Activities and experiences for young and old
The Kleinwalsertal valley is a habitat for sensitive alpine wildlife and plants that are worthy of protection. For this reason, it has committed itself to the initiative "Experience nature consciously". As the saying goes: the more you know about nature, the more intensively you experience it and also advocate for its protection.
In summer, the opportunities for exploring this special, natural area through learning are manifold: For a real nature adventure, families can embark on a discovery tour themselves. Freedom and nature, adventure and wilderness - experience all this with the “Burmi's Adventure Holidays" programme for families. During the holidays, a different activity awaits you each day that either focuses on the fun of movement or awakens the spirit of exploration.

Kleinwalsertal
Streams and forests, high moors and alpine meadows with impressive biodiversity form the backdrop for unforgettable summer experiences.
His name comes from "Burmenta", which is what the marmot is called in Walser dialect. Unlike his fellow species, Burmi does not hibernate and is the mascot for a varied family holiday in summer and winter.
Puzzle fun with Burmi
Discover Burmi's adventure land and solve tricky questions. The Burmi puzzle involves exploring the surroundings and solving exciting tasks.
The puzzles are available at the tourist office in the Walserhaus in Hirschegg. Those who have solved all the tasks can pick up a small surprise at the tourist office.
Burmi the marmot is undoubtedly one of the best-known inhabitants of the Kleinwalsertal valley.
During the holiday periods from May to November, another programme is offered that is guaranteed to be a hit. A climbing adventure, via ferrata taster course, zipwire, wilderness day or an expedition for young explorers with a nature guide - these are just some of the highlights. With a bit of luck, Burmi himself will even be in on the action.
On the natural climbing wall, secured by the professionals of the mountain school, you will learn to trust your own abilities and feel your way to your own limits while balancing, climbing and abseiling vertically.
The big mountain adventure promises butterflies in the stomach and an extra dose of adrenaline: warm up on the climbing wall, cross the stream on the rope bridge, zip wire through the gorge of the Schwarzwasserbach stream and abseil from a height of 40 metres. Available as an experience for children only or as a joint adventure for the whole family.
What do kids love doing? Lighting fires without matches, carving bows and arrows, practising stalking techniques, reading tracks and eating stick bread. On "Wilderness Day", it’s not just the smell of campfires, but also a whiff of adventure in the air. Accompanied by a wilderness guide, head off into nature and perhaps the most beautiful adventure playground of them all.
Paws on it – explorers, nature lovers and mountain enthusiasts will get their money's worth here.
Here you will find a variety of activities that will delight connoisseurs as much as sporty mountaineers, via ferrata enthusiasts and families. The trail network with 185 km of natural, marked hiking trails is spread over three altitudes between 1,086 and 2,533 m and leads past more than 40 cosy huts, alpine pastures and mountain restaurants.
You can start walking directly from the accommodation or hotel door and explore the extensive hiking area. In addition, there is the Walserbus, which can be used free of charge with the Allgäu Walser Card. The ascent is made easier by eight cable cars and chairlifts.
It's a great feeling when you flip through the pages of the hiking pass at the end of your holiday and look back at the various tours you’ve done. Those who collect points, naturally also earn one of the popular hiking pins - from the bronze pin for 50 points to the Alpine Emperor for 5,000 points.
The hiking pass is available from the Tourist Information Office in Hirschegg for € 3.00. For each tour, enter the points manually or use the stamps from the huts. At the end of the holiday, the points are counted and you will receive the "hiked" pin at the tourist office.
that are fun for the whole family.
Walserhaus or Kanzelwandbahn
With nine play and activity stations, it's not just the youngsters who get a taste for balancing, climbing and trying things out. The waterfront walkway also invites you to linger, play by the water or take a break at the barbecue area.
Burmi water on the Kanzelwand
Kanzelwandbahn cable car
Varied play stations with water wheels and sluices line the route from the mountain station to Riezler Alpsee. Here, children can experiment with water to their heart's content.
Discover Berti's worlds of adventure and complete your treasure map on the Nebelhorn, Söllereck and Kanzelwand. The card can be purchased at all mountain cable car ticket offices.
Söllereckbahn cable car
Adventure playground with XXL-SölliExpress, climbing wall, tube slide and wooden ball tracks. The SölliBully, a wooden snow groomer in XXL format, is a fun play and climbing frame.
"Mission X" or "The old village" take you to exciting places and sites around Hirschegg and Mittelberg. Numerous puzzle questions and tasks make the path a little adventure. The app Download "Actionbound" is free of charge in advance, the QR code for the start is available at the tourist office in the Walserhaus in Hirschegg.

What is a permaculture garden?
It's humming and buzzing in Andi Haller's garden kingdom. Many colourful plants grow in criss-cross fashion over an area spanning 10,000 square metres. There is a system behind the seemingly uncontrolled growth: The garden is based on natural cycles in the sense of permaculture. It's exciting to see everything that grows during the short Walser gardening season at an altitude of 1,200 m.

Waterfront trails are always a good idea. They offer plenty of variety for youngsters and people of all ages enjoy the beneficial effects of water. On some paths, you can also marvel at the fascinating interplay between rocks and water.
Along the Breitach, the main river in Kleinwalsertal, you can hike the entire valley from the Walserschanze to Baad. There are multiple opportunities to go down to the river bed to build dams or cool off on hot days.
A unique nature experience: The Breitachklamm is the deepest rock gorge in Central Europe. A visit is worthwhile in summer, winter and in almost any weather to experience the forces of nature in a different light. Different routes are possible. More information at www.breitachklamm.com.
Schröflesäge
Species-rich moors, waterfalls and natural spectacles such as the water-filled holes can be found along the Schwarzwasserbach river. Of course, there are also plenty of opportunities to play in the water.
Climbing wall
In the Schwarzwassertal valley, the water has carved its own path through rock and stone. The special thing about the Schwarzwasserbach: it flows above and below ground. A special highlight are the "Kessellöcher" (water-filled holes), ancient erosions in the stream bed where the wild water has formed swirl holes and basins. Depending on the season and precipitation, this part of the stream down to the Naturbrücke bridge dries up completely at times. On such days, you won't see the mass of water in the water-filled holes, but the traces that the water has carved into the rocks can be seen particularly clearly.
Sportplatz Au
The Naturbrücke bridge is probably the most admired natural wonder along the Schwarzwasserbach. Due to subversion, it has remained as a bridge arch measuring 5 m which spans the bed of the stream. The large swirl holes about 40 m further up the course of the stream, created by the Schwarzwasserbach over thousands of years, are also worth seeing.
