KNOG BLINDER–4
B R I GH T “Something tells me I’m going to like this place.” I say it out loud, as reassurance. After the gruelling northward journey through the endless night and the intense moons of the month’s prior, it feels like I’ve moved into an untamed galaxy that shines from within. The landscape is wild and liberated and I’m amazed that all growth spirals and pulses outwards from circular apertures as opposed to the linear worlds I had previously inhabited. The vision is overwhelming in its brightness. In dazzling contrast to the bleak world I had come from, here radiance prevails. Delicate floating films of colour dissolve across the horizon. Diamond clear winds whip up from the valleys to lick my skin and I am surrounded by pulsing geometric creatures with immaculate shimmering. They hustle and croon and fly, dissolving as stars in the palms of my hand. I am convinced I will never tire of this place; that I could explore this lost Eden. Yet I sense its extremes and I imagine the depths beyond me, the potential for floods and storms. Am I afraid? Yes. But it is a risk worth taking and so I edge out into the abrupt rush of white circular light enveloping me. “Your eyes are blinding”. And moving into the brilliance, into these luxurious jet black eyes that invite me in, the road illuminates and I feel so stunningly alive.
KNOG BLINDER–4
W AT E R P R O O F I had been cruising, besotted by the starlight language of lust and reluctantly knew I had to push on. It wasn’t long before the storms raged on in. Faced with this torrential world of water, I tried to u-turn back to those sultry eyes. But they were gone. Day is breaking and the sky apocalyptically flesh toned. Nestled between hyper-real pink and aqua mountains are electric blue rivers leading to a vast reflection that must be the ocean. I am already in five feet of water. How do I cross it all? A pulsing square ruby appears, hovering before me, beckoning. I watch it me, seducing dancing, pulsing energetically. “Yes!” The ruby attaches swiftly. We ride and my crimson companion takes me down through the river. We must be ten feet underwater but we sweep through the liquid effortlessly, all the while the ruby shines the way. We rise and I gasp for breath and for a while we soar across yellow and pink fields that flank the river. But there is still one river to cross and this is deep and mysterious, and the rains are whipping me blind. The steadfast crimson Blinder provides the source, and so we dive and then rise, and then we are surfing. I glimpse the shore, if only, if only we can reach it. We take wave after wave and the last one dumps us nakedly onto dirt. I am exhausted and drenched but my blinding ruby is dry and still with me, pulsing wildly at the same rate as my heart and I fall into a sleep of bliss.
KNOG BLINDER–4
R E C H A R G E A BL E “It’s a mirage!” I am so excited as I wake that I scream it out into the salty air. The vast ocean I had feared is actually an immense desert salt plain, ready for the taking. I am dry and warm and there is no trace of the crimson Blinder who had put a spell on me the night before. The flesh-toned sky has remnants of the night’s stars and as I bask in the beauty of this ancient dazzling plain a shooting star blazes a trail above. And then a giant orb appears over the horizon, larger than any sunrise I have ever experienced. Intense heat fills the air. I must get Moving. There is a strong headwind and the travelling is slow. Rest is what I need, so I look for some shade, any shade, but there is none to be found. I imagine I’m hallucinating as the Blinder X appears, clad in silver, humming a tune. X thrives in this potent landscape of high-end power plants and enormous transformers, occasionally recharging via leads and coils along the way. Perhaps the whole planet is hooked up to this place? This powerhouse of a stranger pumps my metal and we take off and I’m flying. I feel free and X is on fire, pulsing, never tiring and propelling me onwards.
KNOG BLINDER–4
SOLID Waking gently, the memory of the lush evening with my silver stranger lingers. I smile and take in the land of technicolour magic that now caresses me. Flamboyant and glowing cones, triangles and baubles glide by, encouraging me to get up and dance. And so I do. For the longest time and perhaps for the first time ever I feel free of the incessant buggery of my mind. There are no lists, no longings and no anxieties. I haven’t eaten or washed in days but the sustenance seems to be coming from pure presence. Silence overwhelms me, both from within and out and it’s then that I see the magnificent blue Blinder, with its perfect and constant source of white light. I look directly into the endless illumination and realise instantly that the diodes are mirrors in which I see myself. There is a voice, “You and I are intertwined” and the source within pulses through my entire being, lighting up the road. I have discovered my internal power and am ready to ride. The possibilities are blinding.
