WEEK 9 READING: PERSPECTIVE AS SYMBOLIC FORM
Question 1: What are Durer’s rules for perspectival projection? (Maximum 100 words) Durer defines perspectival projection as a plane of any medium that captures the objects being portrayed. It does this within in a frame to limit what is being captured and is represented through the illusion of ‘visual pyramid’ where everything meets a point. Also, the tip of the pyramid is on the eye level of the observer.
Question 2: Describe homogenous space? (Maximum 100 words)
Both elements and points in a homogenous space are positioned together to show the greater picture of the work by being representation of their locations, and they can be drawn from any direction and magnitude.

OLD QUAD ISOMETRIC
Old quad was modelled the same way as it is done in the workshop. Extra details were edited to make the old quad very similar to the real old quad. Most obvious three features among the details are: - Buttress - Outer Arches - Lamps

The buttresses were added to all the columns at the outermost side and the corner columns had two buttresses. Outer arches were rendered and created by creating grooves along the side of the columns. Lamps were installed on all sides of the columns expect the closest sides to the exterior. These lights had their own ‘point lights’ along with the ‘sun’.
OLD QUAD ISOMETRIC WITH NOTATIONS As seen, Marco Polo walks through a long, middle corridor with the sides closed off to the big open space with many people. Along his path, the lights from the lamps luminate his path until the sun takes over at the open space. The people present there are carefree and are doing their daily duties with Marco Polo observing the activities at Chloe.

QUAD PERSPECTIVE 1 + 2 This scene ‘Slim’ shows the way that Marco Polo came in and how he sees these people. Most importantly, it shows the details of the floor and the columns of the square he is at. It is done so that the water can pass through the grooves of the floor and the lamps can lit the area during the dark time.
This scene ‘Wide’ shows Marco Polo’s view of the square located at Chloe and how people pass by their days. Other than the floor and the lamps, this area is created big to accomondate many objects and the roofs are lighten to put emphasize on what is below.

PERSPECTIVE SCENE 1 + 2
Some are looking and some don’t to each other in this view. Even when looking, the clash between the eyes are brief. For instance, by the time Marco Polo looks at courtesan and giant man, they are looking somewhere else.
At this square, it is special. It houses all type of species. From the Mexcian band to police, they are all there. Even a cheetah is in the corner of the picture with its owner.

WEEK 4 READING: STAN ALLEN ESSAYS
Question 1: What is the difference between autographic and allographic practice? (Maximum 100 words) The difference between autographic and allographic practice is that former can not be reproduced and the latter can be reproduced.
Question 2: Why do architects need new representational techniques? (Maximum 100 words) Architects need new representational techniques because they focus too much on the city as a whole when designing. Instead, they should focus more on the structures themselves.

‘Slim’ and ‘Wide’ are used to describe the perspectives to show how the lady in the middle and the width of roofs interchangably work together to create the illusion of zoming inward.

PERSPECTIVE ONE: Slim
Without a doubt, Chloe is a special city as it is more about the people rather than the structure and the effectivenss of the buildings’ features. It focuses more on the people who makes the square of Chloe special with their prescence. That is why no matter how good the details on the side look, the characters are placed at every corners and the center to take the attention of the audiences.
PERSPECTIVE TWO: Wide
