Chapter President’s Message Worthy Brothers of the San Gabriel Valley Chapter: First of all... Thanks be to God. To God be the Glory! Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Amen. Thank you to my brother knights for your confidence in trusting me to lead this Chapter in the upcoming Columbian Year, 2019-2020. I want to thank Br. Joe Corona, for leading the Chapter in the State Council for a successful Columbian Year in 2018-2019. We are on constant move, always marching forward. Much work still has to be done, however, each one of us has received a gift to serve one another, especially in a time when our faith is being challenged. We must stand tall, united to defend our Catholic Faith. We must have faith and trust God to lead us for he is our Lord, Shepherd and Host. I need your help and support. I simply can’t accomplish this on my own. We are all in this together as one body in Christ. This is our journey. In Service to One. In Service to All. The theme for this coming year is “God’s Love embraces Us All.” Sacred Heart of Jesus, Pray for Us! Because Love is kind, love is patient and it never fails and the New Commandment, Jesus said “Love one Another, As I Have Loved You. So, You Also Should Love One Another.” I am pleased that Fr. Thomas Asia, Pastor of St. Martha’s Church has agreed to be our next Chapter Chaplain. For Spiritual Advisor, Deacon Jim Crowley has graciously accepted to serve another year. Dave Ramos will bring NEW enthusiasm and talents to the chapter leadership as the new Chapter Marshal. I have seen him in actions doing generous work for the Chapter and have observed him throughout those past three (3) years. He truly deserves to be the next Chapter Marshal. Br. Dale Pittman will remain our Chapter Advocate as he will continue to do what he does best providing training and development. I am looking forward for a great year ahead and will ultimately do my very best to assist every council in the chapter achieve its goal. We have an excellent leadership team; with newly elected officers and the newly appointed Supreme District Deputies; Membership Director and DD Mentor, Larry Dietz. I am confident that together we can achieve great things with the grace of God. Please pray for us and let us pray the Rosary together for the success of this Chapter, our Councils and the State Council. Remember, God’s love is for everyone. When was the last time you have invited someone to be a Knight? Simply reflect, are you a better Catholic then and now than before? When are you going out to set sail and throw your net? We can never sit back in this changing hostile environment where the essence of our basic prayers is constantly being challenged, i.e. the sign of the Cross in the public square, the voice for the unborn, our Sacraments of Marriage and Penance (the Seal of Confession). Tomorrow, may be too late. The time is now. Together, we can be united; we can change life; we can save lives and make a difference for life. This is about opportunity to share the faith formation of our experience in the journey of the knighthood with the others. We have Spirit filled Faith-In-Action Service Programs that Supreme has instituted to help us to strengthen men & their families that will play a pivotal role in this modern society. Our goal and moral duty of obligation is to invite every practical Catholic into our order. All we need to do is simply ask someone who is a practical Catholic in communion of the Holy See. Our monthly regular Business Meeting will still be held at St. Christopher Council Hall. This was only made possible through the hospitality and generosity of Worthy Grand Knight, Gerry Canton and his Council for extending another year. This provided us the opportunity to use their hall every Third Friday of each Month, 7pm start of Rosary, 7:30pm start of the meeting. For Chapter Officers and the District Deputies, monthly meeting still occurs every first Monday of the month but at St. Martha’s School -Music Room, 7pm except this July 1st due to the 4th of July firework stand, it will be moved to July 08 for our first planning session. Forms and Reports With the NEW Columbian year upon us, make sure that you have reported your elected council officers and directors, along with your appointed positions to Supreme, State and Chapter right away. The due date for this submission is July 1st. Supreme - Report of Officers Chosen for Term – Form 185 State - Report of Officers Chosen for Term – Form 185 Chapter – Chapter Directory Report for 2019-2020 The Service Program Personnel Report (#365) must be received by the Supreme Council office by August 1 for the council to be eligible to earn the Star Council Award. Brothers, As you all know, Special Olympics is one of our preferred charities and a Supreme featured program. This event is not just for Brother Knights. You can bring family members and friends. Let’s have a good turn out! It’s a real fun event to participate in and the competiveness of who has the fastest team to pull the big FedEx plane is real! In addition to the Plane Pull, there is a Car Show and a Walk/Run. We look forward to seeing all of you this year and will be sending out registration flyers shortly.
Also, and the same day, right after the Plane Pull we will having the Beach Bash & Bonfire in Huntington Beach. We have participated in this event before and is so much fun.
