Liberty Through The Eyes Of Myra Gaddy So, Saturday was quality time with mama day. Our rst stop was at Happy Hills Animal Foundation, just outside of Liberty, dropping off $280 worth of pet food for those precious animals (who, by the way, are looking for furever homes) When we left, my mama asked "Where are we going now?" I replied that I didn't know, but I thought we might just hang out in Liberty for a while. Our next adventure was our rst visit to the Liberty Market Place, on the corner of N. Fayetteville St and E. Swannanoa Ave. WOW! They have such a wide variety of items, and such a friendly place. Sorry, I didn't get a business card, but Like and Follow them on Facebook (just make sure it's the Liberty Market Place IN Liberty) Next, we walked across the street to Carolyn's Lady's Clothing Store, that has been a staple in Liberty for decades. My mama got the cutest pair of capri pants; so many colors in them that all she has to do is change shirts, and she has her summer wardrobe. After that, we sauntered on down to Awesome Finds, where we both found some cute tops, and of course, I found a book. Awesome Finds will be closing permanently in a few months, so check it out soon! By this time, it was getting close to lunchtime, however, we also had plans to visit my sister for a little while, before heading back to Ramseur. AND, I knew my mama had big supper plans with her best friend Betty Mace (I got them Sir Pizza pizza, chef salads, and strawberry cheesecake). Well.......not wanting to ruin my mama's supper appetite, but still getting some sustenance......we headed on down to our rst visit to Liberty Kettle Corn Shop! Yummy! Becky has a wide variety of treats to choose from, not just kettle corn. WE got ice cream! I got Salted Caramel Banana's Foster, and mama got Black Cherry. Then, my mama got another treat to take home Now, you might ask yourself, "why is Myra posting all this stuff about places in Liberty? There is nothing to do in Liberty." Well, I beg to differ. We didn't have time to go to the Bargain Shop, Gracie's Veggie Box (not just veggies), Peggy Sue's Treasures Galore, General Liquidations, Diamond K Tack, Ezer Wellness. I am sure I am missing some neat places And, we could have had some great food at 766 Cafe', Muzzie's (Kidd's) Drive-In, Hurricane Jane's, Ya'll Come Back Cafe', Capri's, Maria's, Basil's Hibachi Express, or the Liberty Event Center, to name a few. Or we could have gotten one of those deliciously healthy smoothies at Spark Nutrition (formerly Hometown Nutrition) And little did I know that the Liberty Event Center had special Mother's Day events all weekend, including a Mother's Day luncheon all day on Sunday! The Event Center also has great dinners, as well as live entertainment, regularly. check them out on FB We could have checked out the upcoming attractions at the Liberty Showcase! celebrities), you have really missed out! What a gem to have in Liberty!

And of course, Hurricane Jane's has live entertainment, regularly We could have gotten some great exercise just walking around Liberty, as the town has sidewalks from one end of town to the other--safe walking !!! Or, we could have checked out Sapphire 24 Fitness; they are open 24/7, AND also have a variety of tness classes. We could have driven over to Freedom Park, and gotten a good walk in there, as well. OR, we could have strolled from the Kettle Corn Shop down to the Liberty Veterans Memorial and Gardens We could have also driven down the road just little out of town,, to Cut-N-Up Hair/Nail Salon, and Body Balance Therapeutic Massage, and gotten a hair cut , new nails, AND a therapeutic massage, all at the same place Let's not forget Liberty's amazing Public Library, and all the wonderful programs, for both adult and youth, AND your wonderful Parks and Recreation department I am envious There are so many places of worship in and around Liberty, and those places of worship offer great fellowship opportunities I almost forget one of the best kept secrets in Liberty! The Liberty location of Randolph Senior Adults! If you are a senior citizen, or know a senior citizen that would enjoy fellowship, great meals, fun activities, including painting/craft classes taught by folks like the Preppy Possum, and others, great community education/information programs, then check it out! And, you may even see me there, occasionally We did get to visit with my sister and brother-in-law, and it was de nitely a great visit

Randolph Communications Awards 8 Students with Scholarships
May 20, 2022 – Asheboro, NC – Randolph Communications selected eight local high school seniors to receive $8,000 in college scholarships. Randolph Communications’ General Scholarship Program is an investment in the future growth, development, and well-being of our member/subscriber families and the community. The recipients of these scholarships have active service and reside within Randolph Communications customer areas. “We are proud of all the recipients and how well they represent our community. Liberty American Legion Post 81 High School Awards The American Legion was established 103 years ago with a vision of enhancing and strengthening America though ac ons helping our young people with needed assistance. One of the four pillows of the American legion is children & Youth of our State & Na on. The Liberty American Legion Post 81 was honored to present a One -Thousand- dollar Scholarship to a Senior at Providence Grove High School – Kinley Elizabeth Ferguson who plans to a end NC State and study Environmental Science and the Senior at Eastern Randolph High School was Josie Goodson is going to Randolph Community College to study Nursing. We wish them the best in their studies and in their future careers. We also gave out The American Legion School Cer cates of School Awards & Medals. The Cer cate of Dis nguished Achievement was given to students in the Recogni on of the possession of those high quali es of Courage, Honor, Leadership, Patrio sm, Scholarship and Service which are necessary to the preserva on and protec on of the Fundamentals ins tu ons of our government and the advancement of society. Liberty Lions Club High School Scholarships The Liberty Lions Club gives Scholarships to Seniors that are furthering their educa on. The Liberty Lions Club gives a $500.00 Scholarship at Eastern Randolph High School and Providence Grove High School each year. The MOTTO of the Lions Club is “to serve.” Besides the vision screening at elementary school, helping purchase glasses locally, and suppor ng such programs as White Cane ( now called Brighter Vision), Camp Dogwood for the blind and Visually Impaired, and the VIP ( Visually Impaired Persons) Fishing Tournament in October in Manteo.
