improvement, where teachers are active learners too and which has a sense of being “on the move” – you’ve just found it! For us, the purpose is clear: we’re here to learn. Our Focus On Learning
Our purpose is clear – we’re here to learn! Our smaller classes mean better individual attention. (Average 25 for Juniors, 15 for Seniors). Extension Mathematics classes at Year 9 and 10, together with a wide range of extra challenges mean there is plenty of stimulation for the more able. Extra Reading and Maths support mean those who find the basics difficult get the help they need.
“The staff have been so supportive and helpful” ERO’s June 2008 visit confirmed, yet again, the high quality of student care, teaching, and focus on learning at Central Southland College.
Homework is important in some subjects – but very different from Primary school! Students are expected to take increasing responsibility for their own learning. Teachers go out of their way to provide extra help and tutorials, meaning there is always support when your child needs it.
“Students learn in the most normal, healthy environment (co-ed), but also with the help of a wide range of activities, strong role models, clear boundaries and consistent consequences” Both parents and students consistently rate positive, caring relationships as a special feature of learning at CSC.
We expect every student’s “Personal
Best”
