THE HYDROPOLIS CITY Natural Infrastructure for Water , Istanbul

Please Have An Over View For All The Thesis 8 http://issuu.com/klodzz/docs/klood_thesis

Master Thesis , Politecnico Di Milano , 2014

Istanbul is a great city with a big

history , but always great cities have been and still the main spot for local/ global immigration, that’s make any great city with history as a dense city with sprawl urban growth, expansion infrastructure, government and economic base. Istanbul lives all this from before and still until now, during the city expanded in the last few years the third bridge proposal has been released to be constructed by the government. Each proposal about the city infrastructure/ urban developments has reasons to be needed and approved in the end, but it’s also going to have sequences. These sequences might lead the city to a global threats. However, the threats can be always addressed, can be always Reluctant and the city can be always resist and reserved. This research displays the implications of expanding the city against its nature, investigating the threats that Istanbul is going to face because of the third bridge, investigates about nature issues in Istanbul like water scarcity and ecological environment, discovering the value of the valleys and investigate the role of the water infrastructures, the diffusion of the water in Istanbul, the treatment and the water accessibility. The project proposes new natural infrastructure for fresh water in Istanbul, highlight nodes in Istanbul for enviro ment development and creating a new Eco zone around the bridge.

Synthesis Strategy Map

The water infrastructure system Will be provided by the rainfall Water . the system will also save Istanbul from the risk of raising The sea where the water can Distribute into the infrastructure Stytem. The new water infrastructure Which the project propose also Work for the idea to create a Border or barrier for urban Sprawl and helping the other Strategy in the project to create A presecved ecological area.

THE BRIDGE AS ECOLOGICAL CORRIDOR Around the bridge the municipality of istanbul highlight some Area which face some issue Related to the environment. Different issues like ecological Farming , Rural Localities Rink, Ecological tourism and Critical Area in Terms of Environmental Sustainability . The project will focus in propose Ideas for those points can help The environment and other issue have been highlighted and trying to create a system of connection between the points , this sytem can be an ecological corridors create in between areas which need to be preserved.

AFFORESTATION SYSTEM TO REHABILITATE THE LAND In this project the Bridge is not Artificial element Was place in the Nature field , but the project is taking the bridge as a land of developments toward sustianbaility , ecologica system and better environment .

AFFORESTATION SYSTEM

Planting trees in the Area is to rehabilitate the project area , to save the Biodiversity, to create Better environment and to save the Climate zone in Istanbul .

THE HYDROPOLIS CITY

SECTION FOR THE NEW WATER INFRASTRUCTURE

The challenges of water in Istanbul city led the project by itself to the concept of the hydropolis city , Polis is a word means the city state in ancient Greece, especially as considered in its ideal form for philosophical purposes , and hydro is related to the water .

16

Istanbul can be an ideal city with a new vision of water system can save the city from water crisis ,can make all the environment better and sustain its life cycle . The project seeks to a model for urban hydrology based on natural systems. This Hydropolis model seeks a ‘source’ solution to problems rather than a ‘sink’ approach.

The hydropolis approach to water sustainability is taking a more holistic view of water management considering not just environmental and flooding but also rainwater harvesting and grey water reuse and using the drainage and flood water as a resource .

Using the water energy mitigational so for saving the fish’s life cycle helpnot only the environment but alsohelps us by saving a food source .

The bridge as a land: the strategy deal with the bridge as a land of development toward the environment by creating a protective zone around the bridge to treat the environment, using air purification devices, and water purification by trees .

SECTION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT POINTS

Sustain the ecological life: the infrastructure in the any city causes in ending the ecological life but if we considered the infrastructure as an ecological corridor that’s can change the concept of the infrastructure in the city.

Politecnico Di Milano , 2013

The design in TENERIFE has called from one side , to an integrated requalification of the area from a physical , social and cultural point of view ( requalification of the systems of construction of the open spaces and of the network of the relation with the global landscape of the island ), according to different strategic decisions , and on the other hand to a local redefinition of the site , towards the construction of a new multifunctional building with relevant dimensions and characteristic in provision of future developments of the research , capable to improve and stress the responsibility in the energetic and ambient sector

The museum site near the sea that’s to integrate the view and at the same time to create a public space . The main idea of this museum is to create an open building to the sky using the power of the wind in Tenerife to produce energy for the building through a devices .

TECHNOLOGICAL MUSEUM

The ‘Blow Wall ,URBAN WIND-VIBRO-POWER SCREEN is designed - to decrease the wind tunnel effect and to create a semi enclosed microclimate and harvest the energy through the use of vibrating objects embedded within the series structural components.

BIOCLIMATIC HOUSES

THE IDEA IS TO DESIGN WALLS OUTSIDE THE HOUSE IN SPECIFIC ANGLES , EACH WALL PROTECTS THE HOUSE FROM THE SUN RAY AND REFLECT A SHAPE TO THE HOUSE . THE OPENINGS IN EACH HOUSE DESIGNED IN THE WAY THAT MAKE THE AIR FLOW INSIDE THE HOUSE . EACH HOUSE IS DESIGNED DIFFERENTLY FROM THE OTHER , DIFFERENT SHAPE AND ALSO DIFFERENT DIRECTION. SOLAR PANELS SITTING ON EACH ROOF . THE ROOF DESIGNED AS A GREEN ROOF BUT NOT ALL THE SEASONS IN ORDER TO HAVE NATURAL IRRIGATION .

Social Housing in Piacenza starting from the project site : we wanted to make the site as new puplic space where people are gathring , at the same time the site is contination of the historical wall of piacenza which will make it important , also we came with the idea of bringing the green spaces of the city inside the project. the social housing : beside thinking about how flats should be comfortable and have best ventilation natural system , we also thought of creating another public/private space , this space will work mainly for the flats of social housing inhabitant .
