceremony attended by the Director of WPC, Chelsea Blickem.
IELTS tests are available on fixed dates throughout 2013. Tests are taken on Saturdays and in Tauranga on some Thursdays. The Listening, Reading and Writing tests are all taken on the same day. The Speaking test is usually held on the same day, but can take place up to seven days before or after the other papers. To register for an IELTS test, you should submit your application form as early as possible because tests can sell out early. If test places are still available, applications usually close two days before the test date. For more information about tests visit www.ielts.org or contact Waikato Pathways College.
“I’m having a great time during class and outside. I want to thank everyone”. “Everyone at WPC really looks after us and makes sure we have a good time especially Yoko (Japanese student adviser)”. “I love homestay. My host family is always cheerful and kind”.
