The Emerging Artist has a Showcase... Introducing BAYCut ies Magazine
I am inspired . And I hope I can make that inspiration work for you. Because if you love to look at beautiful expression of thoughts, you have come to the right place . This magazine is something I wished someone would have published for a while , a place where lesser known artists’ works could be showcased side by side with the work of established ones. A place where mere mortals can go shoulder to shoulder with the Gods of Fashion and Photography. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and I love California. There are so many beautiful people here- amazing modelsl , actors, photographers, artists, dancers, and other experts in various visual arts. I look at their work in local websites and I look at their work in their personal porfolios. And I always wondered- how would that look on the pages of a high fashion magazine? All of us know that only a lucky select will ever get on the pages of Vogue , Vanity Fair or Marie Claire . But that has never stopped me from following my passion for fashion , and neither should it stop anyone else . I wanted my work published , and I wanted to see works of all the artists I admired published . So I am creating a canvas where emerging artists can be stars - Klasique .com. BAYCuties is a magazine based on the artists and their works showcased on Klasique .com. The content of this magazine is built solely on contributions from visual artists of all levels. They believe that their art needs to be showcased; their vision warrants public acclaim. Are you one of them? Send us an email today and we may certainly consider your contribution on the pages of BAYCuties. And if you are a connoisseur of beauty, fashion , and glamour, you have certainly come to the right place! Great things are ahead !

Modeling in t he Bay Area
BAYCUTIES June 2010
By Samantha M. Acord
My career started with my first photo shoot in March. Initially I viewed the shoot as a minor attempt on my part to get my name out and see who would pick me up. Little did I know that from that point I would be incessantly contacted more and more frequently to participate in fashion shows, group shoots, editorials, and promotional work. My sudden accomplishments amuse me simply for the fact that modeling is very competitive. The ratio of assignments and the number of models willing to do them is outrageously unbalanced. While ‘having the right look’ is an important factor in casting, most photographers view ‘having the right attitude’ as the more imperative asset. No model makes it if she has a big head.
Taquila Mockingbird A.K.A
I have finally found the perfect combination to keeping my life in check and in balance. But most importantly, I think I’ve found a way to create a happy life for myself.
Being introduced to the world of modeling has been a roller coaster of emotions. In the beginning it was so surprisingly effortless, and still is. Everything seems to come so natural to me. Scheduling photo shoots, networking, booking projects, arranging events, it was all second nature almost immediately.
I have already built myself a generous fan base exclusively on my attitude and composure. I’m often advised by photographers that I bring something unique to the table. I’m really starting to see that which I have never noticed in myself before. The uniqueness I bring is always the vulnerable side of me; ironically the side that I never wanted people to I have done a great deal for my career so far, but this see is the exact reason why I am progressing. industry isn’t always strictly business and contracts! I’ve noticed

BAYCUTIES June 2010
In June 2009 Brandon Hymes (now CEO of Vindication) and his lawyer friend Richard Aptaker were watching a UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) event. As they watched the fight and the multitude of fans wearing graphic tee’s from various MMA gear companies, they realized that all these tee’s looked the same. At that moment the two friends decided to create a brand of clothing that spoke not only to ‘Action Sports’ fans but also to people who just needed to wear clothing that reflected their inner personality. The result of their thought took shape as Vindication, which introduced styles that stand apart from regular MMA wear with art that speaks to you... New styles are coming from the Vindication arthouse on a regular basis... Check out ther latest styles at the website at http://www.vindicationonline.com In March, 2010 Vindication sponsored Bellator XIII fighters Bao Quach and Chad Hinton. Most of the readers of this magazine must be very familiar to Myspace and at one point of time most of us have had a myspace account... Myspace brought the concept of social networking and online friendship to the forefront of American society. Facebook by contrast on inception and for quite a few years after that was a college networking tool requiring at one point a .edu email address which made it impossible for non college students to create an account. But the past few years have seen quite a change in the fortunes and the popularity of these sites... Facebook last month surpassed Google as the most visited site in the world and has more than 400 Million active users, 50% of whom log in everyday. As of March 2010 ComScore data, Facebook traffic made up 41% of all traffic on a list of popular social destinations. MySpace was in second place, capturing about 24% of the traffic. Myspace has not reported their account stats in quite a long time now but as far as my friends are concerned many many of them went through a period of time where they (and I) had accounts on both Myspace and Facebook. But slowly many of them have either radically reduced their use of Myspace or have cancelled their accounts on the site. Is Myspace dying? The truth is it is not... Myspace has found new life in a demographic niche which has utilizes the inherent advantages. Myspace music has become the destination site for all musicians be it established bands or indie artists. Myspace video has also become the place where you can see exclusive clips, movie trailers, music videos and more exclusive content which is rarely found on YouTube or any other music or video site.
As per the latest comscore data Myspace is getting younger as Facebook gets older as far as demographic segments go. What does this mean from a perspective of business? Well Myspace is almost for sure attractive advertisers who are selling things to the younger generation of americans... movies and music production houses tend to find Myspace to be the place where they get maximum exposure. From a design and architecture perspective too, Myspace seems more suited for the music and video industry with special tools for bands and video built into the core of the site. Another demographic whic spends a lot of time on Myspace is models and photographers. Though most of us do have Facebook pages, but we mostly use myspace to show off our portfolios (outside of sites lime Modelmayhem and Onemodelplace) as the tolerance level of Myspace for risque imagery is way higher than in Facebook. One of my close model friend was just kicked off Facebook because they found her portfolio to be Adult. That however is changing too, as I see more and more risque pictures being allowed as Facebook tries to open up more and take on the current audience Myspace is catering too. In my opinion Myspace needs to take note of that and make sure that they protect their current territory if they want to continue to be a power to reckon with.

