The international multi-service provider, Klüh Service Management, has grown once again over the last year.

Turnover rose from 650.8 M to 658.5 M euros despite the company’s deliberate retreat from Greece and its split from the Duisburg-based company Union Technik. The number of employees was up on the previous year from 42,789 to 43,262.

The privately owned company from Düsseldorf took on a whole range of outstanding orders during the fiscal year of 2013. The company also won a three-year contract for the second time to clean the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

Burj Khalifa, 800 meters tall, is the highest building in the world. The company was also appointed to run all security services at the ECB in Frankfurt.

2012 was outstripped by last year’s turnover of 35.76 M euros. Moreover, the clinic service from Klüh’s subsidiary, Wuhan Tongji Property Management, was rated second in China.

In Germany, Klüh’s turnover increased by 20 M euros from 453.48 M euros to 473.00 M euros. Foreign turnover saw a total decrease from 197.31 to 185.53 M euros. As a result of the euro and bank crisis, turnover in Spain fell by more than 6 M euros to 35.36 M and dropped by more than 10 M euros to 19.14 M in Greece.

In Germany’s neighbouring country, the Netherlands, the curve is also rising steadily. Turnover has risen from 9.53 M to 11.5 M euros. This growth is mainly thanks to new contracts.

RWE: Klüh is strategic partner

By revenue and market capitalisation, BASF SE is the world’s largest chemical company and employs around 112,000 staff in more than 80 countries. The company has a turnover of 73.9 billion Euros (2013).

With a turnover of 54.07 billion Euros (2013), RWE is the second largest energy supplier in Germany. This year, the company honoured Klüh as a “Strategic Supplier”.

The headquarters of BASF is in Ludwigshafen in the German RhinelandPalatinate. The company has now honoured Klüh Service Management for top performance in facility management for the second time.

Largest chemical complex With more than 70 employees, Klüh is responsible for the maintenance and glass cleaning on the ten km2 company premises with 2,000 buildings which compose the largest integrated chemical complex worldwide.

The Klüh team is also responsible for a range of other services. For example, BASF Events with up to 20,000 visitors are supported outside the factory premises.

“For us, Klüh is one of the suppliers that are particularly significant and strategically important because of their delivery or performance” says Dr. Ulrich Piepel (picture), Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) and thus head of the Central Purchasing for the electricity giant RWE. The Group has now awarded Klüh Cleaning the title of “Strategic Supplier”.

Piepel: “Despite constant new tenders, Klüh Cleaning has been the only service provider for cleaning at many locations for several years.”

Klüh belongs to 400 of in total 14,000 suppliers that are considered ‘strategically important’.

Klüh at World Airport N° 1 Catering for Commerzbank thirty months. Since April 1 2014, sixty-six more employees have been employed in the area of maintenance - a contract with a term of thirty-three months. The contract for gardening works, for which six employees have also been responsible since 1 April 2014, has the same term.

The contracts amount to an annual volume of more than three million Euros.

About DWC This year, alongside the spectacular extension of the cleaning order for the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the Klüh subsidiary Berkeley Services in the United Arab Emirates achieved another major order: Berkeley has been commissioned with cleaning, maintenance and garden works at the Dubai World Central Airport, which is currently under construction. With this, a Klüh company is now also represented in future at the world’s largest airport.

On August 1, 2013, Berkeley Service had already taken on the cleaning service at DWC with 127 employees.

Dubai is a vital connection point between East and West. DWC further cements Dubai’s leading position as a logistics and trade hub. It takes advantage of Jebel Ali Port (the largest container port between Singapore and Rotterdam) and seamlessly connects it to Al Maktoum International Airport through the dedicated Dubai Logistics Corridor. This forms a single custom-bonded zone, reducing time on the ground and accelerating the flow of sea-to-air/ air-to-sea cargo. With direct access to the major trans-emirate road networks, Dubai World Central is a true multimodal logistics platform providing unprecedented levels of connectivity, speed and efficiency.

Major order for Klüh Catering: Commerzbank commissioned the company with catering services for the headquarters of the major German bank in Frankfurt. The three-year contract includes an annual volume of around nine million Euros!

Klüh Catering now caters for the nearly 14,000 employees of Commerzbank in Frankfurt – in the old and the new high-rise and other buildings belonging to the bank. Klüh Catering won the bid against the previous operators Eurest and KTC. Catering manager Peter Waldecker:

Our team won the tender through dedicated performance after a prequalification which went on for five weeks. „ After the presentation appointments at all the facilities tendered and award discussions, Commerzbank already officially decided on Klüh in late 2013.

On April 1 Klüh took over production in the German financial capital on the river Main.

Since then, Klüh Catering has provided more than 4,500 main meals and nearly 6,000 snacks on a daily basis.

To carry out the work on board the aircraft, the logistical expertise of Klüh Airport Service is also required. For the provision of the aeroplanes with supplies, up to 40 pallets of on-board materials need aircraft-specific commissioning every week. Alongside the classic toilet materials, headphones, pillows, blankets and hygiene kits for the seat provisions and beds for the crews are prepared.

New customer: German Wings In Berlin too, the Airport Service has gained an important client: Germanwings (4U), a subsidiary of Lufthansa. The airline will carry out approximately 17,000 aircraft movements annually. For this, the airline requires a reliable cleaning crew – that of Klüh Airport Service.

In Frankfurt, as of September 1, the Airport Service is to serve the Emirates Airline’s Airbus A380, which flies once a day from Frankfurt. The contract for the cleaning of this aircraft alone represents an annual turnover of more than € 300,000.

Klüh foundation honors dedicated doctor The surgeon, who has already received the Federal Cross of Merit for her achievements, has been working for more than fifteen years for children suffering from conditions which were formerly referred to disparagingly as “harelip” or “fishing tongs”.

The award of the Klüh Foundation, which includes prize money of 25,000 euros, is intended to support the surgeon’s research into the “intrauterine and postnatal growth pattern of the jaw in children with Pierre Robin sequence (PRS)”.

The award was presented on the premises of Commerzbank, Berlin. The presenter of the award and host at Commerzbank was Klaus-Peter Müller, Chairman of the Board of Commerzbank AG.

Most children affected need surgery in the first 24 months of life. Dr. Schmidt operates 60 to 100 newborns each year and carries out the necessary corrective surgery on more than 200 other children.

Despite strong competition, Berkeley Services based in Dubai was again awarded the contract in the re-tendering of the Burj Khalifa cleaning order last year. 200 employees deal with cleaning tasks around the clock in the 800-metre-high building.

The order is the largest that can be awarded in the Emirates.

Klüh N° 2 in China’s clinic Klüh Turkey: Partnership market: Award for Wuhan with RGM and new orders Klüh Türkiye has formed a partnership with the prestigious facility management company RGM in order to provide integrated services together.

The companies already work together in the Piri Reis University in Istanbul. While RGM is responsible for facility management and building services, Klüh Türkiye is responsible for the areas of cleaning, pest control and gardening services.
