Dispatcher Phoenix CAMEA Webinar Launch

by David Fava - Business Development Expert

Dear Readers, Welcome to our CAMEA Connect once more and I also would like to take this moment to wish you all a great year ahead filled with Success and good Health. We started off the Office Business year immediately by bringing you a totally new solution, Dispatcher Phoenix, via our first webinar for the year! Dispatcher Phoenix is a solution which we adopted from the American Market – directly from Konica Minolta US. It is a solution which we can proudly call our own – totally developed in house by Konica Minolta US. This means we possess all the rights to the solution and in case customization needs arise, we are in a better position to influence a change. DP has been in the US, Canadian and Mexican markets for the past 7 years – so we can already assess its success rate by looking at market data from those markets. It is

essentially very similar in concept to Document Navigator following the same principles, but with so much more possibilities of workflow customization and options! Dispatcher Phoenix can; • Customize workflows to collect, process, and distribute files • Workflows can be scheduled to run, or • Workflows can run on demand with the touch of a button on the MFP With a large variety of processing features, virtually everything is possible – from cleaning up images, applying watermarks and annotations, and renaming files to routing documents to folders, FTP servers, MFPs, or e-mail recipients – and it’s all fully automatic! Unique LiveFlo technology provides a realtime view of documents as they are being processed – a great way to identifying bottlenecks in case there are some errors in your newly created workflow! The application is highly scalable

up to the largest enterprise environments. Dispatcher Phoenix includes a web user interface for access to important enterprise tools – such as apps for setting up server clusters for redundancy/ loadbalancing, failover, offloading, sharing workflows with specific users, and more. Administrators can manage their workflows (run, stop, pause) from the web as well as edit user variables and view important analytics about work being done, including the number of documents being scanned, files collected, and users scanning. In case you missed our Webinar you can click on the link below for the recording of the session and also download all the material used at the Launch. The link below was also sent to you via email right after the Launch Webinar. https://mediastore. konicaminolta.eu/pincollection. jspx?collectionName={878f2bda167a-4bff-939b-c7c205a6e160}

INTERVIEW

Konica Minolta unveils expanded feature portfolio in new AccurioPress C2070 series With the launch of the AccurioPress C2070 series, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe GmbH (Konica Minolta) introduces a new line of production printing systems. As a successor of the bizhub PRESS C1070 series, the brand-new AccurioPress C2070 series combines the prized quality and performance of the previous models with additional features and options in order to adapt to individual customer requirements. It also helps increase customer profitability by creating smooth and streamlined workflows to expand print services. The AccurioPrint C2060/C2070 are perfect for print providers in an entry-level production environment. Both devices provide an easy transition into digital printing, with entry-level finishing features and an optional modular concept for maximum colour consistency. Superb image quality and optimal media flexibility provide ultimate performance for the user. For commercial printers and CRDs with high volume demands, Konica Minolta offers the AccurioPress C2060/C2070/P. These devices are perfect for being developed digitally, in light of professional modular finishing, outstanding colour and registration stability combined with excellent print quality. Once again, high media flexibility ensures ultimate performance. Accurio – Konica Minolta’s new brand for professional printing Having already rebranded the production printing software as AccurioPro, and Konica Minolta’s first digital inkjet press as AccurioJet KM-1, the AccurioPress C2070 series will be the first production printing hardware to be named AccurioPrint and AccurioPress. As of now, all entry-level professional printing systems will be branded

as AccurioPrint instead of bizhub PRO, while AccurioPress replaces bizhub PRESS for highend production printing devices. AccurioPro software products help optimise processes and workflows in order to streamline customer print production. Konica Minolta provides their customers with a comprehensive solution portfolio which complements the new AccurioPress C2070 series and supports customers from a single source with a printer software controller and measurement devices. Expanded feature portfolio and enhanced media compatibility The AccurioPress C2070 series enables print providers to create more business opportunities by handling a wide range of essential digital printing applications. The series comes with improved thick paper support for various media types, such as coated and embossed paper up to 350 gsm. In addition, a new, large capacity unit for banners up to 750 mm in size ensures efficient banner printing, such as for book 2 covers and threefold menus. Because the printing speed of envelopes has doubled

