A Look Behind The Scenes Some days it seems overwhelming but at the end of the day its rewarding. This a look behind the scenes of me (Kevin Bowman). I love being a part of my community and pour my heart and soul and time into it. However some people have been amazed at all the hats I wear. I am able to do this because God gives me the ability to handle it all. Here is a list of the many hats I wear: Part Owner Of Learning Environments and been with this awesome company for 22 years, Owner of Liberty Leader Newspaper for over 22 years that became a Labor of love and not a money maker . Now with the help of my daughter Shelby Bowman Lopez helping me put it all together we do each month for a paper copy that comes out First Friday of each month. Thankful for Duane Wall for delivering this to 6 town and making multiple trips to replenish supplies. As my tax preparer states you need to raise your prices as you are not making no money. Guess what Kevin Bowman does not get a paycheck - but my pay is giving back to the community. We have not raised prices until this year and this is only because we could not absorb the printing increases and costs for the paper. Now we have Celebrate Liberty Newsletter I have started to add to the community a weekly online source of news. Running the Liberty Leader Newspaper Facebook Group (We get over 100 post request a day - many are SPAM and may have to be removed because they are just not fit. I have to review them all to protect the group so things that should not appear just don’t pop up. The hats continue: Husband, father and grandfather of 9 awesome kids (my most rewarding Hat) Vice President of Liberty Chamber Chair of Town Of Liberty Planning and Zoning Member Of PGHS Athletic Booster Club CGT Photography (Most of my photos essions are FREE) Volunteer in many other areas And the list goes one..... I am glad God has gave me the ability and resources to do these things - Thank Kevin

Winter is in full swing; use caution to avoid weather-related injuries By Mike Causey -Insurance Commissioner
When it comes to winter weather in North Carolina, we hope for the best, but we have to prepare for the worst. Winter weather can cause a lot of problems and create a lot of fire hazards at home. Here at the Department of Insurance, we want to make sure you are safely and properly heating your home this winter. All families should prepare by creating an emergency plan and building an emergency preparedness kit. Did You Know: Space heaters, whether portable or stationary, account for just over two out of five (44%) home heating fires and four out of five (86%) home heating fire deaths? The leading factor contributing to home heating fires (27%) is failure to clean creosote from solid-fueled heating equipment, primarily chimneys. Fifty-four percent of home heating fire deaths are attributed to heating equipment too close to objects that can burn, such as upholstered furniture, clothing, mattresses or bedding? Nearly half (48%) of all home heating fires occur in the three winter months? January and February are normally the coldest. Since most home fires happen in the winter, it’s important to be careful with space heaters. It’s also important to make sure your smoke alarms are working. Here are a few things to remember: Keep items at least three-feet away from heating equipment, such as the furnace, fireplace, wood stove or portable space heater. Have a three-foot, kid-free zone around open fires and space heaters. Never use your oven to heat your home. Have a qualified professional install stationary space heating equipment, water heaters or central heating equipment according to the local codes and manufacturer’s instructions. Have heating equipment and chimneys cleaned and inspected every year by a qualified professional. Remember to turn portable heaters off when leaving the room or going to bed. Always plug space heaters into a wall electrical outlet. Never use an extension cord for space heaters. Always use the right kind of fuel, specified by the manufacturer, for fuel burning space heaters. When refueling kerosene heaters, be sure to move them outside to refill. Make sure the fireplace has a sturdy screen to stop sparks from flying into the room. Ashes should be cool before putting them in a metal container. Keep the container a safe distance away from your home. Test smoke alarms at least once a month. Here’s hoping you stay warm and safe this winter.

Another deal Derrin had made was with his love Shelby, he not only promised to marry her, but he had big dreams of buying them a house. If you knew Derrin, then you knew he always had a smile on his face that would light up a room in an instance!
