The DWC airport has been open for passenger flights since 2013. When construction work is completed, and that is expected to be by 2020, DWC will be the largest airport in the world. A large business park is being created around the airport, with huge potential both now and especially in the future for the Klüh subsidiary Berkeley Services. The region is one of the development areas with the biggest business opportunities in Dubai and the entire United Arab Emirates, and in this way is unique in the world. Staff dialogue at the Union Hospital Beijing
Awkward patients, caring bosses – workers talk about their daily routine
Klüh‘s Chinese companies Tongji and Pujing operate in over 100 hospitals, making them the highest-profile services providers with expertise in clinical hygiene. The clinics they take care of include the renowned Tongji Hospital (4,000 beds) and Union Hospital (4,600 beds) in Wuhan, and the Union Hospital in Beijing. To promote mutual understanding and collaboration, there has just been an event in which Klüh staff in Beijing reported on their daily routine.
tion. We have to know how various cleaning products work, learn to use cleaning equipment and machines, become familiar with different surface materials, because only like that can we look after floors. I‘m proud to say that I‘m an all-rounder - waxing, polishing, wiping, cleaning glass, I can do all that easily. As there are more and more new technologies and new materials these days, I have to learn all the time, constantly striving to acquire even more skills.
During the staff event at Union Hospital, Uwe Gossmann, Director Klüh International, was also on hand as an interlocutor. Gossmann: „The idea was to give our client a feeling of the issues and problems our staff have to deal with and what an important role they play.“
He admitted he has had to do a lot of overtime, but was always „available for work at any time.“
Shouting and ranting Patient carer He Ying described a typical experience like this: „There was a patient complaining very loudly because she had severe problems the last time she registered. She was shouting and ranting because she was unable to register the last time. She said we weren‘t human beings, the doctors didn‘t care.“ He looked after the patient, who lost control again and hit out, so security had to be called. It was only with a lot of patience and tact, the patient carer said,
Klüh Managing Director Uwe Gossmann (2nd from right) and Chinese personnel that they managed to calm the patient down.
to the conclusion: „As patient carers we have espoused the concept of being friendly, putting on a nice smile, being polite to others and following rules and regulations. That‘s how we create a nice and friendly atmosphere in the hospital.“
Patient carer Deng Xiaoli works at the Surgical Ward reception and last year was twice voted Employee of the Month. Every day she issues about 300 access passes and discharges 100 patients, some of whom she accompanies. The young woman says: „Every day we say „Hello“, „Goodbye“, „You‘re welcome“ or something similar hundreds of times.“
Klüh employee Wang Genlai is a cleaner on the Surgical Ward and admits: „The cleaner‘s work is underestimated by many. Cleaning is technical, not just physical work. It‘s not simply a case of cleaning floors or dusting, it also calls for specific knowledge of cleaning methods and their applica-

Wang Genlai showed what was important from an employee‘s viewpoint. In a special task – water had penetrated a parking level – his boss insisted that the staff put on dry clothes. Wang Genlai: „We were very touched by that. When you work here you feel safe and sound, like at home.“ Klüh is highly regarded in China. For instance, the province of Hubei (population: 58 million) contracted the company to draw up and implement hygiene standards for all hospitals throughout the province. In a nationwide ranking of companies in the hospital sector, the hospital division of Klüh‘s subsidiary even came second of all companies considered!

as a low-cost airline. The concept took off: today the airline employs more than 8,000 men and women, and its fleet of over 200 Airbus planes flies in excess of 60 million passengers a year. easyJet connects Amsterdam with 15 European destinations, offering almost 40 flights from Amsterdam a day. The carrier is the market leader at Schiphol. The contract with easyJet was already signed in spring 2014. Recently Klüh became the first company to use an electric vehicle for aircraft cleaning at Schiphol. Klüh NL boss Paschal Connolly had seen a vehicle resembling an eight-seater golf cart being used at Houston Airport to transport passengers. Connolly had the vehicle adapted by the manufacturer, seats taken out, a cleaning product container installed, and now uses the vehicle on the apron.

The list of airlines that contract Klüh has now been extended again – by the world-famous carrier Cathay Pacific Airways and easyJet, one of the leading European airlines.
Cathay Pacific has been on the client list since October 2014. The carrier decided to work together with Klüh on the basis of excellent experiences collaborating in Germany and its reputation in Amsterdam. Last year Cathay Pacific received the Skytrax “World’s Best Airline” award.

Klüh Rus has been contracted to clean two building complexes at Domodedovo Airport. They are two terminals used to service cargo aircraft. The contract has been effective since 1 December last year. The 23 employees there clean a total area of 27,000 m². The plan is to extend the contract. Domodedovo Airport is Russia’s largest aviation hub. In 2014, the airport handled 33.04 million passengers. There is another contract for Pulkovo Airport. It contracted Klüh Rus to clean more than 2,000 m² of glass at the new central passenger terminal.

hard-working, always friendly with everyone, and astonishingly knows everyone on the five floors she works on by name.“
And yet she is very special: the cleaner at the Post Tower, Bonn, was honoured by Klüh client dpdhl in a world ranking, the „Communication and Responsibility Award“! Director of Communication Prof. Christof Ehrhart even praised the Klüh employee in a speech to 120 members of staff.
„The whole department is very pleased with Ms Larmann“, said facility manager Nabil Azzouz, responsible for the project.
Starting from 1 February 2015, Klüh in Spain is responsible for the entire cleaning and baggage service at the three Spanish airports of Ibiza, Almeria and Menorca.
„She is very special“, said Pedro Muñoz, Director of Corporate Communication at dpdhl, „she is incredibly
The contracts are for three years and represent a turnover volume of nearly four million euros. A total of about 60 employees will be working at the three airports. All three contracts were awarded by aeana, the largest airport operator in the world.
Along with his staff, Azzouz is delighted by the extraordinary award given to Ute Larmann. The certificate she now has hanging on the wall at home says: „Her unfailingly positive manner, generosity and impeccable work set standards.“
So the Ibiza-Eivissa airport with over five million passengers a year is the most important of the three. On the other hand Almeria in Andalusia handles only around one million passengers a year, and the small holiday island of Menorca 2.6 million passengers from all over Europe.
Ibiza is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe, and a favourite among German tourists.
Security for one of the biggest carnival processions Every year millions come to watch the German carnival’s “Shrove Monday processions”. The parade in Düsseldorf is one of the three largest in Germany, more than 70 floats parade 5.1 km through the city. This year Klüh Security was responsible for the safe running of the Düsseldorf procession for the second time. The company has just been given a three-year contract for providing security for the procession. Extra staff in danger zones Depending on the size of the float, every float is accompanied by between four and eight stewards of the Düsseldorf security service wearing orange jackets. Extra staff are placed in sufficient numbers at danger zones, escape routes and the security doors provided. Beforehand, Klüh Security went through every aspect of security in detail with the authorities and the organiser. On Shrove Monday the company was part of a co-ordination group that includes the organiser, the police, fire brigade, ambulance service and the public order office.