since the predecessor bizhub PRESS C1070, envelope printing is now also more profitable. The new colour dual scanner is capable of running at a speed of up to 240 ipm, and is equipped with a double-feed detection kit to avoid scanning two sheets at once. Konica Minolta’s OpenAPI provides more possibilities for versatile usage OpenAPI provides a seamless interface between Konica Minolta production printing devices and third-party solutions for accounting, authentication or scan routing such as YSoft Safe Q and Nuance eCopy Sharescan. Furthermore, IWS (Internal Web Server) enables the User Interface to be customised based on operator requirements, which makes everyday work more efficient. André Statkus, Product Manager at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe GmbH sums up as follows: “Because of expansions and improvements, the new AccurioPress C2070 series is extremely versatile, while providing high-quality print output to meet our customers’ requirements completely.”

Ugur Bozat - Business Development Specialist

For issue 16 we sat down with Ugur Bozat from the CAMEA team in Istanbul. He is a Business Development Specialist concentrating on PP and IP. What is your background? I studied politics at university but started my career in sales from the day I left school. I had the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of sectors but all of them where related to the IT business in some way, shape or form. Where would you like to be in your career in five years time? I would like to be in a position where I could influence the decision making process more. What are you most proud of? I am very proud of my daughter. She

manages to handle all the challenges she is/was faced with from a very young age. She just “get’s on with it”. What do you like to do most in your spare time? In my spare time I love to cycle, ride my motorbike or relax by doing some woodwork. What are your lifelong dreams? I would like to reduce my total carbon footprint on this earth and be less harmful to our environment. My ultimate lifelong dream is to build my own little house and live completely self sustained - off the grid. Tell me one thing about yourself you wouldn’t want me to know. As someone who travels a lot, every time I take off, I pray that the plane will land safely.

What’s the last book you read? I am reading 2 books at the same time at the moment. One is “The Count of Monte Cristo”

(Alexandre Dumas) and “A Long Line of Dead Man” (Lawrence Block). What magazine(s) do you subscribe to? Instead of subscribing to magazines, I follow some futuristic web sites. I also have some social media accounts to understand what is expected from us now and in the future. What’s the best movie you’ve seen in the last year? Life of Pi. What would you do if you won the lottery? I would build my tiny house and be an angel investor for young entrepreneurs who have ideas on 3D printing. Who is/are your hero(es)? After becoming a parent, I understand very well that all parents are superheroes in their own right. If you could choose one super hero power, what would it be and why? If I had the power, I would evenly distributed all the money in the world. So all problems were solved instantly.

Thank you Ugur :-)

Konica Minolta - School Book Project, Giving Back to Society

THE LITTLE BOOK OF ANYTHING SPACE What a great way to start 2017 – over the past few months, the CAMEA team has been working together with the BIC team, on developing an idea which is truly inspirational, both from a social innovation perspective, and in delivering one of our core values - giving back to society. Back in September 2016, Konica Minolta and the Kenyan Ministry of Education launched a “Space” themed story writing and drawing contest for school children from 205 schools in Nairobi County. To ensure that all pupils who wanted to express their creativity and ideas were able to enter the contest, Konica Minolta nurtured talent by providing paper and coloured pencils for all participants. Together with this, we also collaborated with our local distributor, Express Automation, a Certified Partner for Konica Minolta in East Africa. Result We received 10,000 entries from school children with a wide range of backgrounds, and the winners were chosen by an expert panel. Their work was then published in a 32 page book, and the winning entries received awards during a ceremony, which took place in Nairobi on the 17th of January. We printed 1,000 copies of the book, as well as 10,000 bookmarks, which were distributed throughout the schools. The overall competition was a fantastic success, with one publication headlining: “What this

the experiences available for iOS in the near future. A microsite is available via: http://storycontest. konicaminolta.eu/.

