BAYFashion June 2012

Featured Photographer Temira Decay the photographer behind Yellowbubbles photography answered our queries about her insipiration and passion. Belowe we quote her from our interview. “I’ve always had my hand in photography, but after finishing school, I ended up working as a graphic designer. Photography had to go to the back burner for a few years, but it was always something I felt I had to get back to. When my job circumstances finally permitted, I jumped in head first, upgraded my camera, and started frantically filling my portfolio with all the ideas that I had been wanting to do! I joined forces with my sister Amber who is a talented artist, costume, and jewelry designer. It really helps having that second brain to bounce ideas off of... and it doesn’t hurt that she can provide styling and wardrobe too. We are both a bit obsessive and are always brainstorming. We text and call each other constantly with new ideas. Although shooting in a studio can have it’s place, I feel the most inspired in typically non-beautiful locations that most people would overlook. I love places that are rundown with age, decayed or falling apart. My work mixes beauty and grit, with a dark edge. When coming up with new ideas, both of our interests combine and pull from classic art, Japanese animation, fairy tales, and music videos. I look forward to working with new designers and models all the while maintaining my creative freedom”

Summer 2012 Must Haves

Pointed

Toes

For a couple of seasons in a row rounded toes were on the top, but now we can finally enjoy the femininity of pointed shoes. Still, sandals and booties haven’t had pointy toes yet. Love them or not, pointed shoes are a must-have in this summer. Be on the street or the runway, pointed toes are making a statement In summer 2012 collection, designers are bringing back the 60s style with a vengeance. Think stilettos, booties, kitten heels with pointed fronts, sometimes in snazzy metallic and sometimes, muted suede. Combined with just one more trend “the floral print” pointed shoes look very delicate and can be worn to a variety of occasions, from a wedding ceremony to a romantic date. They make a woman’s foot look feminine and small, and they are perfect to complete any elegant and sophisticated look.

Neon Shoes

Women’s shoes are usually associated with the timeless colors of black and white brown and gray, or blue for every occasionnals and casual event. However, just add a little spice into your corporate fashion with some spirited hues like pastel tones, and also we see many women wearing bright neon pieces. And if neon garments can be a bit too much for you, then neon shoes are just right. Summer is ALL about brights!!!! When I mention brights, It means neon brights like banana yellow, shocking greens, neon red, bright pink and even color blocked versions too. To pull off the neon shoe trend, wear them with more subdued or neutral colors. Neon pairs great with black, nude, and white garments. Or you can choose other vibrant colors to mix and match with neon shoes, be careful to keep the balance.

Fashion Tips

How to Create Fashio

For BAYFashion Magazine readers who have not yet explored this site, the following are some basic steps to help get you started: 1. Go to www.pinterest.com. Request an invite in order to set up a user account. Once you have an account, you are ready to create one or more virtual pinboards – akin to idea or mood boards. Known simply as boards, they showcase your inspirations and aspirations related to fashion and perhaps other areas of interest, such as photography, interior design, art, and/or travel. 2. Search the Pinterest site to see how other like-minded users have set up their boards. I dedicate an hour each day (usually at night while half-watching television or listening to music) to this idea-mining activity. Have fun with it! 3. Name it. Claim it. I named my first board Couture Fashion. When I plugged

202

the Couture Fashion phrase into the search box, I discovered hundreds of images of wonderful creations by such celebrated designers as Alexander McQueen, Valentino, and Oscar de la Renta on other users’ boards throughout the Pinterest site. 4. Repin, repin, repin. Select the images that match your passions and aesthetic sense and repost them on your own board or boards. 5. Like, comment, link, and follow.Take advantage of the features that allow you to build and connect with a community of sympathetic aficionados. I linked my blog posts to Pinterest and have discovered many of my images on other fashion boards. 6. Pin, pin, pin your own images of things you love. The photo of your mother’s vintage Dior gown or your Parisian grandmother’s coveted Louis Vuitton purse will

