WE ACCEPT AND HELP OTHERS
Central Southland College is a vibrant and supportive school community. We work hard to provide a wealth of opportunities and experiences for our students and believe in offering a foundation which effectively prepares every young person for life after secondary school in the 21st century. Nestled in Winton, with the backdrop of rural Southland, Central Southland College is perfectly placed to draw on all that New Zealand has to offer. We value and utilise a wide range of links with our local community while also embracing technology to ensure we stay connected and involved in wider New Zealand life.

We look forward to welcoming you to our school. Grant Dick Principal
As a people-oriented organisation with learning as our core business, the way we treat each other and work together is of the utmost importance. Our over-riding value is respect self respect, respect for others, and respect for the environment around us. We maintain a positive tone, orderly routines, and clear expectations of behaviour. High quality pastoral care, excellent teaching, and loads of extra-curricular activities, ensure a positive and safe environment for learning. Opportunities include; Gateway, STAR, youth apprenticeships, work experience, transition to work, extensive career planning advice and guidance, peer tutoring, outdoor camps, and many social activities. Students’ progress through their school career is followed and mentored by a senior staff member who follows them throughout their years at CSC. The Dean develops a close relationship with both students and caregivers, and provides the link to an holistic approach to social, learning, behavioural, and personal needs.
CARING
At CSC we expect everyone to work towards their “Personal Best” in every way. Our motto “Ad Summum” means “to the heights”, or aiming for your own personal goals, and learning to be the best you can be.

We also believe that such activities build a more positive, exciting and engaging environment for students to learn in, and that relationships built with staff outside the classroom can be very beneficial inside the classroom as well. The wide range of extra-curricular activities on offer means every student has the opportunity to follow their passion or to try something new. Our cultural programme is proudly spearheaded each year by enthusiastic musical Major Productions, Kapa Haka and Stage Challenge presentations, while the opportunities for sporting involvement are astonishingly wide.
INTERACTING
We believe that young people develop in character, social skills, cooperation, teamwork, pride, and self-esteem through involvement in sporting and cultural activities.