Touch of technology: In October, we began to think about ideas on how to embed some form of ‘technology’ within the book, to demonstrate our growing digital capabilities. So, we decided to bring the book to life connecting the physical experience to augmenting digital experiences using our augmented reality (AR) solutions. The final AR experience was created jointly by Konica Minolta BIC and our AR service and technology partners Augmentaio and Wikitude.

Next steps: • As an immediate outcome of the engagement, Konica Minolta have an opportunity to re-use content from the book, and will display results on 12 major bus stops, close to key schools. • As well as this, content will be displayed on 4 large pillars within a shopping mall in Nairobi. • We are exploring how to replicate this initiative into other parts of the world, appreciating cultural diversities, enhancing innovation for school children, as well as showcasing Konica Minolta portfolio of solutions.

The first: This book, by kids, for kids, is the first of its kind, including AR experiences, and can be downloaded via: http://storycontest. konicaminolta.eu/downloads/ CAMEA-Schoolbook-A5-Lay-01screen.pdf. The app is available for download on Android devices, and instructions are given within the book (p3). We will also have

SCHOOL BOOK PROJECT 10/11

One for all, and all for one – Konica Minolta’s multifunctional devices are accessible to every user December the 3rd, was the “International Day of People with Disability”, an annually recurring initiative of the United Nations (UN). This year’s theme – “Achieving 17 Goals for the Future We Want” – drew attention to the sustainability objectives that are meant to contribute to achieving a more inclusive world for disabled people. Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe (Konica Minolta) attaches huge importance to the accessibility of all its bizhub multifunctional systems (MFP) and thus already applied the “Universal Design” principle years ago, making the devices fully available and easy to use for everyone. “Know one, operate many” Konica Minolta is developing its systems and solutions in the spirit of “know one, operate many”. This means users, once they have already mastered the operation of a particular system, can easily use another bizhub device or other device configurations. People spend a lot of time at work, and so it makes sense that technology and infrastructure should provide everyone with the opportunity to work independently, including people with disabilities. Universal design The European directive EN 301 549M376, which specifies the “European accessibility requirements for public procurement of goods and services in the field of ICT”, became effective for all companies earlier this year. Konica Minolta Business Solutions did not wait for its official introduction. By way of example, the company has applied the “Universal Design” principle to its MFPs years ago, making the devices fully available and easy to use for everyone. Whenever developing a new bizhub multifunctional system, Konica Minolta always ensures that everyone working in an office will find it easy and convenient to use. This means the essential aspects of

usability, accessibility and handling are to be considered in the design of every new bizhub. In order to make the operation of touch screens easier for people with visual impairments, Konica Minolta offers several solutions. For example, the “PageScope Mobile” printing app can be operated with the native voice guidance of mobile devices for unhindered access to all the functionalities of bizhub MFPs. In addition, Konica Minolta provides an electrostatic polyester film that covers the touch screen to position Braille points precisely, corresponding to the copying, scan and fax functionality over the locations of these key features on the screen. All bizhub products are equipped with a large and logically structured touch screen that is easy to operate and in which the letters, numbers and error messages can be enlarged up to 16 times for improved readability. For people with impaired mobility,

Konica Minolta has efficient solutions as well. The touch screen panel display of the MFP – up to 10.1” wide – can be tilted for easy operation by wheelchair users. In addition, office users with mobility problems can download a free app known as bizhub Remote Access, with which the display can be operated from an Apple or Android smartphone or tablet. An optional assist handle makes it easy to lift the document feeder, even from a seated position. For more information about Konica Minolta’s Universal Design:

INTERVIEW

Konica Minolta launches the bizhub 558 series with state-of-the-art technology for a smarter office experience