Phot ographer Profile Todd Schultz
BAYCUTIES June 2010
Todd Schultz is a pilot, entreprenuer, and automobile enthusiast. And yet he finds time to create his amazing pictures because of his love of pictures and beauty. His interest in photography has come from being around aviation his whole life, growing up and living in Lancaster, California and receiving his pilots licence while in high school. Currently he is a full time corporate pilot in Bakersfield and is developing a new private charter company in the Central California area. In his own words this is how he describes his love for pictures
‘ Aviation takes up just about all of my spare
time although I like to restore old cars and explore the outdoors and go hiking. My current project is a 1945 Studebaker Weasel. I had always looked at magazines and wondered what was behind the camera and how each photo was set up and shot. While in College I had plenty of time to experiment with my old Canon F1 shooting landscapes and all that stuff that doesn’t move around ‘
You can connect with Todd at: http://www.modelmayhem.com/493601 http://www.facebook.com/pages/Airspeed-Photo/179228702691 http://www.airspeedphoto.com/
‘
Eventually that became a little boring so I started to work my way into the modeling and portrait side of the business which led to the inevitable upgrade to digital. I still love to shoot film every once in awhile but the workflow is so much faster on digital... Currently I shoot weddings, models, and air to air work with airplanes. I like to create images that have depth, plenty of color, and are interesting to look at. The artistic side of things is what I really like, my focus is to create something really sexy yet make it capture your attention and make
you look! ‘

Dark Art of Jesse Alford
BAYCUTIES June 2010
I came across Jesse’s work quite by accident, as he does not do much advertising at all. While browsing Modelmayhem one evening, I noticed this stunning picture of a girl which led me down the path to discover his portfolio on Modelmayhem. Jesse is 21 years old and lives in Tracy, a sleepy little town around 70 Miles East of San Francisco. He says that photography is his drug and thankfully so, because he is too talented to be wasted on anything else. Jesse was inspired by his grandfather who was a photographer for the Lawrence Livermore Lab. His work fascinated Jesse who followed in his footsteps after he passed away when Jesse was very young. He felt photography bring him close to the memories of his beloved grandpa. When I asked him about his photographic ambitions here is what he had to say

‘I have always been into weird edgy photography, anything different and unique that stands out. After Last year, February Friday the thirteenth I ended up in ICU thanks to being at the wrong place at the wrong time. It was a horrible six months for me and still to this day I am dealing with issues from the incident. The only benefit from this being that my work has become more twisted, weird, dark, and different from photos you see on the daily. Somehow I am able to keep in the fun and or sexy look to the weird concepts I create. I am excited to see where photography leads me, I know I want to have photography as a life career… which path in the photography world I take I am still awaiting to find out, only time will tell. I have had the opportunity to work with a ton of talented models and others in the business. I hope the images we have created catch your eye enough to make you want to figure out what is going on. Each image I create I want it to be able to relate to everyone in a different way. Take in everything you see in each of my photos and make it what you want it to be’

Gadget Update So yet another iPad article... Yep, yet another iPad article... but this time from the perspective of a photographer and consumer. So I just recieved my iPad 3G - 64GB ($910 with tax) in the mail on Friday and of course went through the customary iPad unveiling ceremony with a bunch of my co-workers, it was fun but not as much fun as described in this hilarious video...
First thing I noticed...it was heavy, much heavier than I thought it would be. After 5 minutes of playing with it, I figured I needed some sort of cover/condom for it if I am going to stop it from slipping out of my hands anytime soon. So I headed out to the Apple store in my neighbourhood to go see if I can find the cover I wanted... And of course it was out of stock and needed to be ordered online and would take 4 weeks to be delivered.. and it would be $47.99 with shipping. One thing the Apple iPad has proved, it does not matter what it is... if its connected to Apple, people will buy it... and I guess I am one of those people because I shelled out another $40 for an Incase cover I will only use for a month till the one I want arrives... so the bill for this was $44 .

Price of Cool!
By Gautam Goswami
As soon as the meeting started, of course someone had forgotten to print out a slide show and they just decided to forward it to everyone present on their mail... I happily tapped away at my iPad and opened the mail only to see that the attachment was a Microsoft presentation that my iPad could not read... So at this point I had 3 choices... 1) Upload the document to Google and watch the distorted version using Google Docs OR 2) Buy an iPad app to read Microsoft Documents OR 3) Install a remote desktop client to just remote to my Windows desktop over wireless and get access to all my programs I decided on option 3 and decided to go with ‘Jump Desktop’ from Phase Five Systems. This application is the best iPad based RDC out there, no question. It connected to my laptop sitting in my office in a second and I was off and running opening up the presentation in 1024x768 resolution in 16Bit Color. This was cool purchase and got me productive on my iPad almost immediately. So the bill now stood at approx $1000 (the average cost of a very powerful windows laptop) and I am just about getting started. The day was redeemed by a call later in the evening with a prospect company who would like to deploy our technology thought the iPad to about a 1000 of their employees... Instant nirvana... I now felt much less guilty about dropping a grand on this toy... Or is it a toy... Really? I have to come to the realization that iPad is not a competitor to the Amazon Kindle, its in a league of its own... by the evening I had subscribed to MIAMI magazine, downloaded Financial Times, checking on my ACTUATE BIRT business reports and reading my first MARVEL comics in years... without even touching a laptop or anything printed. If this is not a revolution, I don’t know what is?
So Now I had the cover and I had the cover and I could safely take the precious little piece of computing art, out in the world. The main intention of buying the iPad for me was to make sure that I can manage the launch of my companies iPad based applications and content... and so I intend to use it at work. The next meeting that I was about to go to, I decided to only take my iPad along.
