Welcome to Issue 15
Dear Valued Partners, Welcome to already the 15th issue of CAMEA Connect! In this issue we will be covering local events organized by our Distributors, but also projects organized by our CAMEA team in conjunction with our Distributors. A nice example is the “School Book Project” in Kenya – this project is purposely developed to partner with the government, apply corporate social responsibility and at the same time raise the brand awareness in Kenya. You can find some more information about this project on page 4. On the other hand, the golf pre-tournaments for the Konica Minolta – CAMEA Golf Cup are in full swing at the moment. In this issue you will find an overview of the pre-tournaments that took place in Morocco, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Tunisia. A big thank you to the distributors, who have already completed their leg, for organizing these well attended events. In our golf calendar you will find an overview of the remaining pre-tournament dates. As we now have arrived in the third quarter, we understand that sales wise we will have to work harder than ever to conclude. The whole team is right behind you and please do not hesitate to contact the team or myself should you require any further assistance.
Yours,
Mark Oldfield Senior Manager CAMEA International Sales Division (ISD) Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe
Creative writing and drawing contest: Konica Minolta inspires young Kenyans to give shape to their ideas Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe GmbH (Konica Minolta) assists children with their education and growth by helping shape their ideas together with the Kenyan Ministry of Education in conjunction with Nairobi County. The creative story writing and drawing contest is designed to inspire young talent and provide room for their creativity. From September 2016 to January 2017 Konica Minolta encourages all eligible children to participate in the contest and giving them the chance to win great prizes. As a company aware of its social responsibility, Konica Minolta strives to assist with creating a brighter tomorrow for everybody. In particular, in growth areas, such as Africa, Konica Minolta aims to facilitate identifying young talent and allow them to shape their own future. “Because Africa is one of the strategic growth areas for Konica Minolta, we feel we need to make a difference by supporting the future of the country”, said Mark Oldfield, Senior Area Manager CAMEA region at Konica Minolta. “What better way than by supporting the children and trying to give shape to their ideas and visions?” “Space” as a creative challenge Konica Minolta and the Kenyan
Ministry of Education have launched a “Space” themed story writing and drawing contest for school children from 205 schools in Nairobi County. Anne Lokidor, Nairobi City County Education Executive, said “We are excited to be part of the creative “Space” competition. We are happy with Konica Minolta’s involvement in inspiring not only Nairobi school students but also young Kenyans with the aim of shaping their ideas as well as providing room for their creativity.” To ensure that all pupils who want to express their creativity and ideas are able to enter the contest, Konica Minolta helps nurture talent by providing paper and coloured pencils for all participants. By supplying the necessary equipment, this ensures that every inspirational idea has the opportunity to become a winning entry.
Enabling ideas with potential A judging panel will compile a shortlist from the entries of 10,000 pupils from the sixth grade and then choose the winners. All shortlisted entries will be published in a book and distributed to the schools’ libraries. The three finalists in each category (poetry, story writing and drawing) will attend an award ceremony where the winners will be announced. Besides giving all shortlisted entries a book, the three top entries of each category will also be rewarded with a great prize. In addition, all participants will receive a bookmark. Furthermore, themes within the book will be brought to life by embedding augmented reality (AR) experiences and making the invisible, visible. “This is an excellent opportunity for Konica Minolta to demonstrate our growing focus on digital innovation, and to showcase AR experiences for education, whilst supporting participants in their learning experience”, said Milan Lakhani, Client Principal & Strategist, Konica Minolta Business Innovation Centre, Europe. INTERVIEW
PROKOM setting its sights on going global after US launch success PROKOM, the independent community of Konica Minolta production printing users, is setting its sights on becoming a global organisation following a successful launch in the USA and Europe. PROKOM had its official debut in the US at Graph Expo last month. The response was ‘fantastic’, according to organisers, who are now actively recruiting membership through www.prokom. org. Companies across Europe and USA are joining the community of Konica Minolta production printing users, which was first launched in February 2014. Members can connect, learn and grow their business approaches through a mixture of online support and training. These initiatives include market insights from Infotrends, as well as a host of independent consultants. The aim is to lead business transformation, providing practical business advice and learning to individuals across a print business through its knowledge platform. Easy to use, the web-portal targets content and practical advice to key departments within a print business. These include key functions such as pre-press departments, production, HR, business strategy for owners as well as sales and marketing functions. Every key function within a print business covered with practical tools, insight and plans to help them transform their approaches. A series of major initiatives, including an inaugural annual conference next year in Vienna from May 10-12, are being planned by the PROKOM team. They will be fully backed and supported by Konica Minolta as part of its commitment to the community that has an
independent board of directors. PROKOM developments will also be spotlighted at The UK Print Show, at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Birmingham, from 11-13 October, where Konica Minolta is a major exhibitor. Mark Hinder, Head of Market Development, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe, said: “Following successful activities we ran at drupa 2016 and now the launch of PROKOM USA, the team focus now shifts to demonstrating the value of PROKOM as a community that is being built to enable members to connect, learn and grow their businesses. It is important that we help lead business transformation through our commitment to the PROKOM community so that our customers can adapt to the change taking place in the print industry. PROKOM is a strategic initiative from Konica Minolta that provides a proactive platform for customers to shape their ideas in the production printing industry to which we are fully committed.