In order to respond to the latest market trends and client needs in the area of office printing, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe GmbH (Konica Minolta) is continuously updating its hardware and software portfolio. With the launch of the bizhub 558 series, Konica Minolta now presents four premium A3 monochrome office devices with a speed of 30 to 55ppm, replacing the successful bizhub 554e series The new series offers even more premium functionalities and finishing modes, while being highly reliable and productive. This combination enables the devices to complement existing, modern office printing environments perfectly. Easy integration and operation Especially in an OPS (Optimized Print Services) environment, in which colour devices, A4 printers and software solutions are being integrated as well, the new series offers great value. The smooth integration in workflows streamlines processes and guarantees getting jobs done in a highly efficient way. Just like with Konica Minolta’s other multifunctional printers (MFPs), the new series has been developed according to the “Know one – operate many” principle, which

means that users, once they get used to the Konica Minolta user interface, can easily operate any other bizhub MFP. This principle also supports the seamless integration of new devices into existing MFP environments, which especially benefits large accounts with heterogeneous office printing fleets. Improved usability, flexibility and customisation The 9-inch electrostatic multitouch panel provides smart and smooth operability. All devices allow flexible adaptation and customisation of the panel and

printer driver interface to meet specific customer needs and make the operation even more convenient.

“The bizhub 558 series is a black and white high-speed multifunctional all-rounder, developed to ensure high performance in any office, regardless of size. It is the ideal solution for organisations that do not require high-quality colour print-outs but, instead, monochrome printers with top-class reliability and costefficiency, like in the public sector, insurance companies, banks, job centres or municipalities.” Janin Radmacher, Product Manager at Konica Minolta Versatile finishing options enable users to produce various materials in-house, offering high flexibility if materials are required on short-notice, and the high paper input capacity allows for running large jobs without any interruptions. Excellent connectivity with mobile and cloud solutions thanks to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE and NFC technology ensures a smooth connection of smartphones and tablets with the devices. Users benefit from easy printing of documents from and scanning directly to their mobile devices without the necessity of a desktop PC.

Support Competence Center Training Update In this issue of CAMEA Connect we would like to mention the trainings and workshops that were held by the Support Competence Center team for our partners during the last months of 2016. Office Printing Experience Exchange Workshops The yearly Office printing workshop by SCC was held from the 13th15th September at the Le Meridien Hotel in – St. Julian’s – Malta. The final target of this workshop was to improve attendees’ knowledge and skills and therefore provide value to our partners’ organization through better field knowledge and service. This was accomplished through the workshop by providing a platform to share information about upcoming new products, discuss overall experiences with the current office line-up as-well as share bestpractices/tips for troubleshooting and other aspects. We also do our best to clarify any queries that our partners may have gathered from the field during the sessions. Based on our partners’ feedback, the workshop was well received by our attendees from EUROPE as-well as the CAMEA region, with a total satisfaction rating of 4.79 out of a maximum of 5. We also held a similar workshop for the dealers of our partner TFT in Kazakhstan from the 17th 19th October. This workshop was hosted by our on-site colleague in Russian language. Topics included installation procedures,

maintenance procedures as-well as a demo of current and new KM tools that can be utilized by our partners. This workshop was also well received with a feedback form rating of 4.78 out of 5. In addition to the workshops, we also held trainings that were particularly focused on a product. Color Care for PP machines In this training which was held at our premises in Malta, we focused on procedures that will allow our partners to optimize the color production of a machine. Topics included: • Color Care Software installation • Color Care tools • Applying the Color Care procedure to the current line-up of PP machines • Fogra certification • Spectrophotometer handling and different types.

On-site Bizhub C1060 Training This training was hosted by our on-site colleague at the premises of ARKEOS in Casablanca – Morocco. Attendees who joined were from ARKEOS and SHOPIT – Tunisia. The purpose of this training was to give the technicians a better understanding of how to use and service the machine, as-well as understanding the logic and requirements to carry out certain troubleshooting. Topics included: • Understanding and handling paper • Operating the machine and controller • Servicing the machine • Implementing color and machine adjustments • Firmware upgrade procedure This training was well received by our partners and more on-site trainings are planned in the near future.

Upcoming trainings and workshops Invitations to our next scheduled trainings/workshops will be sent out in the coming weeks.