KNOG BLINDER–4
FA S T “It’s got soul. Your town.” His accent is smooth, although it’s hard to place and he’s talking to a girl about the city I always come back to. I’ve just fixed my flat tyre so as I get ready to go I nonchalantly glance back at them. They shine these two, her waist-long dark hair, his beaming smile. “Trust me. You’ll love it.” She beckons and jumps on her bike. He follows. Before I talk myself out of it, I’m after them, past the statue of the explorers and out of the park. It’s dusk and she takes the streets like she owns them. Two slim bodies with red lights move from curbs I know well to ones I’ve never seen. Careening and swerving at lightning speed, it’s my own magical mystery tour of the place I thought I knew. She points out the planetarium’s striped candy coloured dome, the man singing falsetto from his wheelchair outside the infamous Deli, the golden halo atop the bridge and all the while I’m guided by these mesmerizing rear lights. And as darkness falls their legs move in sync and then they’re holding hands and she calls out, “close your eyes” and I just catch the beauty of the purple mirror as we break through and then we’re in it, under the river, flying along the sand and there’s a world down here you wouldn’t believe! Full of adventurers and movers and shakers and the rush is powerful and all the while these red lights lead me along a fast and feverish wonderland. We ramp out and I’m breathing in my city afresh and then they part, he left, she right, blowing each other a kiss and I’m so in love with this life. With the people and streets of my town.

Materials UV-Resistant Industrial grade silicone
Manufacturing:
TECHNOLOGY:
SILICONE RUBBER
LEDs Consistent brightness output
This patented technology (original to Knog) provides a robust, waterproof construction. Silicone rubber offers inherent shock resistance and flexibility that allows for seamless integration with handlebars and seat posts of various shapes and sizes.
We aim to use the most efficient LEDs. Rather than have LED brightness deteriorate during your ride, we’ve designed the light to get you maximum brightness for up to 90% of the battery burn time for each mode.
Metal Injection Moulding
Batteries LiPo explained
We have utilised this unique manufacturing process in our stainless steel latch to give a fit and finish that provides a level of durability that can’t be achieved by conventional metal die casting processes.
As with most modern portable electronics such as your cell phone, the use of lithium polymer has taken over the industry. Our choice to use lithium polymer technology reduces the amount of physical landfill you would have used for the lifetime of an equivalent product. Picture it this way, given you treat your light well, Blinder lights will maintain a relatively even run time for 300 chargecycles. This basically means the saving of about 600 AAA Alkaline batteries.
biodegradable AND Recycled packaging A biodegradable by-product of sugar cane waste and recyclable PET has been utilised in our packaging.
Polycarbonate Housing Polycarbonate Lens
microprocessor
Anodised aluminium fascia
Our electronics are designed, programmed and tested in-house. This allows us to provide you with unique flash-pattern designs, handy storage mode and memory on/off functions, unlike any other conventional bike light.
Solid stainless steel MIM latch Looks and longevity are primary goals when we design our products. The unique combination of materials and construction techniques make our products highly durable against the elements and everyday wear and tear.
Performance Drop Tests Corrosion Tests UV Tests Electrical shock and static Vibration and Impact Temperature and Humidity Cycle testing CE Certification We undertake a wide variety of accelerated life testing procedures during research and development through to prototype and manufacture. This ensures our products are reliable and ready to face the elements.
Design and engineering lens-optics design As a function of the Blinder’s streamlined construction, our engineers created a smooth beam pattern with the lens. This provides a balanced ratio of beam width and distance to safely illuminate you and the path ahead.