We have been listening to our customers’ needs to help empower them to transform and adapt.” Customers can register online for free as a blue member which provides all users insight and content to grow their approaches. The aim is they will then upgrade to Elite for the full range of benefits from e-learning and access to webinars, podcast and business tools. Andy Barber, Chairman of PROKOM, said: “For Elite membership we wanted to ensure that every company could easily gain access to gain the most out PROKOM, not putting learning out of reach by having expensively priced courses. We felt by having just one flat fee, which is less than 34 Euros per month, we can demonstrate the strong proposition and value of PROKOM to deliver effective programmes, which are within the reach of all print companies.” The PROKOM board members are Chairman Andy Barber, Director of imail, UK Mail PLC; Andy Fry, Managing Director of Nova Direct, UK; Arndt Eschenlohr, Managing Director of OvernightPrints Europe GmbH; Thierry Paquit, Managing Director of Identic, Belgium; and Christian Kopocz, Founder of prindoz. com, Germany. Express bizhub Club – We Reward Loyalty Recently our Distributor in Kenya, Express Automation, launched a loyalty scheme for their clients. We thought it would be a great idea to ask them to explain the program a bit further. In this editorial, Chandni Shah - the lady behind the loyalty scheme - will explain more. Why did Express Automation feel the need for a loyalty scheme and what are you trying to achieve with this? Express Automation Limited and Konica Minolta have the largest market share in colour printers for the digital commercial printing market in East Africa. We serve in excess of 2,000 customers, so the initiative behind the loyalty scheme was to add value for these customers, reward them for their loyalty and ensure that they remain competative. The custom designed program was initially launched for “Copy Shop” customers, but we have extended this program to offer loyalty points to customers who visit our showroom, exhibitions, seminars etc. Our concept is targeted towards keeping loyal Konica Minolta customers engaged. Redeem Customers can redeem their
loyalty points at participating Retail Outlets such as supermarkets, barber shops, coffee shops, book centres.
them on the points earned. The customer can see the points earned every time they log in the App.
You have designed an App for the scheme, can you show us a bit more? The App is available for all Android users on the Google Play Store. It is free of charge and can be downloaded easily. Once the App has been downloaded from the Google Play Store, the client will sign up with their business name and valid mobile number. Once they have signed up, the customer signs in with the mobile number and pin number to have access to the App. The App showcases latest updates on the machines and the promo offers. The Customers can download the brochures for the machines they are interested in. For every purchase made, the customer earns points and the customer receives an SMS to alert
Thank you for your contribution Chandni. I hope you will give us some feedback in a later stage to see how the scheme is going and inform us about it’s success!

INTERVIEW
Konica Minolta’s new bizhub 266 and bizhub 306 offer a large set of features for small spaces
Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe GmbH (Konica Minolta), one of the leading companies for printing systems and solutions, is presenting the new bizhub 266 and bizhub 306 – both true A3 multifunctional peripherals (MFPs) operating at speeds of 26ppm and 30ppm respectively. These latest additions to the portfolio complete the set of monochrome printing systems and give offices with limited space the chance to use a wide range of standard functions. The bizhub 266 and bizhub 306 are especially useful in small to medium-sized offices, print shops and governmental institutions, where there is a need for professional but compact printing solutions. Functions like duplex printing, network interfaces and universal PCL printing are just some of the standard features that make the devices both flexible and easy to use. Flexible, professional and environmentally responsible The bizhub 266 and bizhub 306 support small to medium-sized offices with a flexible paper capacity that can be increased to a maximum
of 1,350 sheets as required. On a day-to-day basis this means refilling paper less often and also offers the option of using different media at the same time thanks to a maximum of 5 paper trays. Users can easily switch between them to select the paper they need, while the machines work at a maximum speed of 30ppm for the bizhub 306 and 26ppm for the bizhub 266. Due to their low energy consumption and integrated Simitri HD toners with biomass, the bizhub 266 and bizhub 306 meet the latest environmental standards and help to minimise the environmental impact of printing.