appeal to others. Add a description of the image and include why you decided to add it to your board. Make sure you own the copyright or have permission to use the images that you post. 7. Move from the general to the specific. After I had accumulated over 100 images of Couture Fashions on my board, I began to create boards that featured fashion subcategories such as gowns, skirts, shoes, and accessories. I also created boards that displayed my favorite fabrics, embellishments, and wish list outfits for when I win the lottery. 8. Edit, edit, and edit again. You have the capability to edit the content and cover image of your boards. As I found more and more visually appealing images, I deleted those that were no longer consistent with my ever-evolving boards’ aesthetics. 9. Cherish your boards. They are things of

beauty - works of art that you, yourself, created. Use the boards as a catalyst for other creations and activities. 10. Welcome feedback and reply to users’ comments. Bridal boards are perfect ways to share gown selections with family and friends. Often other users will help you find the dress of your dreams deep in the Pinterest site. You can also get help assembling a wardrobe for upcoming events such as a job interview, opening night of the opera, or travel to an exotic land. I validate feedback in the Pinterest setting because I feel the users, by viewing my boards, have a good understanding of my fashion sense in terms of style, fabric, and color. It is as if they were looking into the clothes closet of my dreams. 11. Check out your boards on different mobile devices to see how they look in terms of scale and color.

DitaAVon Teese Vision in Pink Glitter

by Adrienne Glenn

The deep red light of the Boom Boom Room shines down on my rum and coke, and I marvel that the bartender says, “You are going to see Dita Von who?” The fact that people are unaware of the top burlesque performer of our century fascinates me. Is it a lost art form, or do we spend so much time shaming ourselves from open, tasteful sexuality that no one knows how to appreciate the age old art form of the strip tease?! The clock on my iphone nears 7:30 p.m. so we stretch our legs from our belly up location at the bar and make our windy way across the grand old San Francisco Geary Street to the doors of The Fillmore. Climbing the stairs and making our way to the main ballroom, I feel such a huge sense of adventure and thrill for the spectacle that is in store for us. The opportunity to see this transcendent beauty perform is the chance of a lifetime. After finding out I was the lucky 204

journalist to review this show, I spent many days in excited anticipation of being bombarded with the visual brilliance of tassels, femininity and sparkle.

We procure ourselves some bubbly beverages and make our way to the center of the grand ballroom to mingle with the other guests under stunning heavy chandeliers as we wait for the show to start. The mood of the room is set by large velvet curtains hanging on every wall; to our right a tall pink ‘Dita’ is projected onto the curtain. For those of you that are much like our bartender and know little of this icon, Dita has been performing burlesque shows since the early 1990s and has been dubbed a “Burlesque Superheroine” by Vanity Fair. This woman has managed to single- handedly bring the world of burlesque back to popularity and once again show us that sex doesn’t have to be hidden, but celebrated with artistic dazzle.

As the lights dim, I once again feel that tingle of anticipation, not in my pants as one would think being at burlesque show… but in my heart. I have been looking forward to this for months and now I can’t seem to hear anything else in my brain but the repetition of “Strip, Strip… Hooray!”, “Strip, Strip... Hooray!” Out of the curtain comes a terrifically suited, gender neutral character who is the typical sort of clever and truly comedic talent that directs one through a show such as this. MC Murray Hill, otherwise known as “Mister Showbiz” delights us with hilarity as well as extremely pertinent information in between acts. A hoot and a holler this dudette is. The velvet curtain rises and there stands Dita and all of her tuxedo’d glory. The best thing about the tuxedo is that we know we are about to see it come off, and get the tease of all teases, because behind her stands a very tall martini glass…

