Next door in #16 Bonlee Trading Post is busy preparing for their grand opening on Thursday, September 8th at 1pm. The old general store will sell fun candy from days gone by, peanuts in the shell, slices of hoop cheese and all kinds of goodies. The building itself whispers memories from days gone by remembered by so many of small town Bonlee. Many locals and from the surrounding community and surrounding coun8es have contributed handmade goods to sell. Some of the goods that will be on the shelves are handmade quilts, bears, po[ery, soap, jewelry, cups and key chains. One of the cutest items are crochet ou\its for babies! Consis8ng of hats and boo8es, sweaters and bloomers, these ou\its will certainly not last long! The talent is amazing and all right here in our small town!
Cra$er’s HeART Studio is known for its beau8ful ceramic Christmas trees! Folks have waited for the pumpkins in the fall and trees for the holiday since 2018! Originally opening in Robbins, NC Cra$er’s HeART moved home to Bonlee, just 30 minutes south of Liberty, in July 2020. Now housed in the old main street buildings, #14 to be exact, the studio is lined with handmade bricks made in 1910. Beau8ful wooden ceilings and hardwood floors are not even the most beau8ful thing. The an8que, highly sought-a$er Christmas trees are available year around, but line the tables from October to December!
Caroline’s Candy Bakery and Soda Shop will be opening just across the tracks. Hot dogs and scoop ice cream will certainly be a favorite. Coffee, tea and another beau8ful building filled with charm from years gone by. Bonlee is hustling and bustling and filled with great folks and fond memories. See you soon!
Cra$er’s HeART schedules classes as a first come first served basis. If you would like to schedule a class all you need to do is send a message on messenger to Cra$er’s HeART and the owner, Candace Beal will no8fy you and get you all set up! A calendar is available each month for prescheduled classes, but if no one signs up, no one will be there unless you register. Each Wednesday is Open Studio. On this day you can paint anything of your choice from 11:00 to 4, but you have to let them know you are coming.
In the coming months
Bonlee Trading Post will be open daily 10-7 and Sunday 2-6. A popsicle or a piece of candy will spark a memory that is sure to last a life 8me. A table has been set for the local re8rees to play a game of checkers, and the search is on for a large quil8ng frame so locals can gather to make some priceless memories! Gi$ wrap, gi$ baskets and special orders will also be available.

TheImprovementsTownof Ramseur recently received confirmation of more than $7 million in federal funding through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to support upgrades to its essential drinking water and wastewater infrastructure.
In addition to the drinking water AIA, the town also received $194,660 for an assessment of its wastewater system. The wastewater AIA will provide the Town with an accurate map of the sewer system and schedule maintenance based on manhole and line assessments.
A separate grant of $189,584 was also awarded for an Asset Inventory and Assessment, or AIA grant. That enables the town to record system features and create a comprehensive map of the water system with an evaluation element to gauge the condition of pipes and equipment

$6.8 million of the money comes from the state’s Drinking Water Viable Utility Reserve fund. That will pay for more than 27,500 linear feet of water lines and related fire hydrants and valves to be replaced as well as any associated repairs.
The ARPA funding is administered by the state's Department of Environmental Quality. Engineers with The Wooten Company, a civil engineering and architectural services firm with an office in Winston-Salem, assisted local staff with the successful applications.
Ramseur's water treatment plant went online in 1988. Since then, the town's population has grown by more than 23% and still trending upward. The drinking water AIA and system improvements project will help the town keep pace with the cost of system operation and maintenance.
Ramseur Awarded More than $7M in ARPA Funds for Water System
“These grants enable us to make not only near-term improvements to serve residents, but also to make sound plans for the future,” said Ramseur Mayor Vicki MoreCaudlethan