Button Memory on/off New longer button push-on (0.75sec) prevents the accidental activation of your light. Short presses switch between modes. The light is switched off with a long button push-off (0.5sec).This activates the last-mode memory function. *Note: the memory function is reset to steady every time you recharge the light.
Integrated USB Plug No fuss charging One of the biggest complaints of USB rechargeable lights is having to remember to carry additional charging cables. This hindrance is simply eliminated by integrating a hidden plug on the underside of the unit. Designed to be exposed to the elements, the plug is also waterproof.
Electronic Elements
Care Instructions
Lithium Polymer
Mechanical Elements Silicone
Lithium polymer, like any battery technology is a source of stored energy. The fact is that like any organic material it will degrade over time. Getting into the habit of putting your light into storage mode simply brings the light to an optimum voltage level suitable for storage. It’s important to note that utilizing the storage mode feature won’t make the light last longer than possible, it will simply make your light last as long as possible.
solid State Charging There are no hidden cables or circuits that can break when you rotate your USB port. No moving parts means less wear and tear. This means better resistance to mechanical shock, vibration, humidity and external magnetic fields.
Battery management desigN We have optimised the charging and discharging current control. This feature protects the light from being over-charged or discharged. A built-in low standby current preserves battery capacity when the light is off. All these efforts help to maximise battery life.
Testing Dust and water ingress protection - IP66
Silicone has its benefits – it stretches and won’t scratch your bike. But with every benefit comes a risk. Make sure to keep your silicone away from sharp edges. It’s also prone to accumulating dust and dirt: a quick wipe with a damp, lint-free cloth or sponge will dislodge any nasties that have been attracted to your Blinder.
Button A gentle push is all it needs: avoid using your nails or sharp objects.
Lens Polycarbonate is tough. But take special care with standard lens models. Their high polish and optics are specially designed to maximize output. So keep them clear from anything that may scuff and damage the front of the domed lens.
USB Plug This built-in feature means you don’t have to mess around with extra cables to recharge your light. Unique solid state charging means that you also don’t have to worry about water getting into the recharge plug. Ensure you wipe the plug clean and dry before inserting into any USB port.
WARRANT Y

KNOG BLINDER 4 & 4V FAQ
Charging Q. I just bought my light, switched it on and nothing happens. Is my Blinder faulty? A. Recharge the battery to reactivate the light Q. I just bought my Blinder and took it out of the package to use straight away. The red light came on not long after. What’s wrong? A. We ship our Blinders with optimised battery levels to ensure longevity of the product. When you receive your Blinder light, you should charge it first before use. Q. After charging my Blinder, the red light comes on. Is my Blinder faulty? A. No. Simply insert and remove your Blinder into any available USB port to reset the circuit. Repeat several times if necessary. This is the purpose of the reset function.
Firmware RESET Q. After charging, my Blinder will not turn on. What do I do? A. The Blinder is driven by firmware. Like any device, occasionally this firmware can crash. To rectify the situation and get your Blinder operating as normal the firmware needs to ‘restart’. To restart the firmware simply insert the Blinder into a USB port for at least 1 minute and remove. (Note: in rare instances you may need to do this a couple of times)
ENVIRONMENTAL Q. My Blinder will not turn on. What do I do? A. Unfortunately, Blinder batteries cannot be removed or replaced without damaging the entire assembly. Knog is compliant with W.E.E.E & RoHs in the European Union. Contact your local council regarding the recycling and disposing of your Blinder
BRIGHTNESS Q. How do you determine Blinder lumen ratings? A. The lumen rating is determined according to the LED part specification sheet. Q. What is the output brightness level of Blinder lights? A. The brightness level will vary within and between modes depending on the design of the flash pattern. Q. Why do you define your lumen rating this way? A. Similar to the way we grade our locks against each other, we also created an easy way of informing customers which lights are brightest. What we’ve done, quite simply is identified our lights by way of the LED specification. While these particular lights are much brighter than any of our silicone models, they are still classified amongst the ‘be seen’ range. Please take this into consideration when making your purchase.