and we all know she is about to be in it! After removing the penguin suit to show an amazing corset designed by Mr. Pearl (who did all of her corsets in the show) she continued to remove pieces, shoes and stockings one by one to hoots of the frantic crowd as she removed each piece. Once in the glass she scantily sloshed to everyone’s delight! While we are, of course, all there to see Dita she is wonderful enough to share the stage with other performers and delight all of our senses in every way. This first assault to our senses comes from killer curves of Dirty Martini. Being a woman of substance myself, I am beyond pleased to see that in selecting performers for her show, Dita embraced all women and starts the show with curves that will stop men and women alike, dead in their tracks. Dirty can twirl a tassle like no other; only a woman with that much bountiful, beautiful abundance could show us twirltastic moves such as these. At the end of her showcase she so kindly demonstrated the “car wash” on Murray Hill’s face to the roar of the crowd. Next up Lada, clad in black rubber and a riding crop, terrifies and delights us to crashing cymbals; she personifies everything Russian and Red. Then comes a lovely robust woman by the name of Catherine D’Lish, wearing nothing but a g-string and pasties amazes us with an incredibly limber and athletic routine on a gigantic glittering spider web. Spectacular stuff people. A little more of Murray’s schtick about whether or not there is a schtick, and the curtain rises to a sight that makes me want to be Dita more than anything. From the pink glitter Christian Louboutin cowgirl boots to the pink glitter cowboy hat atop that raven mane and porcelain complexion, there is nothing I want more than to be in her skin at that moment. Not in the carve her up and crawl in kind of thing… but that is the kind of moment a girl dreams about from the time she tries her first red lipstick, to the days when she starts attempting a strut in her mother’s too big for her heels. Riding a pink glitter electric horse in sexy circles as pink glitter rains down on you is my idea of heaven. Truly. The show continues to excite with a terrific boytease by the French Monsieur Romeo to Selene Luna, a lovely little miniature tease, followed up by the sways and stamps of the afro-centric Perle Noir from New Orleans. 206

Dita ends the show in spectacular oriental fashion with her Opium Den number, where she ends with an erotically stimulating show of red gloved hands rubbing every inch of her porcelain skin through the curtain. The glitter the glamour, the sense of humor, and the gracefulness of every single piece of this show leaves the audience breathless for a few moments until the crowd goes insane and demands multiple bows and vocally gives praise over and over again. I don’t know Dita personally, but there was a moment there where I believe I saw strong emotion cross her face. Yes, Dita, we love everything about you... who you are, what you are doing to empower women of every shape, and spreading love and respect for each and every one of us alike. San Francisco loves you, and we absolutely can’t wait to have you back Ifyouwanttoknowmoreabout thisamazing siren visit her official site at: www.dita.net

Love Etc...

If

you’ve been to a supermarket lately, likely you noticed the magazine section, sometimes it’s at the checkout counter so you cannot miss it. Did you notice that over 80% of the covers of those magazines show images of women? Pictures and ideals of feminine beauty in fact are everywhere, on the sides of buses, on billboards, and certainly in television shows, movies, and advertising. There is a tacit acknowledgement of the power and beauty of women, their depth of emotion, and their mysterious alignment with the forces of nature. They embody a sexual mystique, and really most men are quite fascinated by them, to say nothing of the fact that every man (and woman) was brought into this world by one. Even as a slowly changing male-dominated culture is still in place, it is evident that women are the focus of much of the attention of society. Sure, there are GQ gentlemen and a variety of male celebrity heartthrobs, but the majority of images of beauty we see all around us depict women. Tastes vary greatly amongst men in terms of what they are attracted to in a woman. Here are five general categories of types of men, and what they like:

1. The Leg Man

Maybe you know one, he tends to like high-heel shoes, since they change the shape and walking style of a woman. When he notices her wearing a skirt or shorts, his eyes immediately are drawn to her legs, her stockings or socks, a certain shape of her calves, the curves of her thighs… some Leg Men like long legs, others like strong legs, or very thin legs. They might spend time in situations that increase their chances of seeing legs, such as at a tennis court, yoga studio, or nightclub. Studies have suggested that men who like large legs can be a bit shy, and prefer a more dominant type of woman, while those who like smaller legs are more socially dependent and outgoing. No matter which kinds of legs you have, if he is a Leg Man, he’s got his eye on yours.

5 Types of

Men

BAYFashion June 2012

Tastes vary greatly amongst men in terms of what they are attracted to in a woman. Here are five general categories of types of men, and what drives their instincts: 2. The Boob Man

For lack of a better term, you know what this fellow is noticing. You can usually tell this type because as you are speaking to him face to face, his eyes will soon wander... repeatedly. He thinks he’s being discreet, but in fact he’s terribly obvious and doesn’t realize that you’ve caught him every time. Some Boob Men like large breasts, which evolutionary studies have interpreted as a marker of a female’s fertility. Those men are frequently independent types, enjoy a lot of attention, and have “masculine” interests such as sports, according to two major research studies. One study also revealed that those who prefer smaller breasts tend to be more reserved and polite. Regardless, you will always know this guy, and feel free to remind him where your eyes are when you are conversing.

