NBL1 Round 9 Preview KNOX RAIDERS VS. DANDENONG RANGERS
Perhaps the most inform player in NBL1 takes a trip to the State Basketball Centre on Saturday night. Rebecca Cole, fresh off a 3x3 FIBA Asia Gold Medal and a spot in the WNBL’s All Star Five squad last season, has taken the league by storm. Averaging 30 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds, she will be a handful for whichever Raiders guard has the task of guarding. The offensive power doesn’t stop there for the Rangers. Colleen Planeta and Aimie Clydesdale provide more WNBL star talent for Knox to compete with. However, the Raiders have been in scintillating touch. They had two powerful wins on the weekend over Diamond Valley and Melbourne, and look to be in the upper echelon of teams. Knox have had more of a spread between their top five players than Dandenong so far this season. Between Scherf, Ott, Wehrun, Whittle and Whatman, at least two or three players have had it going most nights. This should be a fun contest on both sides of the floor. The Raiders men come into this big South East clash off some up and down form, winning a thriller against Diamond Valley and falling to Melbourne after sticking close for much of the game. Cedarian Raines has threatened to break out and put together a couple of dominant games in a row, and this would be the perfect time. Damon Heuir has started to find the form that we all knew he could, and it could only take a couple of others stepping up (besides Rose, who has been playing well) to find the Raiders winning more games. Dandenong thrashed Bendigo last week, with their main performers playing well. Lucas Barker in the backcourt and Sam Froling in the frontcourt have paced the Rangers all year, while Dexter-Kernich-Drew is on fire from outside the arc – he knocked down 5-11 3PT-A last week. Running him off the three point line will be key
