Liberty Senior Center welcomes new Just another day at thedirector of ce. Barbara Emery, Assistant Center Director at the Liberty Center, expertly assistant lassoes a “horse” during a group activity. Want to have as much fun as Barbara? Stop in the Liberty
Have you stopped in at the Randolph Senior Adults Association’s (RSAA) Senior Center today! Liberty Senior Center recently? If so you’ve probably noticed a new face—a face that is also familiar to many. Barbara Emery, the new Assistant Center Director, began working at the Liberty Senior Center in 2014. She spent two years enjoying getting to know everyone in Liberty before accepting the Assistant Center Director position at RSAA’s Archdale Senior Center. After six great years in Archdale, Emery knew she wanted to be back “home” with the folks in Liberty, and she welcomed the opportunity to return when Marie Warren retired as the Assistant Center Director a few months ago “My absolute favorite part about working at the Liberty Senior Center is that I am so pleased to be back home with all my friends,” said Emery. “I love it. Since returning to Liberty, she has been busy working alongside Center Director Kaffy Reynolds to provide a variety of opportunities for ages 50+ to create active retirement years. The Liberty Senior Center, located in the Roy C. Reitzel Building, offers tness classes, recreation activities, arts, volunteer opportunities, clubs and many other events. You'll also nd a wealth of information about, and referrals to, resources for seniors. The Center is open Monday through Friday. Whether you’re interested in joining us for a midday meal, some fun group exercise, a computer class or more, stop in and meet others and nd out for yourself what’s happening at your Senior Center! In addition to the Liberty Senior Center, Randolph Senior Adults Association operates Senior Centers in Archdale, Asheboro, and Randleman—as well as Our Place Adult Day Care. Contact the Liberty Senior Center at 336-622-5844 to learn more or visit www.senioradults.org.

Hello neighbors! I have a small grooming shop located around the corner from southeast guilford high school. I’d like to offer grooming to my surrounding neighbors! I have 23 years experience and have worked alongside vets my whole career. I specialize in high anxiety dogs that don’t like to leave home and can’t be around lots of barking dogs. Liberty Chamber Monthly Newsle er April 2022 On March 17th the Liberty Chamber hosted our Annual Spring Luncheon at the Ole Hickory Smokehouse in Liberty. It was a great success with nearly 60 members in attendance along with some valued guests. We would rst like to thank our Chamber Member, The Ole Hickory Smokehouse, for hosting and providing us with a delicious lunch! We would also like to thank our Town Manager, Scott Kidd and our Town Mayor, Filmore York for giving us an update on the Town of Liberty and what we should expect to see within the next few years as our Town grows due to the Mega Site. We would like to give a special thank you to Kevin Franklin, President of the Randolph County EDC for being our guest speaker. During the Luncheon Kevin Franklin spoke to us about the positive impact that the Toyota Plant and Mega site will have on Liberty and the surrounding areas. The Mega site contains 1,800 acres falling all within Randolph County. This 1.29 billon dollar investment is said to create 1,750 new jobs during Phase 1. Phase 1 will consist of the production of batteries for hybrid electric vehicles. There will be six production lines in two buildings. Each building will be roughly 450-500 thousand square feet. Kevin Franklin also explained that if they go into Phase 2 it will be announced before December 2023. If Phase 2 does happen it will bring the total investment to 3 billion dollars and provide 3,875 jobs to our area. Phase 2 will consist of the production of batteries for Folio Electric Vehicles with eight production lines. The Construction for Phase 1 is underway. The pad for construction is 1,000 acres that will all be graded at one time. This will take place within 10-12 months of starting and begin in the Southwest corner of the site. They are currently moving 100-120 thousand cubic feet of dirt per day to get this project underway. Crews are working 24 hours per day, 5 days a week. Some Saturdays will be used to make up work missed due to weather. The rst building will begin construction in May. Their timeline shows that batteries will begin coming off the production lines in 2025. All traf c going into and out of the Mega site will come directly off Highway 421. There will be two interchanges for employee and truck traf c, one from Starmount Ave and the second coming from the Northern portion of the site. To help our community with this change meetings have taken place at RCC, GCC, and NC State High Schools to develop classes for students to learn how to work on these batteries. Toyota is working with Panasonic to develop these courses with the right skill sets needed for people to work. They are hopeful that these classes with start in the next few years. Again, The Chamber would like to Thank everyone who took the time out of your day to help make our Spring Luncheon as success. We are excited for what the future has in store for so many of our members.