3. The Ass Man

These gentlemen are the easiest to spot. When you are seated together at a restaurant, whenever a woman walks by (and her buttocks are at eye level this way), he will invariably start turning his head as she passes. He almost seems to be fighting it, but unlike the Boob Man, makes little effort to conceal his fascination. He likes jeans, skirts, dresses… in fact, the Ass Man likes just about anything you wear. Even if he cannot see your particular shape, he will be happy to try and imagine it. There are wellknown studies about your hip-waist ratio as another marker of fertility, so if this kind of man is noticing those things, sex might be on his mind… not that Leg Men and Boob Men aren’t thinking that way too, they are… the Ass Man, however, has a more direct sexual impulse driving him. The next time you are at dinner, you can remind him about where his eyes ought to be kept… on you.

4. The Face Man

Perhaps we don’t traditionally think of the face as a sexual asset, but it certainly is, and many men indicate this is the first thing they notice and pay attention to, and everything else is secondary. They Photo: Shankha, Model: Ivellise Swift

appreciate your body of course, , but at least you know where their eyes will be most of the time. This man is easily seduced by a beautiful face, a smile, laugh, a certain shape of chin or bone structure. He may in fact not even care if you are wearing makeup or lipstick all of the time, he is simply in awe of your natural beauty. He might be a more talkative and personality-oriented individual, since so much of the interaction happens through the face and eyes. Nevertheless, he will be gazing often into yours.

5. The Personality Man

You weren’t expecting that, were you? After a bit of reading and asking around, I discovered that a very high number of men indicate that what is inside a woman is what they care about the most. They list traits like reliability, kindness, acceptance, confidence, humor… in fact it soon became clear that there are at least five types of Personality Man. No matter what you look like, this man wants to know you, who you are, underneath everything. He definitely likes all those other parts of you, too… but he wants most of all someone to relate with, no matter how you look… and, he likes to talk and listen. So in a world filled with Photoshopped images, sometimes impossible ideals of beauty, plastic surgery, and all forms of body modification, we can notice that what a man will be most attracted to about you, ultimately, is YOU. The first time he sees you he will look for those things he prefers, depending upon his type, but after that initial period of external fascination passes, it’s time to find out really who’s inside. No matter how well you fit his ideals physically, the real indicator of love will be revealed when he gets to know you underneath all of those things. Please, continue to wear those great outfits, and do all the things you do to demonstrate your best features,

but don’t forget that ultimately most of us really want to know your heart. 209

Although I am a seasoned traveler, I have fallen short in the area of managing my immediate environment inside the plane’s cabin and have noticed an associated between flying and succumbing to the flu. There are so many variables associated with air travel that I cannot control, but improvements in one or two areas have positively impacted the quality of my travel experience and continued good health following the trip.

Below are my healthy flying tips:

by Joan Currie

1. Disinfect your armrests, seatbelt buckle, and

tray table with bacterial wipes as soon as you are seated. Save some wipes for the restroom - especially the door handles..

2. As plane blankets are not reliably cleaned or al-

ways available, bring you own fleece blanket, cashmere shawl, hooded sweatshirt, or wool hat to keep warm. The cabin temperature varies widely from plane to plane and even at different spots on the same plane. Make sure to adjust the air nozzle located on the reading light-call panel overhead so that cold air is not blowing directly on you throughout the flight.

3. For hygienic reasons and comfort, bring your own pillow and/or neck rest. Inflatable models are widely available.

4. When the passenger beside you is coughing and sneezing, ask the flight attendant to move you to another seat.. If the plane is full, offer him tissues and a hygienic face mask. (I always pack several - if he will not wear it, I will.) 5. Keep hydrated. Purchase water or juice after

you go through security so that you can take sips at regular intervals and are not dependent on the frequency or offerings from the beverage cart.

6.

Pack your favorite healthy snacks such as power bars, trail mix, and dark chocolate and you will not be at the mercy of the in-flight food selections

7. Wear loose fitting clothing and shoes to promote good circulation. Remember to perform ankle and foot exercises and get up and walk around the cabin (if permitted) at regular intervals as a precaution against deep vein thrombosis 8. Bring an eye mask or wear sunglasses to help induce sleep.