“The bizhub 266 and bizhub 306 help offices of all sizes to reduce the impact of printing on the environment without having to compromise on productivity, quality or reliability. With an incredibly comprehensive set of features, Konica Minolta provides customers with the maximum possible flexibility in their day-to-day working lives.” Jürgen Dobbrunz, Product Planning Manager, Konica Minolta Mobile-ready In order to respond to the increasing demand for mobile printing solutions, the bizhub 266 and bizhub 306 make it easy to print from and scan to mobile devices without installing MFP drivers. This is possible because of PageScope Mobile, a free mobile printing app that connects mobile devices with the bizhub 266 and bizhub 306. On top of this, the MFPs also come with optional wireless LAN support, allowing them to integrate into environments without LAN wiring. Both MFPs are also capable of printing content directly from a USB stick or scanning content straight from the device to the stick. This means users have the maximum possible flexibility of use, while at the same time having an easyto-operate device for high quality printing.
Konica Minolta opens new showroom demonstrating further commitment to professional and industrial print markets Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe GmbH has today opened a new Digital Imaging Square (DIS) at its European headquarters in Langenhagen, Germany, further underlining its commitment to customers in the professional and industrial printing markets. In this industry, we have developed a strong presence over the past years.” He continues: “DIS is a space we share with our customers, who can test and prove their applications with our solutions so that they can turn their innovative ideas into reality and generate new
value for their clients.” Workflows in a living environment Complete workflows cover label, commercial and industrial print markets, as well as wide-format solutions. 2). Sales managers of KMBSP and Logic computers escorted them from Almaty to Issyk-Kul and back to Almaty. Moreover, sales managers of KMBSP and Logic computers permanently took care of their counterparts during the whole conference duration. Such approach resulted in establishing very good relationships between clients and sales managers. Even though sales managers knew all invited participants before the conference (they invited representatives from the most promising prospects), the relationships became closer. As a result, clients from Kazakh telecom and Altyn Bank after the conference invited KMBPS to discuss possibility of supplying KM products and solutions; TechnoDom
included in their budget for the next year purchase of KM machines with SafeQ. All participants from Kazakhstan expressed their gratitude to Logic and KMBSP for organization of such useful event and asked to continue such format of the event in future (inviting participants from two countries). About 40 participants from Kyrgyzstan also changed their opinions about possibility of optimization of their printing infrastructure and cooperation with Konica Minoltas partner in Kyrgyzstan after presentation of Illarion Ovcharov, director of KMBSP, Arthur Adrshin, sales manager of KMBSP and Askar Satybekov, Konica Minolta’s consultant. The presentations of abovementioned specialists were focusing on optimization of a printing fleet. Participants realized that printing infrastructure could be optimized without considerable investments and even established using outsourcing scheme. The representative of KyrgyzTelecom invited the sales people of Logic for the next Monday to start audit of printing infrastructure. Both, organizers of the event and the participants, consider the event as very successful.

Dear CAMEA Team, It was a pleasure and honor to complete a global business workshop with the South Africa colleagues last week. We learned so much. We engaged in conversation in key critical success factor areas like uplifts required, process for compensation discussion, the different maturity states of different countries, required transparency to distributors, and additional required education areas. We workshopped several new insight selling techniques and provided some new tools for strategic sales evolution. We hope these can bring value and impact. But for me it was truly valuable to learn about the key influencing factors of the market place and current state situations. This included things like the cost of money, client expectations locally and in remote areas, different need requirements, and improved communication opportunity. Lastly, as we received SWOT analysis providing a true understanding of key areas of both opportunities to work forward and challenges of the external market enabling a real picture for planning and improvement to grow and extend Global business. The limitations and opportunities are now much clearer. Also it was a pleasure to visit the BidVest Office meet with the sales organization and share some insights about selling change requirements. And finally to visit the BMW office location and to be told we are provide perfect service and great support. We look forward to continuing to work with these areas to support and enable global business growth.
