Yearly Summary
April and I believe in our 20+ years here at Liberty, 2023 is the first year we can recall that we did not lose or hire a full time officer! This is an incredible feat considering the lack of Officers available and the predatory hiring by surrounding agencies. Especially considering the very substantial experience (average of 16.9 years) and certifications Liberty's Police Officers can offer.
Traffic
We stopped 2100 cars and wrote 1,555 citations in 2023, 639 were for speeding, 53 more for "exceeding the posted limit" (because they were polite about it and had a good record), 131 for No Operators License, 242 expired, or no license plate, 150 Driving While License Revoked, 23 with no insurance, and 56 alcohol related citations. The average speeder that we cited in 2023 was 21.5 mph above the speed limit.