9. Noise canceling headphones or earplugs may help with sleep and dissuade the passenger next to you from engaging in lengthy conversations.

10. Select relaxing music to play on your mobile device once the plane is in the air.

Burritt Room is a new swanky fine dining restaurant in Union Square (in the Mystic Hotel) that has racked up a loyal hip following in a few short months after opening. This newcomer might have flown under the radar if not for the prestigious pedigree of the proprietor: Charlie Palmer. He is the mastermind of Aureole in New York (Manhattan’s most sophisticated fine dining restaurant), STEAK in Las Vegas, (Voted best steakhouse in Las Vegas, to name a few...) San Francisco is privileged to have the new Charlie Palmer Burritt Room. When you walk up to the Mystic Hotel, you don’t expect much. There is a small entry way and what appears to be a very small hotel amongst the Giants in Union Square. However when you walk in the door; you know that you have landed into something very special. Modern touches needed to draw the hip crowd transform the classic building built after the 1906 Earthquake. You hear the sounds of fun as you come up the stairs into the Burritt Room. Live jazz by Grammy nominated musician Terry Disley just add to the crowds buzz. Go straight to the bar and you will be taken back by the selection of spe 212

cialty cocktails that only Burritt Room master mixologists can provide. (Basil Beach punch, Pineapple Arnold Palmer, Blueberry Mojito are some faves) One often expects that comparable to many boutique hotels in hip cities, all you will find is a restaurant attached that is equally visually appealing; but not high quality and delicious. Burrit Room is an exception to this boutique Hotel rule. The food is high quality and could stand on its own without needing the charming décor. Reminiscent of fine dining linked to the older history of San Francisco, Burritt Room offers Steak lovers a stellar take on selection of steaks for you (Shoulder shank steak and Filet mignon), as well as Oysters on ice, or fried cornmeal oysters will take you back. Yet they have the modern elements that current San Francisco foodies rave about such as fried brussel sprouts salad and rhubarb tarts.

If you need to retreat to the past you can hide away from the hipsters tweeting by requesting one of the 6 booths that has complete privacy covered by velvet curtains. You can order from their extensive local wine list that could hang on its own without the contemporary muddled organic drinks. Or if you want to parlay in the modern day swanky, cool vibe; hang out on a leather couch with your Basil Peach Punch with one of the Twitter Executives themselves. (Twitter just moved their offices about ten blocks away). Because everybody who is anybody in San Francisco will be here.

Aliya: Tell us something about Lauren the makeup artist. Lauren: I am an Artist before I am a makeup artist. I fell into this profession at a very young age. I was into fashion and makeup since my childhood. I guess I came out of the womb with lipstick and high heels on. I paint on canvas and draw a lot. Doing makeup comes naturally as it is just like painting except my canvas is a face. Most of my makeup work starts as an artwork before I bring it to life with a model in a photograph. I love what I do and I take it very seriously. I come from film days when we did not get to see the images for at least 24 hours. Everything needed to be perfect; even a wrinkle in a garment could ruin the image because there was no Photoshop option available. I do makeup today with that same mindset. I feel blessed for having all the people, projects and gorgeous images as a part of my life.

Aliya: How would you define makeup? Lauren: Makeup for me is art, paint, pencils, crayons and art supplies. Aliya:To you beauty is: Lauren: Beauty is in every color, smell, taste, sight, sound and touch, which gives you happiness, awakens your spirit and warms your heart. Aliya:Your source of inspiration: Lauren: Love, words, colors, music, people, beautiful view and even an old school bus can inspire.

