NEXT HOME GAMES

Round six opens with Knox against Dandenong as the Rangers look to defend their unbeaten season of six straight wins. Both sides are coming off big wins last round, with Knox beating both Sherbrooke and Keilor. Keilor has a back-to-back fixture against Diamond Valley and Nunawading as they look to improve after their loss to the hands of Dandenong. Nunawading have been in fine form, winning three of their past four games. Sherbrooke and Blackburn will be facing off in Belgrave, as both sides look to improve on their slow starts to the season. After winning their first two, the Suns have dropped their last six. Blackburn can find themselves off the bottom of the Terrill conference if they win the matchup. A top of the conference clash tips off on Sunday at MSAC, as the Melbourne Tigers face the Kilsyth Cobras. The Tigers are yet to win a game at home this season, losing both of their clashes on their home floor. Compounding this, the Cobras are hot off a win against Eltham last round securing their place atop the Watson conference and their fourth straight win. Kilsyth will also face Bulleen this weekend, a Boomers team that has lost three consecutive games and hope to improve their 2-4 season and will face a hot Knox side. The Eltham Wildcats are keen to bounce back with a double-header against the Southern Sabres and Hawthorn Magic. After receiving their first loss last round, they’ll be hoping to win to retain their second position in Watson. The Sabres notched a round-high 120 points against Sherbrooke last round for their first win of the season with three players scoring 20 or more points. McKinnon will have as good a chance as any to halt their three-game losing skid against both bottom-ranked teams of Blackburn and the Southern Sabres. After halting their four-game losing skid, the Hawthorn Magic will face the Waverley Falcons and Eltham Wildcats, giving them a chance to reach a .500 winning percentage. The winner of Waverley and Hawthorn will most likely jump the other in the ladder. NBL1 Round 4 Preview

KNOX RAIDERS VS. BALLARAT MINERS/RUSH After a brief brake over the Easter weekend NBL1 is back. Our Raiders women have started the season in great form and currently sit 4th on the ladder. The Rush come into SBC on the hunt for their first win, having battled to 0-3 so far this season. Quite an inexperienced lineup, the rush feature just two players on the roster older than 25. They’ve struggled to control the ball on the offensive end so far in 2019, and the Raiders perimeter players will be keen to apply pressure and pick up some easy fast break points (Ballarat allow over 20 points from turnovers per game). Marena Whittle in particular, who is currently averaging three steals per game, could create havoc for the young Rush. The Raiders men have had a couple of tough losses early in season, and currently sit on just the one win. Ballarat have gone 3-0, lead by three players on their roster with NBL experience – Sam Short (Melbourne United), Kuany Kuany (Cairns Taipans) and Jerry Evans Jr. (Cairns Taipans). Adding to that talent, Marqueze Coleman is prepared to make his season debut for the Miners, having recovered from a hamstring injury. If Knox are to get over the top of this talented lineup they’ll need to be able to knock down a lot of perimeter shots. Adam Thoseby has been shooting it well to start the season, and with the Miners’ athletes swarming around it will be tough to score inside. The Raiders have been susceptible to allowing fast break points early in the season, but they’ll have to control the ball and pace in this one or it could play into Ballarat’s hands.
