NBL1 Round 1 Preview KNOX RAIDERS VS. KILSYTH COBRAS
The long awaited NBL1 season is finally here! And what a better way to start the season than to ignite once again the age-old rivalry that is the Ashes Cup, between two of the largest basketball organisations in Australia – Knox Raiders and Kilsyth Cobras. Fans on both sides will welcome the first inaugural season that is the new NBL1 that will aim to bring a new level of excitement and atmosphere to semi-pro basketball in Australia. New Faces The Knox Raiders NBL1 Men’s team will welcome debutants Jordan Adnam, Damon Heuir (NZ Nelsons Giants), James Hunter (NZ Southland Sharks) and the Women’s team will feature newcomers Lauren Scherf (Canberra Capitals), Abbey Wehrung (Bendigo Spirit), Bree Whatman (Jayco Rangers), (Bendigo Spirit) and Maddy Wild (Bendigo Spirit). Returning Raiders Our Men’s team will welcome back former Knox Raider SEABL players Mike Rose and Simon Grant as well as fan favourite Durrell “Nugget” McDonald. Sharp shooter Casey Marshall and big man Abe Nyok will also return to don the Raider gold this weekend. Also look for Joshua West and Malik Meunier, home-grown talent produced from our Knox Junior Raiders program, coming up to NBL1 after competing in BigV’s Youth League Champ competition last year. For our Women’s side, Lucy Dawson, Bec Ott and Leah Santomaggio (Melbourne Boomers) return to the court, as well as Rachel Quirk.