I have been using it for over 20 years. Dior has spoiled me; I cannot use anything else. Aliya: Favorite tool: Lauren: My hands Aliya: Beauty tip for the readers: Lauren: Do not outline lips; fill them with a lip liner or lipstick and apply gloss to the center of the lower lip only. This will leave your lips with a pretty shine as though you have been sipping champagne all day. ook effortlessly chic with lustrous skin, soft curls, trendy hair accessories, oversized sunglasses, a cool hat and easy breezy robes. A beach-worthy body is hair- free, glowing and smooth with no bumps and flakiness. Sunkissed look during summers will always be in fashion when it comes to makeup. Brilliant sunshine, gleaming sand, cool ocean breeze and rhythmic waves; what else can be more serene than a warm summer day at the beach. This article is about how to make your beach experience even more fun and relaxing. First of all you have to protect yourself against UV radiation, which is a major cause of aging and skin cancers. Apply a waterproof sunblock on the face as well as body with at least SPF 30 or higher; reapply every couple of hours. For extra protection wear a big hat and good quality sunglasses. Your body should be in a perfect shape. You need to stick to a regular workout routine and a healthy diet plan for at least 2 to 3 months in advance, to rock your favorite swimsuit. Exfoliate your body and keep it well moisturized. You can use tanning lotion to get a nice bronzy tan. A beachworthy body is hair- free, glowing and smooth with no bumps and flakiness.

by Aliya Qazi As I always mention in my articles, read the product description and ingredients very carefully and do not use more than directed. If nothing helps see your doctor for allergies.

Sunkissed look during summers will always be in fashion when it comes to makeup. Makeup should be waterproof and preferably with SPF. Most cosmetic brands launch their summer collection every year. Eye shadow in aqua color looks great with pink lip stain. Lipstick in bronze or gold shade is another good option. You can replace foundation with sheer tinted moisturizer. Overall you need to look wellgroomed with nice eyebrow shape and no unwanted hair on your face.

Sun and salty water can be very harsh on your hair. Soak your hair with regular water before getting into the salty water so that hair does not absorb too much of salt. Use a hair product with SPF before going in the sun. Nourish hair after an entire day of sun exposure with an intense hydrating mask to replenish lost moisture. Wear a hat to protect both face as well as hair. Do not neglect hand and toes. Get a nice manicure and pedicure.Your feet get maximum attention at the beach in your cute pair of flip-flops. Apply nail polish in orange, hot pink, teal or any intense neon color to standout. Look effortlessly chic with lustrous skin, soft curls, trendy hair accessories, oversized sunglasses, a cool hat and easy breezy robes. You need a comforting beach towel and a waterproof beach bag to carry all this stuff. Enjoy a novel in your chair under the beach umbrella while sipping your favorite drink and listening to soft music. Keep yourself well hydrated and have healthy snacks to feel energetic all day. Save your memories with a disposable waterproof camera because you do not want to worry about your expensive camera at the beach. Have a calm and tranquil beach day when summer is in full bloom.

1. Sleigh Bells “Demons”

Wow, this is a huge banger! Sleigh Bells heavy guitar driven indie electronica track “Demons” is explosive energy. Their live show is known to cause a panic and with this new track in their arsenal they can’t go wrong! They also have a live video to accompany the track, which was co-directed by band member Derek Miller.

2. Bassnectar Featuring Amp Live 3. Aerosmith“Legendary Child” “Ugly” – Music Video San Francisco based DJ/Producer Lorin Ashton, better known by Bassnectar, has been serving up amazing Dubstep and Dark Electronica for year’s and his latest single & video from his newly released album, Vava Voom, is another heavy track with loads of ugly bass and the David Dutton directed video, rocks with loads of ugly and twisted things to watch! Enjoy! or dance too!

After feuds and musical direction battles, the rock legends are back with their 1st new album in eight years and this new single kicks ass. Heavy guitars from Joe Perry mixed with Steven Tyler’s gritty vocals takes, us back to their original sound. Tyler’s appearance on American Idol has helped bring a lot of attention back and the band recently played Idol’s finale show.

4. Florence And The Machine “Breathe Of Life” – Music Video

The queen of towering moody vocals meets the queen of evil, in the new Snow White movie, which is where Flo got her inspiration for this gothic new gem, also featured on the soundtrack. The video shows Flo mixed in with amazing footage from the movie. After hearing and watching the video, I’m excited to see the movie!

5. Lana Del Rey featuring Azealia Banks “Blue Jeans” - Smims & Belle remix

New York singer songwriter, Lana Del Rey has been hit or miss since her debut & the original for this song was not bad, but this club remix featuring hip hop’s exciting new star Azealia Banks is hot! An interesting mash-up of music styles that works out better then the original!

