Press release Konica Minolta sets a new benchmark with the bizhub PRESS 2250P The leading global provider of production printing solutions introduces the fastest own developed monochrome production engine in its successful history.
Langenhagen, May 2014 In 2012, the proven technologies of the bizhub PRESS 1250P achieved sustained success and did not only impress customers; it also received a BLI Award and was the only model in its class to be awarded five stars for productivity. Today, further development of the bizhub PRESS 2250P offers businesses double the benefits and creates a new market segment in the printing industry. High productivity, sophisticated media handling, excellent technologies and multifaceted finishing options enhance the overall performance of companies that need high speed production in order to meet extremely short runs, such as graphic communication providers, data centres and central reproduction departments. Increasing productivity Its dual engine technology for high-quality duplex printing combined with a print speed of 250 A4 duplex images per minute (ipm) and 132 SRA3 duplex ipm mean that the bizhub PRESS 2250P not only increases productivity but also ensures competitive advantage, ushering in a new era of printing on demand. Two inline connected print engines enable cost-effective printing as the sub-engine prints the front and the main engine prints the back of sheets. Superior media handling Equipped with best-in-class technologies, the new duplex print engine enhances overall productivity on one hand while providing highly sophisticated media handling on the other. The bizhub PRESS 2250P utilises air-suction technology and provides up to 18,000 sheets of input capacity and is able to handle various paper types from 40 to 350 grams per square meter (gsm) paper in simplex and duplex printing. Its accurate and stable feeding of thick and glossy coated paper sets this model apart from competitors’ engines. Thanks to the disjoining mechanism in the exit roller, the image position accuracy is improved. Moreover, the airsuction feed has been optimised to adjust to paper type and the feeding accuracy has been improved with the addition of a centring function to each tray. In addition, the new duplex print 1
engine’s sheet input tray can be filled while printing is in progress so that there is no need to interrupt the production process. Advanced technologies The new duplex print engine perfectly complements operator’s offset environments to offer first-class print products. The bizhub PRESS 2250P’s up-to-date technologies are highly professional and save customer’s precious time. Independent front-to-back alignment and a distortion adjustment function ensure accurate duplex registration. Image alignment at the front and back of sheets is essential for post-processing of printed sheets handled by the brand new TD-501 tandem relay unit. Furthermore, automatic image density adjustment technology professionalises the printing process: the RU-509 relay unit has an IDC sensor which provides density stabilisation in both the sub-engine and the main engine. The optional HM-102 humidification unit can be integrated into every configuration to neutralise static electricity – which is highly important for demanding environments, e.g. book printing market – and removes heat from the printed sheets. Moreover, it is possible to adjust the density of the black tone of printed images on the front and back of sheets both manually and automatically. Versatile finishing options Booklet making, perfect binding, folding and punching, automatic ring binding and, of course, high stacking capabilities of up to 15,000 sheets are merely a few inline finishing options offered by the bizhub PRESS 2250P. Just as the input tray can be loaded while printing is in progress, the stacker can be unloaded without interrupting printing. The flexibility offered by the large number of finishing options allows printing to be combined with finishing in one step without manual intervention. Ultimately, the one-step print products offered by the bizhub PRESS 2250P lead to increased profits in the print room and optimised budget planning. “The dual-engine technology of the bizhub PRESS 2250P lives up to the motto ‘Deliver today instead of tomorrow’, because it doubles the print speed of the award-winning bizhub PRESS 1250P and ensures a competitive advantage by dramatically increasing productivity,” comments Ines Wennemann, Product Manager, Production Printing Group, International Marketing Division.