Summer is here and that means big summer tours, festivals, lots of bikini’s and sunshine and of course lots of new music. 2012’s Billboard Music Awards took place again in Las Vegas and big winners Adele and LMFAO took home 12 and 6 awards respectively. So, what happened to Electronic music acts and DJ’s besides party group LMFAO? Oh well, they will catch on next year hopefully! In other music news, this month we’ve lost several legendary music icons. Hip Hop legends the Beastie Boys member, Adam Youch, better known as MCA, passed away at 47, losing his battle to throat cancer. The Beastie Boys were just inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. Also, two more legends recently passed, the Bee Gees Robin Gibb and also one of disco’s brightest stars Donna Summer. All of them will be missed, as their musical legacies live on. Adam lambert scores his first number one album on the Billboard top 200 charts with “Trespassing.” This month also expect to see new albums by Linkin Park, Fiona Apple, Metric, The Smashing Pumpkins, Maroon 5, Hot Chip and more. In the news, Pyramind San Francisco, which specializes in music training and studios, just went global with its new online music training classes catered towards DJ & electronic artists featuring classes for Ableton, Reason and so much more and early birds, get free signups right now, go to Pyramindonline.com. In event news, Livenation’s 1st Dance music festival in San Francisco got cancelled at AT&T Park and was moved to the Shoreline Amphitheatre because of poor ticket sales, which upset many EDM fans and artists. San Francisco’s Live 105 radio’s BFD event had one of its best year’s with headliners, Jane Addiction, as well as Garbage, Neon Trees, Fun, Seeking Empire and the dance stage featured, Knife Party, Dragonette, Limousines and more. Electric Daisy Carnival, Vegas sold-out with over 300K dance fans converging on Las Vegas for 3 days of EDM, and reaffirming once again the mainstream appeal of EDM in the US. Next month will be my Official summer edition and more. Remember to stay inspired & breathe some music into your soul daily! Sason Bishope Parry

6. Kaskade featuring Skylar Gray “Room For Happiness” – Music Video

7. Queen - Lance Herbstrong remix

“Dragon Attack” – Music Video

Legendary band Queen got a nice boost of their hit, “Dragon Attack”, by Austin’s kings of classic rock remixes! The DJ group really put their teeth into this track and the result is a bass bang’n, big beat groove that from the moment it kicks in, it grabs you by your ears and never lets go! The video shows hot chicks on their way to an all girl fight club and really works with the track. I love these guys!

8. Metric

“Speed The Collapse”

The Canadian Rocker’s new single from their upcoming new album Synthetica, is a pleasant surprise and probably the sound they’ve been looking to achieve for a while, with bang’n drums, big Radiohead layered guitars, airy synth’s and a big hook that will stick in your heads.

9. Kerli “Zero Gravity”

– Music Video

Kerli, is an Estonian Dance music artist, who has been doing music since her teens. This single is one of her latest and it’s a nice track that grooves with her huge angelic vocals. The video shows her floating through air like a Barbie doll fairy with a gothic rave style. She calls her fans Moon Children, she looks like Alice in wonderland in outerspace and her voice is from another planet, need I say more!

10. MS MR “Hurricane”

Loving this track by this NYC duo, with their cool electronic R&B style. On this track MS gives you a peak at the inner-workings of her mind as she sings with a beautiful dark vocal backed up by sexy strings and deconstructed beats that make you feel like your lost in an apocalyptic urban jungle. They are one to look out for!

SBP Music Column

One of the best tracks from superstar DJ Kaskades “Fire & Ice” album and an amazing video to match, featuring the extremely talented Skylar Grey on vocals. The track is an edgy electro house track that has a nice dark undertone about making room for happiness.

DEATH VALLEY HIGH “Multiply” - Music Video

San Francisco’s, doom pop rock band, Death Valley High scored big with this amazing song and video from their last album “Doom”, released in summer of 2011 and it recently popped up in our playlist, so thought we would share this amazing bands cool sound. Their music could awaken the dead with its brand of Doom Rock and this catchy tune really works with crunchy guitars, awesome melody and Reyka Osborne’s, Deftone’s style vocals. The video shows them playing a local club with fans head bang’n along to a great song!
